You decide to take a closer look at the coordinates you figured out for Bunker A--are there any cities nearby? Towns?

You look at a map online, and the answer is probably not. If there's any sign of civilization within 100 miles, it's very, very small, and also very obscure.

You jump a little, hearing a knock at the front door of the bunker.

You approach cautiously. Caius and Michelle follow you out to the main room.

You open the door.

It's Jury.

"Giiirl," Michelle says, unreadying her pistol, "I was about to blow your damn head off. You shoulda' called first!"

"I tried," Jury says. "Several times, actually."

"Oh, right," Michelle realizes. "We don't get jack for reception in here."

"I still have valid credentials for the key reader," Jury says with a stiff shrug. "I could have just walked in, but I figured you would waste me. Knocking seemed appropriate."

Caius gives her a nod. "Nobody followed ya, right?"

"Of course not," Jury responds. "What am I, an amateur?"

Caius grins. "We did have to get you put back together--"

Jury shakes her head, interrupting Caius. "Nuh-uh. Don't bring it up. We're never talking about that again."

You ask Jury what the news is.

"My superiors--my actual superiors," she begins, "confirmed that my data is valid and secure. We discussed some purely hypothetical situations involving minor criminals aiding me in dealing with the Thale problem. They approve, but federal jurisdiction is a quagmire. I have slightly more leeway than expected, but the amount of help I can officially give you is still restricted. I can get your friends out of the city with new identities, for example, but I have to do it in cooperation with a separate squad designed for that sort of thing. It's inane, and I'm not a fan."

You ask her if she could possibly secure you some storage--you may or may not have, hypothetically, come into possession of some old Zone Fifty stuff.

Jury's eyes widen slightly. "Hypothetically, I wouldn't be able to get you storage for those items without explaining where they came from... or risking interference from some of the loose cannons they've got working this case. A number of the federal agents stationed in this city are real big fans of Zone Fifty, and last time I spoke with them, they were just a smidgen too eager to quote, cut into a real alien, unquote."

"Tha hell do ya get these guys?," Caius asks.

Jury shakes her head. "Almost everyone signing up to become a federal agent these days does so expecting to be part of a conspiracy. Officially, the federal level of government has very little authority. Unofficially, it's pretty much the same story. Anyone wanting to make a difference, prove something, or just blast bad guys with a gun becomes a police officer. Anyone excited about the federal level is likely under a false impression, one way or the other."

"But it pays pretty good," Michelle comments, "right?"

Jury smiles the sort of abrupt, stiff smile she's good at. "Another one falls for the trap. The pay is not worth the rest of it, and I say that objectively. Trust my math, I'm a machine."

You ask if Jury could possibly identify some of the things you acquired. You... actually don't know what some of it is.

"I could have a look at it, sure," Jury replies. "No guarantees. I'm discovering my Zone Fifty experience was on the limited side. So, what all did I miss while I was gone?"

Everyone takes a long, deep breath, and makes a series of different faces.

Jury tips her head. "That bad?"

"Yeah," Caius replies.

"YES," Michelle says a little more emphatically.

Sit down with her, and explain the story as best we can, with a Cleantex effect.

Tell her it was godawful and we have a new friend she should talk to later named Elizabeth.
Also tell her we haven't the faintest idea what most of what he have is so be careful handling it.
Also try to pal around some, make a day of it, try to unwind some. Ask Jury if she wants to hang out after we get done with the Z50 stuff maybe?

Oh darling, where do we even begin? Should we talk about the part where Caius died, the part where we rescued an intentionally-botched labgrown secretary from a horrible hand monster made by Thale, the part where we died, the part where the church, or the part where ghosts?

"So how much do you actually know about this bunker?"

Tell her what she missed in the week she was gone. It should only take... a week.

Afterwards, ask if Jury can procure one of those blood testing devices that the feds used on Finch a while back. She has a legitimate need and we can use it to make sure all the Save the Queen is out of Mav's family and Pierce. Heck, they might need multiple after she finds out about Thale's bioprinter plan.

WE'RE a machine too Jury. A hug machine. And right now we're not following protocol. But perhaps you could help change that. ;)

Get Jury caught up-to-speed. Be careful to phrase the legally ambiguous bits loosely just in case Jury has any protocols related to that stuff (like the Geoangular Control stuff).
We should also ask Elizabeth about being questioned by Jury. I'm... not certain if we should blood-ask her or just physically do so. I'd actually like to try to avoid using blood abilities with her whenever possible (fixing her notwithstanding) as I'm sure she's sick and tired of that junk from Thale.

Is it just my imagination or is Jury's behavior a little more "human" now than when we first met?

I noticed that too! She's becoming much more savvy with her social nuances, I'm impressed. Maybe it was something about the "minor tweaks" she was sent north for?

If that's the case, is this development benign or is it cause for suspicion?

So many face journeys being embarked upon all at once...

After giving Jury a brief and very "hypothetical" summary, we should check if Elizabeth is okay with talking to Jury now or if she wants to wait and do that later. It might help to talk while everything's still fresh on her mind-- might even take a load off her shoulders knowing that she's helped with Jury's investigation, because that's one step further along the road to screwing up Thale's operation.

Also, have we hugged Jury yet? We should do that. It's nice to have her back.

We have hugged Jury before! But that doesn't mean we shouldn't do it again. ;)

Have we told Jury about the door to hell yet?
That could be a fun one.

Just sayin'...

All the illegal stuff we've done has been in a long and constant protracted case of self-defense. We're less minor criminals and more forced-vigilantes. If we could get deputized or something, it'd probably make a bit of life a tad easier. Just a thought.

Maybe legally count as rent-a-cops or something? We could take her Thale case pro-bono?
