You begin working on Macland's brain again.

You've gotten slightly more comfortable tracking down and working on the various parts of the neural network.

As you start to again look for neurons whose signals aren't being delivered, however, you notice that... some small parts of Macland's brain seem to have started de-synchronizing on their own. They're still not a coherent whole, and not enough to wake him up. You're not actually sure why they're active, or what those parts specifically being functional on their own would accomplish--

"This shell is not free," Macland mutters in his sleep.

You hunt down the synchronized signals more rapidly, having a better eye for it than you did the first time you tried this. You attempt the same process--telling neurons to 'return to normal,' so to speak, and fire off at their more default rates. You wait... and watch. They stay corrected when you tell them to, the transmissions getting through to the rest of the brain.

"I still hold him," Macland mumbles.

You work your way through Macland's mind. One cluster after another you reset to its normal behavior, steadily bringing the different portions of his brain back to life.

"There is no reason in this," Macland utters. "You delay. You cannot save this body."

You finish lighting the last part of his brain up. It takes a moment for everything to process, for the renewed connections to begin cycling their signals and communicating properly. Messages from every corner of the mind coalesce into cohesive thoughts, into commands, into awareness and instinct and

"I thought, of all things in the universe, you would understand."

Slowly, Macland Row begins to wake up.

Pull back out of the deeper processes and pull into 'normal' perspective mode. Let's observe?

EDIT: I am kinda worried Thale/Carpenter is going to send thugs to kill Macland or something. -_-a Let's watch out.

Also, check in real quick on Michelle and Fuse?

I love this update, by the way. When Mac started uttering things it just creeped me out the best way. >_>)b

Not to ruin the moment, but it might be a good time to inform Macland the enormity of the debt he now owes.

I somehow doubt he'll see it that way.
BunnyMuffin 29th Nov 2017, 3:41 AM edit delete reply
^ Agreed. Lol he’ll probably try to attack us or something... So how are we gonna handle this? Meeting him? Kidnapping him? -.-

maybe begin a line of dialog with him to see how he is doing and explain the situation to him.

Okay, yeah. First, check to make sure that it's actually Macland Rowe, Tacky Asshole Extraordinaire that's waking up and not like... fuckin', Nil, Puppetmaster Abomination From Beyond The Void exerting its will or some other bullshit like that.

Mind, I'm hoping that was more Nil being like 'wait we're both world-rending abominations I'd thought you'd be cool with this what the fuck' and not a prelude to Nil being able to do shit with Mac's body in spite of our efforts.
rufiangel 29th Nov 2017, 3:31 AM edit delete reply
Yeah, checking who's got the reins is a good idea. Nil is still in him though, and can still slowly take over eventually (every time he sleeps, essentially, will open that doorway wider and wider). We'll need to tackle that later, I think? Maybe.

I’m still wondering what Nil wants with a lowly human like Macland... Trying to get to us? I’m sorta confused at the motive. / (-.-)/

I doubt he's after us. He probably 'just' wants a large hivemind for himself, and Macland was the only one (we know of) that is currently a suitable host.
