You bring your rat back into Bunker A.

You take a long, hard look at your two lists...

and realize you don't know what most of this stuff is.

You head back to Bunker D. The infirmary door is still shut, so Dr. Finch is probably finishing up his work on Fuse. It shouldn't be too much longer, you don't think.

You find Caius and Michelle drinking beers and looking at the flowers in the right side hallway.

You update them on what you've discovered, and you show them your two lists.

"Some of this, I think we could salvage from some of the places hit by the Tobu hack," Michelle says. "Like, I'm seein' some smaller parts here that are in cars an' stuff nowadays, and there's prob'ly hardware stores an' the like that got abandoned, too. We might not be able to hit it today, 'cuz--" Michelle pulls out her cell phone and looks at it for a second. "--I think it's night out there by now? Maybe?"

You nod. It was getting dark out when you made the jump between bunkers.

"Geez," Caius says. "For real? I completely lost track of time down here. ...Up here. Out here."

Michelle grins. "We've had a busy day, between Grizwald and bunker science. Anyway, Some of this list is gettable, I think... y'might have to ask Fuse about the rest of it, though. I'm not real familiar with everything on the list."

You also ask about winter clothes.

"Pfftt, I wasn't really expectin' ice when I went shoppin'," Michelle says. "I got you some long sleeved stuff, but nothin' heavy duty. I guess you could borrow my jacket if you wanna visit Bunker B--it ain't much on me, I just bought it for the pockets, but it might be warm enough on you. Could go out and buy you a coat... either way."

Shall we call it a night and get ready to sleep then?

Anything Fuse doesn't know about we can ask Jury about (hopefully).

Also would Michelle's jacket be oversized on us? 'Cuz sleeve-gloves could work out nicely.

I'm thinking we might actually want to have someone else visit Bunker B instead of us, simply because of the risk of whatever's in the tubes somehow reacting to the presence of our blood. It's not a huge risk in that it's not very likely, but it IS a huge risk in that if it happened, it would probably be really, really bad.

If we have Michelle or Caius visit, it would probably be easier for them to carry the boxes of whatever parts we do manage to scrounge up by the time we get there. Finch or Fuse would be more in their area of expertise. Maybe we should plan to do some shopping/scrounging tomorrow, then just have everyone who isn't us go in and deliver the goods, and try to get info from the proto-Juries on what's actually in the tubes (so we can guess whether or not they'd react to our blood), then make the decision on whether to send Jane in.

Oooh, also I realized that when we bring the parts in, we'll have an excuse to snoop around under the guise of putting parts away in drawers or whatever :3

When it comes to shopping, I'd like to add a few things to the list: we should probably stock up on non-perishable foodstuffs like rice and beans (is the power supply in the bunkers compatible with modern appliances? a cheap rice cooker might help too), because getting pizza all the time is probably draining our funds faster than we really should be spending food money. It's probably a good idea to have snack foods easily accessible, at least. Don't forget condiments like salt and such-- especially salt, because if we're getting a lot of blood drawn for experimentation/blood shenanigans purposes, we need to make sure we can keep our blood pressure up.

For general exploratory purposes, some items from my usual tabletop adventuring setup (modified for a futuristic setting) might be useful to start stockpiling: marbles/ball bearings, chalk/markers/reflective tape, a small mirror on a stick for seeing around corners, rope, twine/paracord, enough flashlights for everyone, crowbar, grappling hook, vials/test tubes, magnifying glass, binoculars. Also, pocket sand (the poor man's flash grenade). Obviously we'll look really suspicious buying all this stuff at once, but if we can be gradually acquiring a bit of it every time we go out shopping, that would be ideal.

Can we buy cold-weather clothing without looking too suspicious? Is the city climate-controlled or too warm to generally require cold-weather clothing? We might just have to buy some blankets or Snuggies and make do with that. Or warm bathrobes.

Also, we should probably consider getting some more animals, since the ones we have are constantly proving themselves useful. Are there stray cats in this area, or elsewhere in the city? Feral cats are difficult enough to get rid of that I suspect there are quite a few of them out there, plus the rodent control aspect probably being very appealing to people who might have to tussle with mutant rodents. So, setting out some humane cat traps with tuna cans inside might be a good idea. We could also use simple traps for catching snakes, since snakes are actually surprisingly common in urban environments.

I'd actually like to have a rabbit or two for Mars, as well (as a keen-eared leak detection system), though I suspect those are only found in the upper tiers. Wondering if it would be a better idea to just go to a pet store and see what we can find there (and possibly grab another rat or two while we're at it), or if the trip up to the upper tiers would be worth it. Alternatively, we could send a raven up there and actually blood the bunnies via raven-- although we'd eventually have to go pick them up ourselves, because having the bunnies come down from the upper tiers by themselves would be a trek worthy of a Watership Down sequel :P

EDIT: Also, don't forget meditation before bed!

I agree but we probably shouldn't "snoop around" their stuff, I have a feeling this will seriously piss off the androids. They might see it as 'damage'
Twyll 17th Oct 2017, 6:38 PM edit delete reply
Hence having an excuse for snooping-- the idea isn't to mess with anything, just to notice what's there while helping them sort stuff. That was *mostly* a non-serious remark, though. ...mostly. The urge to snoop is strong >_>;

But yeah, if they don't want help organizing or using any of the stuff we bring, let's not press the issue XD

Why am I starting to imagine Willard in a cute fluffy coat... I should do a fan art on this

Anyway, we should try to start with the short list, but probably not now. And when we do go in bunker B let's try to be careful what we do, we don't want 2 angry androids trying to kill us. And could we send another note asking what would happen if the facility stoped existing. And lastly, we should prank someone before we go to bed

Twyll 17th Oct 2017, 6:40 PM edit delete reply
I am fully in favor of this Willard-in-a-coat imagery. Even if he probably doesn't really need it cuz he *already* has a fur coat.

Let's not mess with pranks, though. People being forced to live close together under tension-inducing circumstances doesn't really mesh well with pranks.

I mean like a funny light-hearted prank, like swapping someone's pillows or something

Where's Fuse's visor? I may have an idea...
Steve 17th Oct 2017, 11:24 PM edit delete reply
That idea being to put the visor onto Lil-Red.
Twyll 18th Oct 2017, 12:44 AM edit delete reply
Okay, now THAT'S the kind of prank I can get behind.

I say, we quit for the night, and in the morning, show Finch our list. I vote Finch be our main person who actually talks to the proto-Jurys.
rufiangel 17th Oct 2017, 7:31 PM edit delete reply
I might be alone in this, but I'm kinda thinking why not pull on Michelle's jacket and pop in real quick into Bunker B to say hi? If the tubes are making our blood tingle then we can back out, but otherwise it'd be nice to just ask the Proto-Juries for their names (besides Regretful and StopSayingThat) and maybe get a better look at what's frozen behind the glass. Just to say hello, we'll be back tomorrow, keep in touch sorta thing -v- also we could gauge how cold it really is XD
Steve 17th Oct 2017, 7:46 PM edit delete reply
I agree on that possibly being a good idea... but I really don't want Jane going in there alone. Do we wanna take Michelle, Caius, or solo it like the boss Jane probably is at this point?
rufiangel 17th Oct 2017, 8:08 PM edit delete reply
I have no idea how impervious to cold Michelle or Caius are as tube-cop types. Now could be the time to find out? XD;;;

In any case if this *is* the course of action taken, I would imagine it just being a very brief visit so hopefully not much time for any cold to really sink in. Really just heeeey 'sup folks, okay see ya tomorrow sorta thing. XD; It won't take long for Dr. Finch and Fuse to be done, too, ya?
rufiangel 17th Oct 2017, 8:29 PM edit delete reply
As a side-note, I thought it was kinda cute to find Caius and Michelle drinking beers together and looking at the flowers XD I would imagine neither of them have had much contact with nature, given the concrete jungle that is this city. So quiet nature-loving bonding time lol <3
Baeronius 17th Oct 2017, 10:57 PM edit delete reply
Or... it may send them into a small depression. As the flowers are tube products... ya know.
rufiangel 17th Oct 2017, 11:01 PM edit delete reply
You spot of sunshine, Baer -v-

Seriously though I think that wouldn't bother them all that much, they talk about it candidly all the time! XD;

The fact Jane is capable of extending their life is a game changer for the both of them, so I doubt they'll be depressed about *that*. :)
Morgenstern 18th Oct 2017, 12:02 AM edit delete reply
Might not be much in the way of updates until tomorrow, just as a heads up to everybody.
rufiangel 18th Oct 2017, 12:29 AM edit delete reply
Aww okay, noted MM! Thanks for the headsup. :) I hope all's good on your end.

Well, my boss took off early and told me to do whatever I wanted in the last couple of hours in the office, so I spent it productively updating the fan page, lol. While I was doing so, it reminded me that there are some blood skills we could probably explore a little further with Jane now that we have a little bit of time.

One is boosting the immune system substantially; it probably goes hand in hand with whatever it takes to prevent aging. Dr. Finch can probably assist Jane in honing that particular skill - she already has it, but it could be a lot stronger.

The other unexplored avenue is electrical impulses. Like, maybe it's because I've seen Getbackers, but it's something worth messing around with I think. Maybe we shouldn't practice on our friends just yet, maybe start with an inanimate object. XD;

Anyway, on top of minor edits to all the sections, the fan art section itself has now been renamed to fan works to include all the new fun stuff people have been posting. Please keep sharing all the fun BiM fanworks people :D
Bluhx2 18th Oct 2017, 5:07 AM edit delete reply
The immune system thing could work as something to "extend" our lab meat friends too.

Electrical impulses... technically, we can numb pain, and feeling is mostly electrical impulses sent to the brain. We can cause pain, numb pain, cause pleasure... etc. Crazy stuff if we know what we're doing.

Also the fan works section! Sweet :v
