With Michelle's permission, you sync with her for a while, splitting the stress between you. It makes it slightly easier to maintain Caius's condition while you keep him company. Though he's in no condition to be hugged, you hold his hand, and let him know that you love him.

You start to understand why Nil implied a two day limit. The more you work to keep Caius stable, the more taxing it becomes. He's not improving, and nothing you can do seems to make a massive difference--you only keep him afloat, preventing his condition from worsening. You are constantly having to prompt his body for white blood cells, and manually cut infection off at the pass. After 48 hours without sleep, the human mind becomes impaired--and in a weakened state like that, you would likely miss something, or not be quick enough. You would slip, and the proverbial dam would break.

You can imagine it rather clearly--the rare timelines Nil spoke of, timelines where you stayed awake for two straight days before succumbing to exhaustion, and Caius would die.

You stay mostly focused on Caius, sometimes daring a glance at the others. Dr. Finch gets Fuse's leg taken care of, as much as he can. If it doesn't get infected, Dr. Finch can treat the damage more properly with the bio printer, and after that Fuse just has to be careful. Dr. Finch doesn't voice his real concern--that if it does get infected, if the brief radiation exposure reached the bone, then the leg may get worse.

Michelle gets to where the alternate body is being kept. It's locked, but it doesn't slow her down--Michelle kicks the door in with no regard, hunts through a small warehouse until she finds a tube containing lab meat that resembles Caius, and then hauls it out with her own two hands. She shoves the container in the back of her pickup and speeds back to the bunker.

You commit to taking care of Caius until Michelle arrives with the body, and you tell her the plan to do a brain transplant.

"Cool," she says. "We got the tools for that here? I know we got first aid stuff, but uhhh... brain surgery?"

You bring this up to Dr. Finch, who... stops, staring off into space for a moment.

"I... hm. We have the non-physical resources, but I had... actually not given that much consideration to surgical equipment."

Dr. Finch states this aloud, so of course, Fuse hears it.

"Wh-- seriously?"

"I am not thinking with my usual level of clarity," Dr. Finch replies. "We... we need tools, I... I don't know where we would acquire--"

"We'll just go buy 'em. Right?," Fuse asks. "Like, we have money now."

"No one is going to be selling neurosurgical equipment at eleven o'clock at night," Dr. Finch blurts out.

"Can we borrow a hospital?," Fuse asks. "Like, a real one?"

"Borrow? A hospital?," Dr. Finch repeats. "They do not rent out space at medical facilities, and if I tell them I'm there to perform a brain transplant they're going to look at me like I'm a sociopath."

You update Michelle on the situation.

Michelle exhales slowly... then shrugs. "So we gotta jack a hospital. What're they gonna do, stop us? Ain't a nightshift security crew in this city that's gonna tell us no."

get someone to call macland. the hospital he was being kept at is being sustained by a generous fonation from his company. he can use that pull to get us in and make sure no one asks any questions.

This. Either get a hold of Macland's brain or call him or Shirai.

This one... Best plan... If this don't work this the hospital we woke up in

Macland's hospital or we break into another one. The one we woke up in is not functional unless someone started repairing it.

We could wait 'till day but yeah. We should ask if Macland's hospital has the necessary equipment for a brain transplant.
