Morgenstern
You start trying to peek through windows. Maybe Jury's head will just be like... sitting on a desk, out in the open.

You don't see her head hanging out anywhere.

You make your way through the cafeteria to the back part of the school to see if those doors are marked, too. They are.

"Door number 4 was opened earlier. Remember?"

It was. It creaked open when you and Blondie were messing around with the fire extinguisher and the eyeball.

"It might be a clue," Red says.

Or, it's an attempt to bait you into picking the wrong door. Same with door #1--it being the door you were just in, it seems funny that it's marked at all. Why make it an option? Unless that's the point--you would discard it immediately as the wrong choice, which makes it a perfect place to put the head. Unless Edison marked it just to make you think that... or for completion's sake.

"Wow," Red says. "You're overthinking this way more than Blondie would."

You point out that Blondie probably doesn't call herself Blondie. You picked that up from Michelle. Caius started doing it jokingly, but you're pretty sure he's made a habit out of it, too. The only person who still seems to call her by her real name is Dr. Finch.

The point stands: her subconscious wouldn't call her Blondie.

"True, true," Red replies. "I guess that means I'm really your brain right now. What does it say about you that I'm being so critical, then?"

Please. Lacking a better method of trying to contact Edison (without barreling straight through the #1 door), you call out loud for Edison's attention. Your cell phone starts ringing.

"Yes?," Edison asks once you answer the phone. "What's the problem?"

You ask for more information. You also ask if Edison plans on cheating.

"Cheat? Why, I would never," Edison replies. "That wouldn't be very sporting at all, would it? I want this to be like those game shows, and they don't very well cheat on them, do they?"

While they're still on the line clear up the basic rules: do we get to call a friend, what happens when we choose incorrectly, Eye gouging and tooth removal till we get it right or what? How many guesses do we actually have? when we pick one door does one door that doesn't have the head get eliminated and we're allowed to switch if we want to before confirming our choice?

Ah right ask why the room we left for the corridor was made door number 1 anyways? Technically that is cheating by stacking the deck with an added place that won't win unless Edison has the head on them. it's just more confusion than the game needs really.
.... Anyone else got any other variables to clarify?
Blue_Elite 16th Nov 2017, 6:10 AM edit delete reply
I'd... rather not ask her what the consequences of a wrong guess are. To put it in Freeza's words, "No please, do go on. Give me ideas!"
We should only ask questions that help us determine which door is the correct one; otherwise we may make it even harder on us.

Could we try yelling out to Jury? Her head may still be able to respond.

Well, if she IS cheating the unmarked door on the far left (the door we'd be guaranteed not to pick) would be the correct one. Though by that same logic (and the fact door 4 is now closed) it's very much possible she can just move the head from room to room anyway. So if she is cheating we can't really do anything about it.
Edison holds all the cards in this encounter, best to hope she's good to her word (and that Blondie remembers to level/pain-killer herself if she still can).

Shall we try and goad her into giving us a hint? Try to make it sound like it'd drive up the tension and make the game more exciting?
I think we could justify it by explaining us making a correct guess now would just be dumb luck; us making a guess by her hint would show off her skill and intelligence and prove how good of a goregamehost she is.

One thing I do want to clarify is if the five labelled classrooms from 1 to 5 that we see are the ONLY places the head could be. Because I know we haven't explored the whole school yet (could be more classrooms) and therefore don't know if there's secretly a #6 elsewhere. She definitely didn't say there are only 5 options.

I'll add more if I can think of any but right now... geez, psycho children are NOT part of the itinerary, let me tell you.

Edit: Seconding Blue_Elite here, by making it something like "oh yes, they don't cheat, but gamehosts do give questions that help players to pick the right door. Y'know, to give a brain challenge for both player and viewers."

Wanted to make this a completely separate tangent as it has nothing at all to do with the current situation: let's ask Red if she can change her hair color to green. Right now I suspect Blondie is being brain-scrambled and unable to perceive Red. If she can change her hair color, we can see what happens when (hopefully) Blondie is released.

So Fuse has his own "Red"... That fascinating really...

Can Fuse's red extend his senses? Maybe try to "Feel" the circuits that would be in Jury's head?

Gosh, I get on a plane and all sorts of stuff happens.

I second asking for fun hints. She could even give them in rhyme! That would be fun for her! (And might distract her from trying to use the clues too deviously.)

As things stand now we have 5 doors, 3 with Stuff beside them, two relatively normal. Been in #4 and #1 already, check the rest of the place for other doors first (like to the left of the big open ones) but if this is confirmed the whole set 3>2>5>4>1.
On Jane's side, if possible, offer Edison a tinfoil hat?

So now I'm wondering if this child is some kind of other half-alien.
PurpleKetchup 16th Nov 2017, 2:16 PM edit delete reply
I'm not entirely sure. Not another of Jane's mom's race, anyway (no massive reaction from Red when she grabbed her).
I'm expecting she's "just" a poor kid from the lower tiers who got a terrible mutation and killed everyone around her until she was locked up and (probably) experimented upon.

Sure, Shirai weaponised her against us, but I root for her to just be too happy to play outside to really focus on killing anyone.
The federal agent and Jury might have looked "too boring to play with". We definitely need to play - and not just play along; play for real, and push her towards safer games.

Remember that whole situation about how if Blondie died, somebody else would take over? We thought it would be Dr. Finch because he had the major blood transfusion back in The Hospital. But, but but but, maybe since Jane is incapacitated and her blood is being nullified with static, Fuse has simply.. Taken her role, for right now, simply because he has synced with her the most?

Anyways, yeah. Fuse, let's ask Edison what will happen if we pick the wrong door, and then pick door number three.

Did Dr. Finch start posting on his own comic?

Anyway, this Red would seem to imply that she's just our imaginary friend, looking like Blondie's Red cause Fuse has actually seen her. If Fuse had actually taken control of the alien other thing, he would be able to psychic do things which has not been shown yet, what with the lack of sudden extra senses from all the things Blondie has blooded.

I suggest that, when we ask her about the rules, we also ask Edison what name she would *like* to be called. After all, she said she doesn't have a "real" name, but she CAN have one if she wants. Hopefully that will make her like us, and maybe we can eventually convince through little gestures like that that we're worth more alive than dead, and provide more entertainment while alive than she'd get from killing us.

Hopefully we'll also be able to Calvinball the rules some, since generally the rules are flexible when you're playing games with friends, and there's some give-and-take when it comes to establishing rules. She might not be very experienced at playing with actual friends, though, if Zone 50 was as terrible at raising her as I suspect they were...
PurpleKetchup 16th Nov 2017, 2:19 PM edit delete reply
Definitely agreed on the Calvinball, although it's still quite the dangerous game.
