As you all realize what you're dealing with, you start to suggest that everyone sticks to melee, since these guys don't look--

Michelle screams as she immediately starts unloading with her minigun. The first spider is dead in an instant, a rain of bullets tearing through its head... and giving way to a viscous, green blood that smolders as it hits the floor.

In the initial barrage, the other three spiders jump. One of them bursts into flames, not quite getting a good leap from the floor--it screeches, rolling around and flailing its hairy arms.

Of the other two spiders that took to the air, one gets intercepted by Caius--he decks it square in the face mid-leap, sending it hurdling to the floor. He follows up with a running kick, punting the spider hard enough to splatter acid across the back wall. He shakes his hand off, a trickle of the acid burning his knuckles from where he punched the monster.

The other spider that jumped makes it to Michelle, latching onto her helmet. The path of her gunfire strays as she starts to panic, cutting a line of bulletholes along the wall, but she manages to release the trigger before hitting anyone accidentally. You fire a syringe at the spider, but it does nothing--likely due to its blood being replaced with acid.

Michelle drops the minigun, trying to pry the spider off her helmet--its acid starting to smoke through the bone surface. Fuse is afraid of lighting it on fire that close to Michelle's face, and Caius is just now turning away from the one he killed.

Michelle rips the spider off with her superior strength... or rather, most of it. The majority of the spider is torn clean from its fangs and one of its forelimbs and hurled against another wall, acid spilling from its wound and coating Michelle's helmet. She pulls the helmet off and spikes it to the floor before it burns all the way through.

"...Holy shit," Fuse finally says.

"Alright, uhhh..." Caius breathes out slowly. "Was a little tougher than I thought it'd be, ain't gonna lie."

You double check if you can still contact people outside Bunker X--and you do successfully reach Dr. Finch. So, at least there's that.

Michelle picks her minigun back up, still visibly catching her breath.

Acid then. Huh.
Lets wait a bit for Michelle to calm down before we head further down, if we do.
Check for how damaged the armor is as well, better safe then sorry.

Hmm. Since we're at full energy, can we make another helmet for Michelle without using too much energy? It'd be bad for her to get hit in the head...

Right, let's be more careful going forward.

Fresh helmet is a good idea.

Proceed with caution.

The acid was unexpected, but I think the greatest problema was Michelle falling in panic like that XD. The next time we encounter giant spider, we MUST level Michelle.

For now, let's replace the damaged armor, and let Michelle breath. And if she needs more time to calm down, make a mini-Golem we can send to explore ahead.

Good plan with the golem and level.

And... Is there a component of the human-body that has High resistance against acid and corrosiĆ³n? Maybe we can coat our armors in that.

Stomach lining produces mucus similar to our sinus...
Frission 6th May 2018, 6:00 PM edit delete reply
Stomach lining, but that might be a bit gross.
Reiko Lupus 6th May 2018, 6:03 PM edit delete reply
...I hope there is another way. Even if this is effective, I don't want to do it XD.
pkrankow 6th May 2018, 7:08 PM edit delete reply
How about making a small bone shield with a self generating mucus coating. Good for blocking and bashing.
Frission 6th May 2018, 6:02 PM edit delete reply
Welp. Slightly less hilarious than anticipated. The headspiders have leveled up somewhat. D:

let's carefully find an acid-free path to the door and peek through.

Next is either the Hands or the door-ripping beastie I believe, if this is going chronological. Watch out if they start tapping on things.

actually, wouldn't it be that thing we found partially dissected? or maybe the wall. This does answer whether we can blood these things or not, though, since I'm not sure our blood would survive acid (then again, it might be able to if we manage to like, line the blood itself in stomach lining or something, idk).
