You, Michelle, Fuse, Caius, and Dr. Finch head back to Bunker A.

"All back?," asks the miniature red. "Was alone."

"You most certainly were not," states the large mouth on the wall. "I was here with you the entire time."

"Alone," repeats the smaller red indignantly. "All alone."

The large red has not eyes with which to roll, but you can feel its fleeting desire for a pair.

You begin microwaving a large number of mini-tacos. While waiting on that, you also step outside the bunker--both to let Willard inside, and to call Lydia. You fill her (and Grizwald, by extension) in on everything that's been going on.

"Oh my goodness!," she finally exclaims. "That's a lot to take in! I wish I had exciting news to give you, buuut~ everything in my neck of the woods is small. And weird. The local media's started taking a very sharp anti-government slant? It's all very us against them, big government's trying to oppress us type stuff, which is outrageous because big government has no power basically? And they're acting like everything on television isn't buddy-buddy with local government, like the city government's good but the federal boys are pure evil. It makes me thiiink maybe the city council's expecting a big crackdown from the feds sooner or later, and they're trying to sway public opinions early. Reigns and his network are still trying to convince people that PMCs are cool, too, but nobody's buying it. Me and the Griz have been getting word out all over the city, getting more people to listen to our podcast. Bad guys have been trying to track me down, but they can't find me because I sleep in a van. Suckers. Did Fuse tell you about our satellite plan?"

You mention that he mentioned it.

"Yes! Today's satellites are really really hard to hack, but Brother Hope's broadcast uses a really old one that lacks newer security features. Plus, it has a... housing, networking, installation relay thing in the city, I forgot what Fuse called it. IF~ we could infiltrate that relay place, we could get the satellite's access code, plug it into your camera robot, then backtrack the signal to get its coordinates to find out where your creepy warehouse is! Pluuus~ we could override some of Reigns' network's programming with a message to the city, or an awesome ad for the podcast maybe I don't know. It would just be SUPER DANGEROUS, since Theodore Reigns isn't as skittish about involving the po-lice as Patton Thale is. I've been trying to run down all the employee lists of people who worked for people who work for Thale, but I'm preeetty confident that Ms. Voclain from the warehouse is working under an alias because she is just a ghost. Anyway, I've watched the same car circle this block three times now so I gots to go! I'll let Grizwald know what's happening, thanks for calling, tell Fuse I said hi~"

You head back inside, and begin eating and distributing mini-tacos. You also bring a bunch of them back to Bunker D. Zene, Crease, and Mav are trying to brainstorm ideas for getting out of the city, but aren't making much leeway. Pierce is fascinated with the flowers growing around the bunker.

Ask Pierce what he thinks of the flowers. Being nice can't hurt. Also maybe ask if he wants something to eat as well.

Also tell him “DONT EAT THE FLOWERS.... you don’t wanna see the last guy who did.” ;-; don’t want him tempted.

That was just from a specific test case that happened to have an early prototype of bioprinted mars blood in it. I think it's (relatively) fine if they gnosh on some daisies :P
pkrankow 16th Mar 2018, 6:21 PM edit delete reply
Better to admire and not consume. Likely fine as they are inoculated if they feel the need for salad.

This satellite thing sounds like a pretty good plan. Maybe we shouldn't do it immediately, as it seems like things aren't developing super-quickly so we're hopefully not under as much of a time crunch as usual. We need to take some time to recover and experiment with our newfound knowledge, maybe work on some new and improved Sanguines (which could be very useful for getting into the satellite relay station), as well as looking into Geoangular Control and the Tradesmen.

I kind of love how Lydia calls Grizwald "the Griz." He really is a whiz of a Griz, if ever a whiz there was!

We should pick a flower and offer it to Pierce. And also grab one to bring back for the bab red. At least Willard can keep Bab Red company now :P

...Also, let's maybe look into getting some fruits/veggies for the bunker fridge. We've been eating a lot of meat and carbs but not much in the way of veg. I'm sure Jane can probably figure out how to cure or at least manage the symptoms of scurvy with her blood powers, but let's not get to that point in the first place XD
Leafia_Barrett 16th Mar 2018, 8:49 PM edit delete reply
Seconding this. Meat and carbs are tasty, but we need more than that to be healthy.

You think Finch could help us program Mars' base to grow, like.. Raspberries and stuff? Tomatoes, maybe spinach? We've got the key and the lock, may as well make the best of it.

I still really like the daffodils though, let's just turn half of the terminals into fruits/veggies for foods eatings.

Seconding offering Pierce a flower and taking one for Baby Red; been a while since we had the one in our hair, too, so maybe it's time to put that back as well.

EDIT: Oh, and feed Willard an extra-large treat, he more than earned it there.

Thirding flower for Bab' Red. I'd also back having Willard be company but as I recall the last Bab' Red complained Willard, "Doesn't speak much."

Willard deserves a nice big treat. I looked up a few different lists of foods toxic to rats (and humans) and it turns out daisies are edible. Let's pick a few for our small rat child, and put some in Jane's/Our friends' hair while we're at it <3

The satelite plan sounds good, but we're gonna need to be prepared. I don't know how/what we could do, but it needs to happen with LESS near-death experiences, please.
pkrankow 16th Mar 2018, 6:23 PM edit delete reply
Mars needs a 6 month food stock minimum.
Leafia_Barrett 16th Mar 2018, 10:01 PM edit delete reply
This is a pretty good idea, I think. Varied foods too - both for health and so nobody gets bored of the selection.
PurpleKetchup 17th Mar 2018, 2:39 AM edit delete reply
You don't even need a fridge - you've got the best UV-sterilised, flash-freezing vacuum-dehydrated storage in the solar system right out the doorstep. Just need to keep foodstuff protected from the omnipresent rusty sand.

Yay tacos! \o/

This may be a long shot in the dark but we should ask Pierce/Mav if they know ANYTHING about the Queen shipments. Basically either a schedule so we can tail a delivery truck to another facility with a bird or the location of said facility. Just looking for a next place to investigate as the trail has gone cold if they don't.

Would also like to update/get an update from Jury. Given the news I'm not sure how much help her influence would be now, but it can't hurt to have the government (or shadow government given the threat) at least be on our side in an enemy-of-my-enemy way. Maybe they can at least help contain Thale to just this city so we can focus on doing our little, concentrated effort (and would mean getting blooded-people out of the city would keep them safe).

EDIT: Also, if we need to take a breather after today's events but still want to get something done, we could look into the breakdown of that Big List for the P-Js. It's not much but it's still something we need to work on doing eventually and it's very minimal-risk compared to everything else we've been doing.

Figuring out exactly where Bunker A is, and whether there is any means of transportation available there would help the escapee group. And as loathe as the gang is to figure out what's on the other side of the door in Bunker C, this may be the time to do it.

Also, see if the door program has unlocked any more doors?

Oh, one other thing - do in fact let Fuse know that Lydia said hi. Lydia's risking her ass out there too, so I don't see a reason not to do that much. (Also Fuse's reaction might be funny, I dunno.)

Hacking the satellite is definitely a thing we want to do. Eventually. Right now, let's stop playing chicken with the Reaper for at least a couple days until we're properly stocked up and everybody's managed to recover from the absolute shitshow that was the church rescue.

Lil Red... you are adorable and snarky and I like you.
