Michelle doesn't have time to blood all three before Carpenter's robot gets through. You have her shoot a blood dart at Mav, then try to grab all three and haul them out. They all struggle; the cultists and Mav unwillingly fight back, resisting Michelle's attempts to pick them up.

"It's a fascinating creature, isn't it?," Carpenter blares from his robot. "Obviously one of its brains has developed a mind control mutation, but did you know one of its other brains can communicate through radio signals? True story! Only a certain frequency, and I had to teach it some basic code so we could chat, but..."

Carpenter giggles. "All those brains, it's not as dumb as it looks! We worked out a plan for that thing to use the church against Patton. So, ol' Pattywhack sends me in to kill the mutant, buuut... a monster like that? Able to make even the big man himself nervous? Ohhh you better BELIEVE that's an ace in the hole, Michelle! I'm taking that baby home, we've got work to do! And it's still! Growing! Brains! Imagine what kind of wacky mutations it'll have a month, or a year from now!"

You try to pull yourself from the cat. The blob in the basement. No. They're not you. Not you. You're in them but they're not you. The blood.

You decide to use your regular body as a distraction. You have her drive the pickup to the loading dock, and order her to bail out. You send your normal body in, using her fancy lighter to light up two big bags of level. She storms into the room and hurls the burning level at the Many.

The Many tries to circumvent your control, telling her body to do things you haven't necessarily commanded it not to do. She tries to snap her own neck, but you stop that quickly enough. Her brain tries to hemorrhage, but you command it not to.

The cultists and Mav fight less against Michelle. It doesn't take long for the level smoke to start taking effect; the various minds can't coordinate well enough. Michelle throws all three people over her shoulders and starts to leave.

Carpenter finishes cutting through the wall. Michelle hears chain guns spinning up. It'll take them a moment to start firing; she kicks the door open and rushes out as quickly as she can, headed to the outskirts of the Many's influence.

How do you know this?

About chain guns. Microlasers.

You question it.

Michelle's brain. You're using her brain.

Your brain?

Are you... Michelle?

No.

The other one. She has more of you.

You, the blood.

You're the blood.

The chain guns start to fire. They're not accurate over a distance, and penetrating the wall slows the bullets down, deviates their course. The gunfire is rapid, but with a poor spread. One bullet hits one of the cultists. Another catches Michelle in the lower back. You don't feel it. Most of the bullets miss. You make Michelle keep running.

Right! So! Super deadly super-robot on one side, stoned psychic horrorterror on the other, and our squishy people on either side. As much as I'd love to find a way to take the many down here and now and screw up Arvin's evil plan, something tells me we need to initiate Operation: GTFO.

Unless in the process of getting our bodies out in one piece, our disassociated self can melt the Many's brain the way it's trying to do to Jane's. >_>

Btw, excellent design on the robot sprite, MM.

Are we all out of the Many's influence? If so stop it with the dissociation.

Jane's literally in front of them. Would have to run before leaving bloodmode.

I wonder, can Fuse try to hijack Arvin's wireless signal? He's probably controlling the big stompy robot remotely, maybe Fuse can hack in and screw with it's targeting system? Just something quick and dirty to screw up it's operating code.

If our earlier speculations are correct Mr. Carpenter could have multiple hackers, including the infamous Howler Ferrings, in his corner. Even if Fuse knew where to start hacking he might not get very far and worse still they might be able to trace his signal back to our current base of operations.

That last part is pretty unlikely, and Fuse doesn't have to do anything as crazy as trying to take direct control of the 'bot. Just inject it with some garbage code, slow down some of its systems. If it works, it could buy our people a minute or two. We've got a lot to gain from trying and little to lose.

We are the small one that burned the level. The one that has more blood in her. That's us. We are the blood, and also her. Let's get her out of here, get *everyone* out of here. (Except for the robot and the Many, they can stay. ...Wait fuck, if Carpenter gets his hands on the Many shit will be *really* bad... do we have anything we can do about that right now...? Not really, oh dear...)

If Jane can quickly light The Many on fire and just bugger out do that (if we can just light an impromptu molotov or even just use the lighter if it's good enough and chuck it, carefully and specifically at The Many, before heading out that'd be ideal). If Jane can't, just bugger out.
undeadDreamer 10th Mar 2018, 12:53 AM edit delete reply
Any ideas how to deal with The Many? We can't let Carpenter get his hands on it.

Get Jane to pick up a pipe or something nearby and start smashing some skulls, they don't deserve all those brains.

Other than that, make Michelle run like hell. Drive around to meet her up, making sure that our car never gets in Carpenter's sight. THAT would be very bad for our stealth.

Maybe we could drive our car through the many..?

Time for operation blunt trauma, pick up whatever Jane can and smash as many heads as she can while Michelle runs back to the truck, then we get the fuck out of here.

Mm. Think we can get Jane to pick up one or two of those boxes off to the side and throw them into the mass of faces that is the Many? I want to at least inflict some form of serious multi-cranial trauma on them before we have to be like 'Fuckin' A, let's get the fuck outta here!'. Sure, it's probably not gonna be as easy as throwing a fake plant, but, hell, it's looking to be that kind of day.

If the Many can't be persuaded to stop controlling the cultists right now, then attack it. Carpenter won't let his new "ace in the hole" die; he'll come back to try and save it (leaving Michelle to escape in the process) if you start beating it with a tire iron (which the pickup almost certainly has). We already know it can call for help via radio.

While I agree with what many people are saying, about smashing heads, the reason they are having so much luck getting out is because of the heads aren't agreeing. The less brains there is, the faster they'll be able to come to a deciscion. We need to get all of them immediately, or at least the majority, as Jane can fight off one or two.

If we must kill them one at a time, start with the one at the top, then the most fully-formed heads first.
PurpleKetchup 10th Mar 2018, 5:10 AM edit delete reply
I would argue that attacking the Many would clearly make them enemies.
We can use radio waves too, so we could try and discuss things with them to discourage their collaboration with Carpenter. A non-aggressive first experience would help tremendously in that regard.

The Many is NOT the enemy, although it is not our ally currently. The only real enemy here is Carpenter's machine.

Blooding the Many might prove interesting as we would be able to push unity quite quickly onto the collective of brains.
