You, Fuse, and Dr. Finch grab the small table and the foot locker from the barracks area. You head to Bunker C, and let the raven back outside.

The three of you stack the items on top of each other, giving Fuse juuust enough height to reach the ceiling.

Dr. Finch peers over the edge of the platform as Fuse moves one of the ceiling tiles aside.

"The real mystery," Fuse says, "is what the hell they made this glow stick out of. Like, it didn't break. That's impressive."

You can see the very distant green glow moving far, far below, as Fuse grabs it from the ceiling and shakes it about.

"I... am very uncomfortable with the implications of this," Dr. Finch states.

Fuse tosses the glow stick to you. "If we pulled all the tiles back," he says, "and got binoculars we could like... see ourselves down there."

"I do not think I want to do that," Dr. Finch responds.

You ask if there's anything else up there. Down there. Wherever.

"Nah," Fuse says, shining a flashlight around above the ceiling tiles. You can faintly see the flashlight below. It's so far down that, if not for how completely dark the hole otherwise is, you wouldn't normally be able to see it. "Just a rock. I guess they put the ceiling here so stuff wouldn't just... fall forever. Like, imagine taking all the tiles out, then jumping too far from the platform to grab back onto it. You'd just... keep circling through, over and over, watching the door pass at a hundred miles an hour until you starved to death--"

"I'm leaving," Dr. Finch says as he starts to walk out. "This room is going to give me nightmares."

Seconded. This would be a much better location. Mom's red upgraded to Tardis.

dudecallmecool 9th Oct 2017, 12:37 AM edit delete reply
idea.. bad idea possibly
take off all of the tiles and then throw them all in, including a bunch of rocks, and then we'll have a giant blender to destroy things :D

So, are we actually letting Lil-Red live here? GUYS? Who's with me on this? I'm going to say, let's get 5 votes yes before we do it. I vote yes tho.

I'm not sure I would want mom's Red here, though. Where would we put baby Red in here? It's a pretty dangerous place and given the space warp I don't know if mom's red can so easily connect without further warping reality and space. I'm kind of iffy. >ㅅ<;; can we at least check out bunker D first?

Hrm. My eagerness aside... I was figuring that due to how screwy local space was here, it wouldn't have been too much of a problem, and may have even played into the favor of mom's Red. Wouldn't hurt to shelf the idea for now, in any case because... yeah. We still need to give bunker D a more proper examination. I kinda got side-tracked by the screwy nature of C, to be honest.

Where we'd put lil red:
On the floor... accessed via the ceiling.

Okay, yeah, I thought it was an infinitely-looping shaft. I mean, I knew it, but it's still incredible. God damn. In any case, I do believe this may well actually be a perfect place for our important friend to take root in. Maybe we should find a way to get them up onto the ceiling-floor?

Fuse said out loud exactly what I was thinking lolol XD

Maybe Dr Finch could study how this room works and kind of figure out portal mechanics (when he's less spooked XD) :D that sounds pretty cool ya? We're kind of in two places at the same time, so weird. This really throws one for a loop doesn't it ;D eh eh

So, we have;
Bunker A, housing
Bunker B, frozen terror and androids
Bunker C, bottomless portal happy fun time with a floor
Bunker D, it has flowers?

Now seems like as good a time as any to look further into the last of the lot... but we know that it's important to proceed with caution. HOW MUCH CAUTION DO YOU GUYS SUGGEST?
Guest 9th Oct 2017, 1:01 AM edit delete reply
Probably a good bit. Though I personally would think the air is safe if a rat could get in and plants are growing (most likely originating from behind the door might i add) just fine, there's plenty of other reasons the bunker could be dangerous.
Steve 9th Oct 2017, 1:11 AM edit delete reply
Bunker B had androids and god knows what was in those cryo pods. Bunker C was a bottomless pit with a floor installed. At this point, nothing can surprise me with Bunker D. Carver could be there, we could have treants, the Garden of Eden, or Enyo for that matter. The fountain of youth, or just a freaking greenhouse, 2 kilometers below the crust. Bring it on.

And that's exactly why we should be careful.
Memo 9th Oct 2017, 1:15 AM edit delete reply
I would like to test the pit for sideways draft.
We could remove a single tile above the pit, and drop the glow stick again, so it would hit the hole. If it does, we know there is no draft, and we can test if things keep falling when we leave. Also, we might get a perpetual falling glow stick, and I really want that :)
In regards to planting Baby Red there, I vote no

All of my yes to this.

Just remembered, we should check the gps, to se where we are in the world.

There's probably another door somewhere down there.

But there's also the conundrum of gravity. You would be unable to fall eternally through this system, because where the portal is...

there would be gravity equally above and below you coming from both sides.

The reasoning for this is that gravity goes toward the center of greatest mass. And as soon as you passed through the portal, there would be an upward toward the gravity core (because the shortest distance to the core would be up and around the portal) and a weaker gravity force out the other side, as that core point is further away.

If gravity looked like running water, the portal would essentially be a boulder in the water that splits the flow around it, then it would have eddies that circle back around to fill the void area behind, which would be the side of the portal we can get to.

Hence if you followed the water, the water coming out of the portal would collide with water traveling the other direction in the same stream. Making an eddy zone behind the exit of the portal.

So this eddy zone would be above us because the further portal has the weaker total pull.
