You hand the baby red to Dr. Finch, who... seems a little nervous about taking it, but does so. You tell the rat to stay in here, as well. You tell him to head down the vent, or hide in the closet, if necessary.

You send a message to Fuse and Michelle that something might be going on.

You give a boost of adrenaline to Caius in an attempt to wake him up sooner. It may still take a bit for him to stir.

You slowly, quietly, make your way toward the living room. You check around every door on your way. You listen, but you don't hear anything.

You try not to be seen as you peek into the living room, but Michelle immediately looks up from her cell phone. Caius stares straight at you, as well, as though they were waiting for you to walk in.

"I came as quick as I could," she says. "Something's come up... you need to see this." She holds up her cell phone, briefly. It looks like a news site is brought up on it, but you don't get a good look at what it says.

don't go near her. stall for time.

this stinks of shirai. she's the only one stupid enough to try something like this.
rufiangel 3rd Oct 2017, 3:19 AM edit delete reply
Oh, absolutely. Only she could have the resources to pull this off. Yeesh, this is elaborate.
Mochi 3rd Oct 2017, 3:24 AM edit delete reply
it's also... kind of insulting. like, she could have had the courtesy to do her damn research. how stupid does she think we are? she has no idea what we're capable of, she doesn't know about the blood link, or michelle's injuries, or anything. otherwise she'd know this would never work. this is insulting. i'm insulted! i am legitimately angry that she thinks we're this fucking dumb.

They weirdly got their clothes right, though. Bizarre.

Maybe they're only trying to get us to lower our guard for a split second? I mean, it's sort of a good idea if that's all you want. For more than 0.2 seconds, though... yeah. Shirai, you need to get more than just their clothes right. XD;;;;

EDIT: (After seeing the next page) well, THAT explains it, at least for Caius XDDD

Well, we might have doppelgangers.... Or at least as doppelganger-y as tube cops can get...

Maybe see if there's a way to play along without getting too close to them, if we need to stall for time; but let the others know that we got company.

Politely ask who the fuck they are.
Guest 3rd Oct 2017, 3:12 AM edit delete reply
I don't exactly think we should do anything to provoke the doppelgangers quite yet... We should stall for time so fuse and michelle have a head start on getting here, caius has a head start on waking up, and so we can scope out the situation.

Try to sense through Michelle, just in case there's more to this than simple doppelgangers.

it's very clearly not michelle unless she somehow had half her face reconstructed and healed a black eye in the span of like, an hour.

Or she found the makeup drawer, and gave herself a touch-up to look less bruised.

Guessing these two are fresh from the cloning tubes.
As a basic assessment of capabilities,I would guess they can do everything the originals can, but more extreme.
Much shorter lifespan, much stronger.
Might be augmented or have some hidden trick.
Suffice to say, don't let them know you know.

We're not in the position to fight 1:2 right now - not two tube-cop types at full strength. -v-;;;

I suggest stalling for time to give Caius enough time to wake up, I think. If we immediately act suspicious of them, they'll just resort to using force immediately and drop the act, and I don't know if we can last long under that kind of situation.

Like... just ask a million questions, even bizarre ones, and make matter-of-fact-sounding statements like "You remember that I can't touch cellphones, right? I just short them right out with my weird blood powers, ha, ha. And you're not supposed to come near me, not after THAT incident. Read whatever's on that cellphone really nice and slow."

Always be on guard and ready to duck and dash, and possibly disarm, though, if it comes to that. Man.

Actually, we are capable, but we just don't like the concept of mutating to fight off intruders, cause we're not sure how to fully form back. I mean we haven't really tried fixing the problems in our arm and torso yet... have we? Did I forget another bit?
Baeronius 3rd Oct 2017, 3:24 AM edit delete reply
Oh wait... if these are Doppelgangers this is one of those embarrassing moments that we can get them to do something bizarre and act as if it's completely normal.

Like we could squeal like a guinea pig, and roll on the floor, then ask Caius if he remembers that.
Heh Heh. And if he says no, you can say "but it was just yesterday! How could you forget your dance? Comeon do another dance!"

But then again everyone else feels rather serious I think...

--The serious response would be to get them to think that nothing is particularly out of place possibly engage them in conversation, and ask them about the phone.

If they're fakes you can make up something like "remember how I get headaches around phones?". See if they respond oddly to that, or if they think it could be real.
