You send a message to Dr. Finch--that you're going to need the old bio printer booted up on Mars. Dr. Finch breathes a sigh of relief. "Y-Yes... I'll head that way now."

You have your raven near the church look for Carpenter's truck. It's gone, unfortunately--no sign of it. The robot and the Many are probably gone, as well.

You attempt to give Fuse an abbreviated explanation of what all happened. He takes the long way around to the bunker, making sure you're not being followed, so you have time to do some storytelling. When you finish, he just shakes his head.

"We knew something went wrong," Fuse says. "We all felt it, like our minds got all foggy. We weren't disoriented, we just... couldn't think straight. We, uh... kind of expected the worst, at that point."

You all reach the bunker and file into the Mars base, Fuse leading the way to the infirmary hallway. Zene, Crease, and Mav immediately embrace each other. "Oh my god, are you okay?!" Mav tries to motion, as best she can, that it's not as bad as it looks.

While the reunited family hugs each other, you give hugs to everyone else.

You give the short version of events to Caius and Dr. Finch, and list off all the damage. You also introduce the remaining cultist, who... you never quite got the name of.

He pulls the hood of his robe back. "Pierce," he says simply.

"I'll begin working on the muted rescuee," Dr. Finch states. "I'm sure that would put our guests more at ease, at least." He nods to you, then motions to Mav to join him in the infirmary.

Though it's being contained pretty well, you can tell that everyone's shaken. You start to apologize to Michelle, but she cuts you off.

"Hey. None o' that," she says. "I knew what I was gettin' into. We made it out. That's the best we coulda' hoped for." She forces a smile, but she looks very, very tired.

Michelle might need an extra hug ;;; but she also needs some real rest, pronto.

I think we probably need to allocate the beds here to our new friends. Pierce and Mav are cellphone-free, yes?
Especially of the Hope phone variety, as a side-note. I mean, we're on Mars right now, but they better not have tracked us to our lair. >_>a

Might it be a good time now to do some simple first aid on any smaller wounds while Dr. Finch is working on Mav? It'll give Jane something to do that'll remind her of her *human* side.

As a side-note, we should probably talk about Thale. 'You do not have the luxury of time,' he said. And that 'no one' can stop him. Whatever plan he has, it's coming to fruition soon. Those tunnels we found under Howler's apartment probably have a whole lot to do with it, too. Maybe Pierce (or Mav, but she's in surgery) knows something about those tunnels?

everyone is probably very, very tired. and shaken, and scared. it’ll be fine, though. any damage is fixable. we should maybe take showers and get cleaned up, that’ll help with physically feeling better, and maybe mentally as well. anyone who wants to can go lay down in the barracks for a bit. we should get more info out of pierce if he’s willing to give it. he can maybe help us by telling us what he knows about their rituals and such. and… we’re sorry about his friends. i’m sure he probably understands we did the best we could.

Seconding Jane getting back in touch with her humanity. Time to drop off the adrenaline and nurse everyone.

Given Thale’s threats of running out of time, I don’t like having those tunnels unknown and unexplored. I’m worried they may be carving a spell into the city itself. Thanks doesn’t strike me as a man with such pedestrian interests as domination of a single city, but with magic powered by all the lives in a city, he could be going after control on a much larger scale.

Is there anyway we can use a map of the city to constrain what the tunnels might look like, see what sort of canvas he’s got to play with?

As far as mapping, maybe blooded bats, ultrasonic receivers and some clever scripts from fuse and Finch to get a flying tunnel mapping brigade?

Carpenter has Nil and a powerful projecting psychic now. I am conncerned.

And one that is still growing in power constantly. Carpenter has officially gone up a threat tier.

Yep. Carpenter is going to be a late-game boss at this rate.. I suspect with Thale being reduce to mid-tier. We need to prevent Carpenter from getting access to the adversary.

On that note... apparently Mom & Adversary were once one long ago... dangerous question, but could we absorb the adversary in some way to prevent Thale or Carpenter from getting access?

I am pretty sure they fought and Mom left the other as dead on Mars as the result.

It would take some rereading to verify.

Seconding Mochi's idea of everyone getting cleaned up, and Rifu's idea of simple first aid. I don't think anybody's still got the strength to be discussing what to do about Thale.

Sigh. So many things to do, so little time.
Time to straighten our thoughts out, and sort out a focus of sorts for the near future.
I have... several, ideas as to what we could do. But that's for after we're cleaned up and properly rested.
