After a moment or two of watching the cats, Michelle comments. "Y'know, we could prob'ly have prepped for this better."

You decide to back out for now, and head to a pet store. Michelle waits in the hummer while you pick up cat food, cages, proper rat food (as so far your rodent has mostly subsisted on scraps), pigeon feed, litter, and a litter box (in case you decide to try and keep one of the cats indoors).

You and Michelle head back to where you found the cats. It's not long after you bust out the cat food that the kitties begin wandering up to you. It takes everything Michelle has not to start giggling, but she manages to restrain herself. You feed the cats, and give them some time to get accustomed to you.

You have to be patient, and quick. You know the cats will panic once one of them gets blooded, and trying to hit all three at once is... well, possible, but it would be difficult. Michelle's pretty quick herself, however. You manage to blood two of the cats almost simultaneously, with Michelle managing to grab the last one long enough for you to get it, as well.

You can now give orders to three cats.

You calm the cats down as much as you can (mostly just telling them not to freak out, since you can't really level a cat... you don't think?), and relinquish them. Well, you do, Michelle continues to pet the grey cat for a while.

"So, pigeons," Michelle finally says. "They mostly hang out in like... parks, right? What're the odds the cops are keepin' an eye on the parks today?"

In general, you think, pigeons tend to congregate anywhere public... which might present an issue, as what you're planning to do to a pigeon might not look great to other people. Finding an empty park wouldn't be hard, but Michelle has a point--after the "arson" earlier, there might be a few more eyes on the city's parks, just to make sure it isn't a serial case. Picking the right place to look for pigeons might be harder than it sounds.

Yes, Kitties!

I say we name them Stripes for the grey one, Calico Jackie for the Calico, and Shadow for the black cat.

I say we name them Cthulhu (Calico), Dunwich (the Dark one), and Lovecraft (the lined one).

Edit: For this specific reason...
Next Person Brought to Base: "So... you're like the physical form of some kind of elder god...?"
Blondie: "I guess, so, I just want to give hugs though."
NPBB: "So, things fairly normal around here?"
Blondie: "Well, other than the wall with a talking mouth on it."
NPBB: "The wha...?"
Random noises of crashing and banging
Blondie: "Hold that thought, I have to go check on Cthulhu..."
NPBB: "Cthulllll...." Eyes go wide
Blondie leaves, NPBB follows partway, only to see the mouth on the wall.
NPBB: "Gaaahhhhhh"
Mom's Red: "Why, hello there."
Blondie (From other room): "Okay, I caught Cthullhu. I'm coming back now."
NPBB: Look of abject fear as sounds of Blondie's footsteps draw near, closes eyes and cowers.
Cthullhu: Purring
NPBB: "...huh?"
Cthullhu: Licks NPBB's nose.
NPBB: Opens eyes, and pets cat. Proceeds to get a hug.

This. This I agree with.

I wasn't expecting all 3 at once.
I was thinking Danny for the orange one, Sawyer for the brown/grey one, and Darla for the black one.

Alternatively: Kyo for the orange one, Salem for the black one, and Sassy for the mocha/grey-brown one.

EDIT: If we want to name them after Lovecraftian creatures, I know Nyarlathotep is associated with black (and Hastur is yellow but that doesn't really apply here). If anyone knows if/who the others are that are associated with grey and white/orange we could go that route.

Hmm... we could name the grey one after the Lafcadio academy in They Bleed Pixels which is based on Lovecraftian horror.

EDIT: So include your suggestion, Blue...

Cthullhu for the Calico
Nyarlathotep for the Black
Lafcadio for the Grey

Yay kitty cats! \o/ For now, we should have them come with us and hang out outside the bunker. I think bringing them inside would be a pretty bad idea because Willard. (Let's go ahead and make a standing order for all our blooded critters not to attack any of our other blooded critters, though.) We miiiight be able to bring one inside if we can confirm that it doesn't cause an innate stress response in Willard to have the smell of a predator around, even with the conscious assurance that it won't eat him.

For where to get pigeons... maybe an alley behind a restaurant, where they keep the dumpsters? Might be a place that pigeons would go to find food, but still out of sight. We could ask Grizwald, actually! He'd know where to go for pigeons.

Also gee, if I'd known we were going to a pet store, I'd have suggested picking up a rabbit to keep on Mars. Maybe we can stop back by there at some point?
Blue_Elite 19th Jan 2018, 9:31 PM edit delete reply
I'm not sure if we want a rabbit. According to bunnies very useful scientific facts, they can't do much other than dance. X3

For pigeons we could probably set up a "trap" with the pigeon feed. We just need to find a place with pigeons first and then find an out-of-the-way area nearby to actually catch one.

Rooftops. Balconies. So many wonderful places where just a tiny bit of bread or pidgeon food will attract whole flocks of pidgeons. At least that’s what living in Germany and the UK has taught me.
Blue_Elite 20th Jan 2018, 5:05 AM edit delete reply
I was afraid that being on rooftops might be suspicious activity and that the vertical nature the city might make us more observable even while on a roof.

If that's a non-suspicious option though I'd agree with it.

I suggests we sync with the cats to teach them human language. Also teach balance necessary for bipedal movement. And we make them little hats and boots. One should have a tiny sword (hat will have a big feather), and another one a suit (hat will be a tophat), and one a ninja outfit (hat will be ninja headband).
pkrankow 20th Jan 2018, 9:25 PM edit delete reply
Use cats to find pigeons, but not to catch pigeons.
