Michelle yells at the door.

"Hello? Somebody over there?"

No response.

She tries knocking in different patterns and rhythms, even morse code.

No response.

She tries pulling the door, and shaking it a bit.

No response.

Just as Michelle's about to give up

One.

Two.

Three loud, deliberate knocks from the other side of the door.

...Yeah, I'm perfectly content with just getting the hell out of there, tbh.

Mmm. I think Michell may as well leave that bunker.
Not makin much progress so...

I mean, we could try breaking through the door, but I don't think that's a great idea considering how geometry works here.

Just as before, three deliberate knocks. Will the response be any different if that specific pattern is used?

Note: Some plants can count to three.
Venus Flytraps are a good example.

Hmm, it's looking to be something behind the door pushing back or holding it still, that's not quite as strong as Michelle alone.
We could probably force the way open with more brawn, but I'm not sure we want to go there. Enaj was gentle enough to tell Jane she really doesn't want to go beyond one bunker's door, maybe all the bunkers have nasty stuff beyond their portals...
Blue_Elite 4th Nov 2017, 4:55 AM edit delete reply
That was a reverse backdoor portal. We tried entering a portal door from the opposite side and found enaJ.

This is a normal door. The portal is deactivated so that we can go through IT rather than the portal. So there should be no ellehciM shenanigans here.

We can't just leave it at this. If there's someone on the other side of that door, someone that has survived 100 years (likely a robot) and might know about the craziness going on here, I'd like to at least try attempting communication (we can wait on an actual face-to-face meeting).

EDIT: This was supposed to be a reply to Mochi. Ah well, that's what I get for not refreshing after posting and assuming all went well. :\

Communication at this point is limited to writing on a piece of paper and slipping it through the very slight opening created by Michelle.

Come to think of it, if Michelle has any paper on her, she should totally do that. Maybe a simple, "Hello, World!" message?
Blue_Elite 4th Nov 2017, 5:02 AM edit delete reply
Try communicating again. Maybe whatever was on the other side needed time to get to the door once it found out someone was there after 100 years!

If something goes awry, we can just trigger the portal and whatever potential abomination is on the other side can meet noitanimoba and allow Michelle to escape.

The portal has a failsafe hardcoded in that prevents the portal activation when either door is open, IIRC, as the portal is not so much to the doorway-area but literally to the door-plus-frame itself.

Scrape, punch, or kick the door and see if that different sound echoes three times after a given interval. If the previous knocking continues Leave. Could be a similar thing to those hands in the hospital.

That would beg the question: why would there be bioprinted monstrosities in the Zone 50 Bunker when they already have Lasker?
Azith 4th Nov 2017, 10:58 AM edit delete reply
So the door leads to itself across a temporal mirror? Now that's weird.

Possibly SOS in Morse code? It's ...---... so possibly. Or maybe it was ---...---. I don't remember. One of the two
