You shoot a quick mental message to Macland, briefly describing the warehouse, and asking if he or Gesenai Shirai are aware of it.

Macland stops, scrunching up his face, clearly having not anticipated the telepathic question. It takes a second for him to come to terms with the fact that, yes, this is happening.

"Hey, Ges..." Macland starts. "You got some storage places back in the city, right? Any of 'em got crazy security, like motion detectors, facial recognition... lab meat that can sniff out crates, if I'm hearing that right?"

Shirai gives Macland a very odd look.

"It's for the nurse," he clarifies. "She's in my head or something."

"...Aaalright," Gesenai replies. "I do have a lot of property--or had, I'm sure Patton's screwed all that up by now--but if any of it was outfitted with all that, it's news to me."

"It might be outta the city," Macland adds. "She says it's west... way west."

"If it's outside the city, it's definitely not one of mine," Shirai concludes. "Everything I owned was there. Why? What is it?"

"Zone Fifty junk," Macland responds. "Mystery crates, she wouldn't tell me any more than that."

Gesenai ponders it for a moment. "The Thales don't have much property outside the city, officially... but his company does have shell corporations that are off the books. I had to deal with a couple of his fake companies once. They're overnight brands, just little rinky dink operations bought by someone who works for someone who's under Thale's thumb, I'm sure he has dozens or more like that."

"Yeah, that's pretty normal for dealing with the tax guys," Macland says. "I've had to buy a couple trash hole companies to stuff assets in myself... y'know, under a fake name, or registered to a friend that owes me a favor or something. You use 'em, you fold 'em up when you're done, or you rename it and forget about it. So the place might not be Thale's, but it might not not be Thale's. Get all that?"

Macland looks up toward the ceiling, still not exactly sure what proper telepathy etiquette is.

You also ask how Macland and Gesenai managed to get out of the city.

"Uh, money," he says. "We had a preeetty good wrangle on which pigs the big man had on the payroll, and which cops he could've maybe been paying more. We picked one of the cheaper ways outta town, and made the border patrol an offer they'd be crazy not to take."

"Oh, how we escaped? I don't think Patton had quite pieced together we were leaving, at the time," Gesenai adds. "Those weak links in his bribe chain are probably filled in by now."

Macland nods. "But yeah, we just drove. Fast and hard, 'til we could get to an airport the psycho didn't have his slimy hands on. Thale's got the city by the balls, but once you get outside it he can't do jack."

"I'm sure Patton Thale could've chased us down the old fashioned way," Shirai starts. "But like I said, I don't think he knew what was going on until we were well on our way out of town. We were gunning it as soon as we hit the highway, and there's no one with any pull reporting to the creepy bastard anymore."

"Well, there's still the good reverend," Macland replies, fighting back a sly grin.

Gesenai rolls her eyes. "Puh-lease. Harold and his greasy deacon board have pull like I have superpowers. The biggest shame is that Hope'll probably overdose before anything else gets to him."

"You're still mad about the dinner party, aren't ya?," Macland asks, trying not to laugh.

"I am absolutely still livid about the dinner party," Shirai responds. "It's hard to out skeeve Arvin Carpenter but my god, does Hope give it his best."

Well gosh darn, now I just want to know about the dinner party because I want to know about the dinner party, regardless of plot relevance XD

I also want to know about the dinner party.

I'm on board with this!

I bet they served noodles.
Fishbulb 25th Feb 2018, 9:24 AM edit delete reply
That would have been one hell of an incident.
BunnyMuffin 25th Feb 2018, 2:57 AM edit delete reply
Ok, so it’s probably Thale’s. I guess we just leave it alone for now, or set up some light security like a listening device/camera. Then go explore Mars or find out what’s going on at our house.
Leafia_Barrett 25th Feb 2018, 3:02 AM edit delete reply
So, keeping tabs on the warehouse with a cameraspider, maybe two, is a must. Might be a good idea to make a few to have available at any given time, at least 2 so you can cycle them while one's recharging its battery.
Madd 25th Feb 2018, 3:39 AM edit delete reply
So, lets position some stuff around with an alert for Thale, and then go explore Mars I guess.

When we get back from that we can look into finding Howler's location.

Also tell Mac to use better posture. :V

Tell Fuse to check his program, and work out ways to keep bunker B disconnected from the warehouse.
PurpleKetchup 25th Feb 2018, 7:03 AM edit delete reply
Thank them both and apologise for the rather sudden telepathy. Etiquette goes both ways...

Anyway, that's one exit C&Z can't really use - Thale probably patched that hole by now. Can't really exit through the warehouse, through Mars, or through Hell either. Where do the other exits lead already ? I kinda lost track.
Memo 25th Feb 2018, 7:29 AM edit delete reply
One leads to a frozen wasteland.. can't remember if we found out exactly where..
I agree with showing a bit of telepathy etiquette
Mochi 25th Feb 2018, 12:04 PM edit delete reply
bunker a - frozen wasteland on the other side of the ocean from the continent the city is on.
bunker b - door in a box in a warehouse
bunker c - door is locked and can't be opened, even by someone like michelle, but it does have the demon parrot on the other side
bunker d - mars base power room and the small office where we found dr. camp.
Fishbulb 25th Feb 2018, 9:26 AM edit delete reply
There's also Bunker C, but we don't to Ravenholm Bunker C anymore.

Refresh my memory, what is the name of Zene's mom, Creases's wife? If we don't know, ask while we have Macland on the line.

Well... all guilt about stripping the warehouse bare is now gone. Who's up for taking it over? Hard part will be finding the exact warehouse location so after we get everything else out, we can get the portal out.
pkrankow 25th Feb 2018, 2:43 PM edit delete reply
What we really need is a portable portable hole so we can take the door and hole with us.

Can we transport other things through a blood portal?

That is an interesting thought... the red can manifest but "exists sideways". All spacial movement is two-way. If we can manifest from the red (as we have badly done in the past to emergency heal), can we move stuff into the red?

If we have a problem manifesting from our red is purely that a mess of gibbering flesh is all it is - then moving stuff into the red should not present the same problems, and we should be able to retrieve from it.

Further, that brings up the interesting idea of moving that portal into our red... so maybe instead of trying to manifest our red, we just use the portals to go to where it is. Then we can be pickier about what parts of it we use for healing until manifesting gets more sane.

...And I'm rambling onto step 35 when we're still on step 1.

So yea. Use red, try blood portals. Let's see if we can make it so.
Memo 26th Feb 2018, 11:23 AM edit delete reply
There was a problem with time not flowing the way we prefer, when in the Red.
We used 2 months in there last time.
Stuffing Z50 crates of unknown content into a blood portal could have a lot of unexpected consequences.

And our blood is controlled by the red so it's going to act mostly to our benefit. (We have our conscious, subconscious... I guess it's our redconscious?)Anyway, it's going to work in our favor for the most part, there might be some hiccups if some of it acts in weird ways if we try to integrate it or something, but for the most part, should be fine if it's left stored.

And again, most of the stuff we'll just push through the portal, only things we'd try to fold into the red would be the portal itself and stuff too big to fit through it.

... and if we get a weird portal-red-integration thing that gives us teleporting powers, that'd be awesome.

So we should keep tabs in case the door-crate gets moved (maybe not necessarily to be tested, it might just get moved to another "safehouse" to avoid being in one place for too long).

Check in with the PJs and ask that if anyone else shows up, Unity (at least) hide as a just-in-case so that there's at least one of them intact to repair the others.
On that note check with Fuse about breaking down the big list.

Getting back to current matters: I don't think we've explored blood ability options enough for countering the brain monster.
Let's talk with our Red some more about what she did back during the brain monster attack. Ask if it'd be possible to, "forcibly pilot" one of us (even ourself) like a meat-puppet without a brain and use that to infiltrate the church. Maybe just induce a prolonged sleep and then manipulate the effectively uncontrolled body "remotely."
EDIT: Actually, as it JUST so happens, we have a brainless (and expendable) body that we can manipulate. Perhaps spend a few days bleeding into some bandages and wrap it up like a mummy to control it. We can also see about retrieving that eye we blooded (if it's still good) to work as a camera.
Mochi 26th Feb 2018, 12:23 PM edit delete reply
we don't have caius' old body. we left it in the morgue at the other hospital after we finished his surgery. it might still be there, but we'd have to steal it if it hasn't been disposed of already.

also, that would be super weird for caius. and probably everyone else.

I'd see Caius just making a crack of "It's not grave robbery if it's your own grave, just grave taking."

... "For very grave circumstances."

... "Wow, no responses to that yet, guess this party's dead."

Might be a good time to check in with Grizwald and Lydia, to see if one of them has info about the warehouse as well.

This is just a casual but funny conversation. with two people that tried to kill us a few days? ago
