After talking it over with the others a bit, you all decide to eat before messing with the old bio printer.

You mention Macland's slight brain activity to everyone.

"Could be a problem," Michelle says. "There's a chance he learned somethin' from your mind, right?"

"Not only that," Dr. Finch says, "but he may be well aware that Carpenter was responsible for what happened to him... or at least, he may be able to deduce as much. That's going to create quite a stir, if Thale is using this to steer Shirai. Macland actually waking up could change the game a great deal... though it's hard to gauge who would be favored. Though, mild activity is far from a proper recovery... it may still be nothing, at this point."

"That's really all we got? A big question mark?," Caius asks.

Dr. Finch nods. "We don't truly understand what process Carpenter put Macland through... or if Carpenter, perhaps, altered it for his own purposes. The man's a psychopath--predicting what damage he's caused, how, or why are all an exercise in frustration."

You also propose, again, planting Little Red in Bunker A. You've heard Fuse and Dr. Finch's takes, and Caius has said he doesn't venture into the lab much anyway... but you haven't really heard from Michelle about it.

Michelle shrugs. "Not gonna lie, the idea of havin' a giant mouth in the wall kinda weirded me out at first. The little meatball's kinda grown on me, though... I think I'd be alright lettin' him grow up in our HQ. Finch seems like he'd get the most outta talkin' to your mom's red, and Finch hates Bunker C."

"It deeply troubles me," Dr. Finch adds. "I can't stop thinking about what the outside must look like, or... if you cut the top off of the outside, how would... it just... it's irrational. I don't like it."

"Yeah, all that," Michelle concludes. "Bunker B's too cold an' it might freak out the robots, and this bunker's... well, it's prob'ly better if Big Red don't try to grow itself from Earth to Mars."

I agree with the lines of reasoning here. I'm sure Caius will grow used to having the red around :P

I guess we'd better make sure we know who needs what operations done. Are we just working on Fuse, or will we be able to fix Jane's hearing as well? What about the chemical burns she got to her back in the warehouse; did we ever get those treated, or did those injuries not require a bioprinter?

Also, does Michelle want her facial scars fixed, or does she think they look cool? :P

Could be less about looking cool and more because she got it doing something cool. Ain't everyone who gets to fight monsters, and yet fewer who live through it.

Dr. Finch must have ranted about Bunker C to Michelle at some point off-screen, since she wasn't there to see his nope reaction XDD Imagining him ranting about it to a bemused Michelle while she drives in the truck on the way to the bio paste supplier makes me smile XD lolol man, he *hates* it, huh? Yeah, let's go with Bunker A, I think. -v- A day or so is not too long~ (EDIT: As a side-note, I'm kind of bemused at Michelle's comment about Bunker B, kinda like it was an option at all! XD Come to think of it, we should try reaching out to Jury again, maybe after we graft Fuse some new skin. Just to find out what the deal with Bunker B is, if she's aware.)

Their take on Macland is not too surprising; it's just too early to say otherwise. At least we all have an inkling of possibility, though, that Macland might, uh, rise again. I suppose we'll see...

By the way, it's okay to have beer before a skin graft, right? ._. (I honestly have no idea, so...)

It is nice to just chill and have pizza and beers, in a secret bunker mess hall overflowing with yellow daisies, on Mars. I love this comic.

She should be aware. She must have been part of Zone 50 before it collapsed, at least, since she had records of Dad Doe or something.

She was built by Zone Fifty so it's fair to say she has excellent chance of knowing stuff, yep. She was also aware of this bunker's location to begin with, so... she's probably aware of its many, uh, parts. But she may not have been aware of *all* the bunkers the magical door connected to. Keep in mind that Zone Fifty had infighting within itself, and we've seen that different departments were quite isolated from one another so some classified information was on a need-to-know basis. We've been hacking our way into the system with fake credentials sooo anything goes on our end XD;;; We'll see about how much Jury knows eventually, I hope!

"By the way, it's okay to have beer before a skin graft, right?"

This reminds me, we should see if we can use our blood-abilities to de-toxify the bloodstream with the beer. Could come in VERY handy.
Though like, that'll kill our buzz so hopefully we'll only need to practice this one time. :|

Imagining a drunk squad... Fuse becomes a rant-y drunk, Finch is a curious drunk, Michelle and Caius are depressed drunks, and Jane is a happy... or flirty drunk.
Twyll 16th Oct 2017, 3:59 AM edit delete reply
Fuse is probably a ranty drunk yeah, but I think Michelle is probably a happy drunk (lots of slightly over-firm back-slapping), Caius is a dramatically weepy drunk (just bursts into tears at everything, but recovers quickly), Jane is a giggly drunk, and Finch is a dancing-y drunk (physically incapable of rounding a corner without turning it into a grapevine or jazz square somehow).

I see both Michelle and Caius to be depressed drunks since both of them seem to know that they're on an expiration date :p and dancing Finch seems cool :v

Jane might be flirty or happy, or perhaps 'huggy' would be a better term. OR, split personality now that her inner Red has been awoken, and inner Red takes control and 'socializes' or attempts to.

Just as long as you don't imagine me drunk. You'll be okay.

I don't drink, like at all. It just hurts my throat and makes my stomach upset.

I feel like pointing out to Dr. Finch that we've already discovered portal tech. It's more than likely Bunker C likely just has a portal connecting it's top to it's bottom to cause the weirdness. It was probably created as an experiment in using the portals as an energy source by dropping something through the portal, letting it accelerate through repeated cycles, and collecting the kinetic force to see how that compared with the energy cost of running the portal. I'd venture to guess our strange high-power generators run on a similar principle but much more compact.

"Cutting off the top" would probably just be breaking the portal and you'd have a boring building with the top missing, or you'd cut above the portal, look down, and see bedrock that the other side of the other portal was pressed against.

yay first time giving input to this series!

Lil' Red can grow in Bunker A, because then Bigger Red V.2 can then spawn new Lil'Redâ„¢ for the space-time-warp bunker C!

Is that an option? We should ask if that's an option.
Twyll 16th Oct 2017, 3:22 PM edit delete reply
Y'know, it probably IS an option-- the main body can just send more material over. Having a backup red terminal in a different location wouldn't be a bad idea. Heck, we could use them as a kind of intercom to talk between bases XD

Another chibi fanart (because to be honest I don't think I would have wanted to draw this in a non-chibi non-cute-ifying manner :'D) of Michelle and Fuse - this time, when Michelle was freaking out over Fuse's burns the first time on this page:

image

"It's not that bad," said Fuse. >_>

I'm liking this chibi style a lot :3

Fuse could be saying

"I'm so hot." in this picture.

Does Jane Doe's blood alcohol level have any affect on her Red?
