The man with the blades is approaching quickly.

You hand your gun and a blood-filled needle to Fuse, and explain to him and Michelle--very quickly--what you think is going on. Neither you nor Michelle will be able to hurt this guy.

"Crap," Michelle says, tightening her grip on the wheel. "Alright. I'm gonna try to like... drive ahead of him. Maybe if I don't focus on hittin' him and he just happens to be in the way it'll work. Get ready to dodge."

Fuse drops his own gun, readying yours. "You know... I was really hoping to practice with this thing first. I don't even know if this'll work."

You ask what he means--if it'll work?

"My leg," he says. "It's got like... a small engine in it. It's supposed to have a fuel source, but I figure--"

The man reaches you.

He dives in deep, one of his blades swinging straight at you. He's fast, incredibly so. You leap back, actually throwing yourself to the ground in an attempt to get out of the way, but you're not quite fast enough. Neither is Fuse, but you both act, and your dodge is just enough combined with his... raising of his leg. He brings a knee up high, stopping the blade just short of where you were an instant ago. The bone sword is tough, but it's not tougher than a combat grade metal prosthetic.

You level Fuse as you pull yourself back up. The mystery man thrusts his blade forward at Fuse's leg--on purpose this time, likely a test. Again the blade fails to make it through, but this time Fuse swings back, throwing a kick.

A flaming kick.

Fuse's leg ignites, a flaming stream rocketing out the back of his shin. It sets his pant leg ablaze, and clips the chin of your attacker as he tries to dip back. It puts some distance between Fuse and the bladed man, which Fuse uses to then light the man on fire.

You're ready to dodge out of Michelle's way, as is Fuse--your first leap back put you a good distance away from the bladed man, and you can see Fuse planting his mechanical leg, getting ready to launch himself straight up.

Michelle doesn't quite get there. She swerves at the last second, nearly plowing the hummer through the benches, the trees, and everything else.

"Okay, so that DOESN'T work!," Michelle yells.

Fuse tries to get a shot off with your pistol, but the man zig-zags, making it hard to get a clean shot. Fuse has to focus on defending himself from the blades, which the man can swing much quicker than Fuse can kick--but Fuse seems to have the superior range, if not by much, which he uses to keep the spacing while the attacker burns.

The man is visibly wincing, teeth gnashing, body tense. You can... almost hear him, grumbling something under his breath, but you can't make it out. Fuse is holding him off, but you don't think this will last long enough for the man to just outright burn to death. If Fuse can shoot him it'll be pure luck, and there's no way Fuse can get close enough to inject him at this rate.

You concentrate on trying to break the aversion.

It's not you.

You're not the brain.

You're the blood.

The brain has the aversion.

Not you.

You just have to command the brain.

Your brain.

The brain in this body.

Don't think of it as your brain.

It's just a brain.

It could be any brain.

You send signals to the brain, commanding it to maneuver the body to do what you want.

The brain fights it. It doesn't want to.

You feel a trickle of blood run out of your nose. There's pressure in your skull, but you don't... feel it. It's like when someone you're controlling dies, it's just... there. It's not you.

She's not you.

You're the blood.

She's not you.

You order her to throw the needle.

She does.

You snap out of it, gagging on blood as it pours from your brain to your throat. You have officially made your brain do things brains aren't supposed to do. Everything's fuzzy for a moment--you look up in time to see that the needle did, in fact, hit the bladed man. You injected him in the upper arm.

There's a brief delay as the radiation fights it, and--

you watch as he slices his own arm off.

Clean. Smooth. No hesitation.

He just takes the blade from one appendage and runs it through the other. You can still feel a needle's worth of blood in the severed limb as it hits the pavement.

"Hooo-ly shit," Fuse says. He stumbles back, and so does the attacker. Fuse has managed to put out the flames from his pants, at least.

The now one-armed blade man breathes heavy. He continues to mouth... something, but louder. You still don't understand it--you're pretty sure he's not speaking your language.

Something begins to glow beneath the surface of his skin. It's hard to see past the fire, but it's a different color than the glow of the flames. Fuse opens up with the handgun, putting bullets in the man's legs, and torso. He goes for a headshot, but it ricochets off his forehead with a loud ping--likely metal wedged under the bandages.

The man drops to one knee, heaving, but he doesn't stop speaking. Chanting. You feel half-in and half-out. Michelle is circling the hummer around as quickly as she can to make another run at this direction. Fuse fires until the clip is empty, almost every bullet going into the bladed man's body. He leans on his one blade, blood running from his mouth, his body blackening from the heat of the flames.

He hisses, gasps, but every last ounce of strength he possesses he uses to continue uttering his verse.

We gotta take away his ability to speak or function with a brain. This is gonna be hard.
Twyll 12th Jan 2018, 11:02 PM edit delete reply
Blood his mouth! Even if we have to slash ourselves open and splash blood into it, blood it and physically interfere with his speech.
Guest 12th Jan 2018, 11:03 PM edit delete reply
disrupt his mouth somehow, kick him in the chin, stuff his mouth full of clothes, do literally anything to stop this, punch him in the gut to knock the air out of him, just full on decapitate him. Adversely tell fuse to do any of these things if he's able

I have little other than having Crease use Michelle's scoped pistol. Know the backstop because friendly fire is wrong.

Definitely this! It's hard to chant when your mouth and lungs are no longer Facebook official.

We have a very sharp melee implement now. Cut his throat with the severed arm blade. After this, we may want to see about that book. Other people who can manipulate the Red is dangerous.

Levitate the blooded arm and stab him in the mouth!
There is no way there's enough blood in that arm to do this...
But we have emotion riding on this.
DO IT!!!

Also uh maybe don't lose all your blood kthx.

Oh gosh fricking dangit. We really need to have Jane permanently carry the dart gun around.

I support any and all paths that involve preventing this guy from talking anymore.

Decapitate the fucker, keep burning him, shoot him more.

Is this religious zealot chanting or actual magic chanting?
Azith 13th Jan 2018, 1:03 AM edit delete reply
Well, there's this actual book of magic we need to destroy, we're half-eldritch-blood-god, and there's this cult controlled by someone who found out how to make artificial-eldritch-blood-god-blood. I'd say we can't risk it either way. Oh, and said magic requires manipulating eldritch-blood-god-eldritchness. So yes, we need to do something to prevent this man-thing from talking.

Since when do we need to destroy the magic book? I don't remember any plans to that end, rather, I thought we wanted to use it.

We can call Fuse's move, "the hotfoot."
Also, can we now give orders to "Jane Doe"?

Try to have Fuse light Swordarm's (now no longer plural) face/jaw on fire. It's rather difficult to speak when all your oxygen is being eaten up by flames (and having heated metal stuck to your head is like wearing a microwave as a hat).

Additionally, if this finally ends up killing Swordarm, cremate his body to the best Fuse's flames can. That glow from inside has me worried.
Azith 13th Jan 2018, 1:08 AM edit delete reply
Agreed, but let's not stick around. In my mind, ominous glow usually means explosions. The other option is to get fire inside his lungs, but I don't think Fuse has that level of control, even with Level.

Portal In Time
Yeah, if we can't blood his brain and find out what he's thinking, his chanting probably isn't much use to us. Decapitation, mutilation, and cremation sounds like a good plan.
