Morgenstern
You maneuver your drone far, far into the stacked crates, wedging it as deep and out of sight as you possibly can.

You start to try and slip through the door back into Bunker B, but before you get the chance, you hear the warehouse door open. You don't know if you can get out silently; for now, you try to stay perfectly still, and quiet, and hope you're not noticed inside the crate.

Every little sound echoes off the warehouse walls. You hear loud footsteps, and two voices--one younger voice, and one larger, tougher sounding voice, both male.

"So we got..." the older one begins, "B13, B20, and K40 for testing... and G5's going out."

"Alright, B13 is... this one," replies the smaller sounding voice.

You try to carefully catch a glimpse of them through what little space you have between the planks of your crate, but your crate is not positioned well enough to see the two individuals.

"--And B20 is... this one," the young voice adds.

"How you guys even do that?," asks the larger voice. "No matter how many dumb boxes I look at, they all look the same to me."

"We can smell the difference," replies the younger.

The older one laughs. "You're messing with me."

"Nah, man. No joke--I might not look it, but I'm lab meat, too," says the younger. "Grown for a strong sense of smell, plugged with the basics and a list of what every crate in the warehouse smells like. They put some kinda... scent bullshit in the wood. They all look the same on purpose."

You can hear... something. A squeaking, like a marker writing on a hard surface.

"Huh," the gruffer voice finally replies. "That's crazy. Since they made you a regular size, you think you, uhhh..." He pauses, then lowers his voice a little. "You think you'll live longer?"

"Here? Working in this freak show?," the other responds with a laugh. "Nah, no way. They told me up front when I woke up, the last five of me got butchered. Best I can do is hope whatever weird thing kills me does it quick."

The larger man forces an uncomfortable chuckle of his own. "Yeah buddy. Same story, just about... the last me got capped in the dome, they wouldn't tell me any more than that. After hearing stories from some other guys in Handling, I think he got off lucky."

You hear the two men drawing nearer, their footsteps moving from one side of the room to the other.

Hmm, lets stay hidden until we can slip back through the door, or go through right now and reconnect the door to our bunker.

Agreed, let’s slip through right now. Better they hear us than find us and blow our cover.

Given that these guys can probably smell us, we leave. Now. It's that or they find us.

Fffffffuck. We're out of options. We stay, we get found. We have to leave, now.

This is a long shot in the dark but... can we use our blood abilities to affect our scent? I doubt we can mask or cover it up but if we can smell not-human that'd be really handy right now.

If I have to suggest a smell, a corpse or rotting meat would be non-threatening (meaning they wouldn't need to investigate) and make some sense given the contents are seemingly unknown and untouched for long periods of time.

I suggest, if we can possibly emulate a scent, go for "dust" (which I guess would be, like, a combination of mold spores and dead skin and mites?) because that is *very* non-threatening and also probably all over this place.

We should skedaddle. For the time being, we should probably keep our bunker door set to B unless we need it set elsewhere, because that will prevent anyone on this side from coming through to bunker B to investigate why the crate is suddenly Jane-scented.

Next time we come in, we should probably bring a note that we can leave just in case we need to, that says something about us being non-hostile and coming in peace and not wanting to get in the way, that sort of thing.

Can you use the blood to tell your body to stop sweating? It'd be harder to notice you.

Bred to smell the differences in the boxes is great. I almost spittaked my coffee!
