Fuse slowly makes his way out of the security office, beginning to wander back toward Michelle. As he walks, he uses his phone to check for local networks, and pinpoints two bioprinters in the building. He starts downloading a program to his phone to help him get into the printers. He also lights up a level.

"Y'know, they don't like people smokin' in hospitals," Michelle says.

"They're not gonna like a lot of things I'm doing," Fuse replies. "We got two bioprinters, one or both are probably hacked by Howler's geek squad... one confirmed sighting of a skin mosquito in the elevator."

Michelle sighs. "Great. So... hospital hell, round II."

"I'm gonna try to get into the printers, but I'm guessing the security protocols on this hospital's-- wait. No. I'm in. That was easy."

A look crosses Michelle's face, as though she's having an aneurysm. "Wha... seriously? After the Tobu thing, every company in this city shoulda' doubled up on protectin' their AIs, especially for bioprinters."

"Oh, I'm sure they did," Fuse replies. "I'm sure everybody and their dog called up some big cybersecurity fronts, and paid out the ass to reinforce their bioprinters. And, I'm sure Thale's underlings paid those same cybersecurity outlets extra to leave intentional backdoors. Nice little hospitals like this one--who can't tell the difference--get a false sense of security. The digital protection agencies get two paychecks. Guys like Howler get saved a lot of trouble. Everybody wins."

Michelle shakes her head, smiling dryly. "That's so paranoid that I kinda buy it."

Fuse continues to mess with his phone. "Right? How's the old saying go? It's not paranoia if they're really out to get you. Anyway, getting into the printers is easy... I don't think I could counter-hack Howler, let alone the rest of his prison pals, but I don't need to. I just need to get into the system parallel to them, add a little extra code to the verification process..."

There's a pause. Fuse hits one more button on his phone.

"And done. It's not foolproof, but this should keep them from making anymore mansquitos, at least tonight. They'll be ejected from the ranged controls, and have to cook up a new way to get into these bioprinters. The bad news is, anything they might have already made..."

"...Is still gonna be there," Michelle finishes. "So if those bioprinter rooms are full o'--" she pauses, trying not to laugh at it, "mansquitos, we gotta clean 'em out the old fashioned way."

"Yeah," Fuse replies. "If they've broken loose, we might have to blood the whole damn hospital... but I'm hoping it doesn't come to that."

"The one that got in the elevator might be a fluke?," Michelle offers. "Maybe they didn't plan on makin' more until that one got squashed. Maybe they didn't make more at all?"

"We're due for some good luck, but I wouldn't bet on getting it yet," Fuse says.

Michelle nods. "The nurses'll prob'ly cooperate if we ask about the bioprinters. I dunno what they think we're doin' here, but I'll bet this ain't the first time they've overlooked some shady shit... workin' with Shirai and Macland. We can give 'em the Thale test, see if things get weird--might be harder to talk 'em into gettin' their shots if they can't say the name."

Gee, leaving for a few days didn't really work out for poor Caius.

Anyway, better check for the one who screamed after she saw the first moskinto for StQ. And every other one as well.

Also just preempt any further BS and just relocate the entire stock of biopaste away from the printers. At the very least not on the same floor they're on.

And/or make sure the bioprinters are turned off completely. Maybe even unplug them.

I'm not 100% on how EM field induction works. Would there even be any plug to un?

Would that apply to appliance-sized devices? I would think they'd need more power than would make sense to provide wirelessly, but that's speculation. Maybe it does just work that well in this context.

Oh man... Or should I say, mansquitoes. I love this update XD Michelle and Fuse are just one of my favourite pairs <3

I'm so glad we got to those printers in time. Thank goodness we don't have to hacker battle - not now, anyway.

If Fuse could link up his phone to the security camera here, so they can check on the vicinity to the surgery room just in case, then Michelle and Fuse can maybe make their way over to the closest nurse and ask for directions to the bioprinters and head to the closer one first. If the Thale test proves the shady business, I guess we could knock them out with the tranq gun.

Hm. Hm hm hm. I guess I'll have to second what the others are saying - relocate the biopaste, Thale Test the nurses/literally anybody that's heading near the surgery room. I think Fuse should stand guard at the surgical room's entrance, while Michelle takes out the biopaste - I can't imagine it's lightweight.

How are we going on the surgery, by the way?

Relocate the biopaste, and manually shut down bioprinters just in case.
Find out who got bit as well, we don't want that becoming a problem.
