Fuse tries to light the wall on fire as Edison's passing through it, but he has to inch closer to get the spacing right. He's just a little too slow, and she escapes into the wall.

You ask about Jury's head.

"Look, uh--" Fuse starts, "...I sorta panicked. It... might still be back in Room 5."

You motion toward the big metal canister, trying to hatch a plan without alerting Edison to it. Fuse nods. If this is really the container Edison arrived in, then it stands to reason she could be trapped in it again.

You and Fuse keep your distance from the walls, watching both sides of the hallway.

As soon as Edison starts to climb out of one of the walls, you give her hands a quick spray with the fire extinguisher. The stream of water... both does and does not hit her. The water travels through her, but its trajectory alters upon moving through her body--fanning out and splashing. She visibly distorts, her shape briefly artifacting like an old VHS tape.

The overhead lights buzz and flash. Fuse attempts to lift the metal canister... but after a moment of straining, discovers he can't even budge it.

Edison recoils, withdrawing her hands back into the wall. You look at Fuse, who shakes his head. It looks like any plan involving the Zone Fifty canister will require the strength of Michelle or Caius.

You only have a little bit left in the extinguisher.

Well damn, get them both in here, then! :P

EDIT: By the way, I'm going to guess that when Fuse realised Edison was coming out of the wall for him, he chucked Jury's head as hard as he could at her before he made a break for it XD

theyre probably an electromagnetic construct... Have they tried to hide behind an insulator? doors have metallic material on them so they could "conduct" herself through it, albeit a little tougher because it isn't completely conductive. Maybe the canister isn't a conductor, but an insulator?
Swagner 18th Nov 2017, 12:34 AM edit delete reply
Well, she came straight through the floor once, at the very least she's able to push through things as insulative as drywall, concrete, and/or carpet.

We know now that at the very least, she doesn't like water, perhaps a trap could be set up in the kitchen? Overflow the sinks, flood the floor, that sort of thing?
Guest 18th Nov 2017, 12:46 AM edit delete reply
Its worth a shot. At best they get stuck in the water, at worst they shock the flood and shock us along with it.
Swagner 18th Nov 2017, 2:11 PM edit delete reply
Corollary to previous plan: see if there's any cling-wrap or something to electrically insulate their feet before standing in a puddle with an electro-ghost.
Xylas_Incarnum 18th Nov 2017, 12:26 AM edit delete reply
Well, that's lovely. Think the cafeteria kitchen has some sort of sprayer nozzle over one of the sinks?
Anyways we really need to get back in contact with the rest of the group.

Summon The Brutes, stat! While you're at it, get Fuse to light up the wall in rooms adjacent to Room 5, to keep her from escaping through other walls!

Maybe you could pick up the Lid to the capsule and smack her with it, as well? If it's the material in it that makes it Edison Resistant, then this should do some actual damage to her!

If she comes back out... WHEN she comes back out, have Fuse burn the area where the water is. Steam will be unpleasant for us biological types, but it should act as an effective barrier to Edison, which should give us time to get the bruisers in here.

Um, if we didn't have to worry about jury I won't have said, just leave...

Oh for a Muon trap about now.

Is there a sprinkler system on the roof? We wish, probably. Contact Finch with what we've found out and see what he can think of. Do we have the mental dexterity to keep the eyeball to the back of our heads and watch the entire room at once?
Twyll 18th Nov 2017, 1:09 AM edit delete reply
A sprinkler system would be excellent to find. Failing that, I think the idea of Fuse toasting the little water we have left into steam is probably our best bet.
Cuttlefish 18th Nov 2017, 1:00 AM edit delete reply
Hold on - if particles of water move through her, even in a very odd way... would blood? How much of our blood do we have on hand, and could we find some way to propel it through Edison? I'm not sure how much influence we could exert that way, but we just need her under our sway long enough to force back into her pod!
Portal In Time 18th Nov 2017, 1:34 AM edit delete reply
Portal In Time
While I doubt we could control her with our blood, we could always grow more blood out of our Red, probably. We haven't tested it out, and we might become an eldritch horror if we botch it up. But we do have an unlimited supply of our blood!
Cuttlefish 18th Nov 2017, 1:41 AM edit delete reply
Well, even if our blood phasing through her form doesn't work in the same way Fuse can't get a bead on her, at least infinite blood means infinite steam. The eldritch abomination thing probably has to go on the con list.

We need to make sure Caius and Michelle get the actually-aluminium-tinfoil hats, too, we can't have them charging in and get brain scrambled, so probably have them run as fast as possible and get those hats on them asap.

(on the side i did a thing XD)

The image feels all warm and fuzzy on the interior... Or just warm... or was it just fuzzy... ah well something.
Blue_Elite 18th Nov 2017, 4:06 AM edit delete reply
Ask Michelle (who was patrolling) and Caius for an ETA of them getting to the back door (if they're not headed through the school already, it's the quicker option).

Also inform them to say if they're feeling staticy/brain-scrambly as we may have to meet them half-way if the headgear is actually needed.

EDIT: Also grats Matt, I see GAG: Order is funded. ^_^

Ok, how about talking to her instead ?
We still have to explain that playing is all right but killing isn't. Play-killing can be fine too, if she learns the right way to do it.

We will not play with her anymore if she keeps being unreasonable.

Ice cream sounds good... assuming she can win a round.

Oh also, I do think Edison's body is inside the canister and her projection has a limited range; else she could just always go anywhere, but her initial comment about being allowed outside indicates that's not the case.

There's probably a panel on the canister to contain her projection, but just running away from the damn thing would also work.
Not that I want us to abandon her, but if she doesn't want to play nice there's always that.
Mochi 18th Nov 2017, 11:48 AM edit delete reply
the canister is confirmed to be completely empty when we first inspect it. also, you keep pushing to try and reason with her but she has made it clear that her only goal is murder. there is no reasoning with her. no more games. even her first game was just a contrived ploy to get her murder rocks off. she’s not a child — she’s a monster. a real monster. she pried a man’s teeth out of his skull with a sewing needle. plucked out his eyes. sewed his mouth and eye sockets shut. and we don’t even know if he was dead when she started. not to mention she managed to dismember jury, a highly advanced and highly trained government android. play time is over. we need to contain her before she gets loose and goes on a real rampage.
WalkerOfSorrow 18th Nov 2017, 1:22 PM edit delete reply
I second what Mochi says. We cannot reason with her anymore. She is farther from human than we (or arguably Mom) are. I would venture that she's either some kind of nanite swarm with an artificial intelligence, or she operates off similar mojo to the door of our base. She may not entirely exist within the same physical universe or dimensions.
PurpleKetchup 18th Nov 2017, 2:29 PM edit delete reply
Forgot the part about the canister being left open. So containing Edison would involve forcing her back inside, when we can't really touch her (tinfoil gloves ?).

Also, I don't think she's as dangerous as you put it (else she would have killed Fuse and Jane in a matter of minutes and be done already), but shall insist on it no more.

Is there a microwave in the kitchen? Those can interfere with some electronics. Oh but there is no power. Nvmd.
