You wake up, and begin to plan how this is going to go.

"You'll most likely need to sync with me," Dr. Finch states. "A cleantex effect may also be helpful. We will be... well, we'll essentially be testing theories, for starters. There are a great number of possibilities for how this all works, and trying to undo such things manually is breaking new ground to say the very least."

Speaking of cleantex, you ask if it could possibly help Macland--say, 'reverting' his memory to before he was exposed to the memetic defense.

"Hmm. Hm hm hm. It's an interesting thought," Dr. Finch says, "though I doubt it would work without being able to erase current memories. Which... that, too, could work in theory--having Macland Row 'unsee' whatever series of images planted the concept in the first place, but we'd be venturing into the territory of specific synapses and individual neurons housing very localized memories and... well. I fear that may be beyond even my capacity as a genius.

On the other hand! Simulating cleantex for Macland Row may not be a bad idea, if for no other reason than to help 'kickstart' his brain as the individual portions begin to communicate again. Memory loss and other cognitive impairments are a serious issue with the use of general anesthetics, and that's in practical circumstances--with Macland having been out for as long as he has, cleantex may provide a nice buffer in fighting off long term damage."

You also bring up Howler's apartment. With Shirai promising to stay off your collective back, now may be the most opportune time to try and break into Howler's apartment again.

"Oh, yeah," Michelle says. "E-mail lists and all that jazz... there's prob'ly stuff we could use in there for bustin' Carpenter and the gang."

"Not to mention," Fuse adds, "there's still a hidden entrance in there somewhere. I know Howler didn't shove that giant computer through the vent shaft--he had to have gotten it into that secret room somehow. It might not be important, but... I don't like having unanswered questions. Not with everything we have to deal with."

"Who ya wanna send to do that?," Caius asks you. "If Shirai ain't bullshittin' us, that oughta be a pretty easy job."

"If," Fuse adds. "Big if."

Aaalrighty. *cracks knuckles*

I'd like to suggest Michelle go with Fuse (with their guns and a machete in case they need to knock walls down) to Howler's to check it out, since Caius went through a windshield not so long ago and could probably use a break. Caius could kinda be there to watch the backs of Jane and Dr. Finch as they sync and do their thing. And make them cups of coffee or something maybe.

Ciaus?... Break? Unfortunate choice of window... I mean words.

I'm sure that experience was a real pane. It's not clear with how he reacted though. His tough-guy routine isn't transparent. But I defenestrate-I mean digress!

Ya, was thinking Fuse and Michelle go and Caius stay here with us. We do NOT want to be interrupted during this; having a little insurance towards that would be very good.

Well, if the Unthing is similar to the thing we talked to behind Bunker C's door, I'm afraid it's not going to let go easily. We might have to wipe Macland's memories from the club's infiltration, which was a handful of days before the forced sync.
We didn't exactly promise anything about bringing him back with full memories, so there's that. Gesenai will totally catch him up with current events anyway.

The problem with the memory wipe is we risk doing brain damage. We didn't promise Macland would be 100% but he has to be not-vegetable.

Nah, Jane would use the builtin mechanism that let brains forget memories. That doesn't cause brain damage in the technical sense (else I'm pretty brain damaged myself).

I think we should send Michelle and Fuse to Howler’s for now, and take a rat with us. That way we can check for a potential ambush. Or, we could send a raven to Howler’s place. Maybe both? I’m worried it could be an ambush ._. We don’t want our babies hurt.
Also, I think Caius should stay with Finch and Jane. I agree, he needs a break @.@ He can also monitor us, and potentially shake us out of it if need be.

Just throwing in if we need to blood-coffee-up let's do so.
