You hug Michelle.

You try not to hug her too tightly, since she's wounded, but

you hug her and you cry.

"I ain't... I ain't even gonna ask," she says, hugging you back.

You slow her bleeding and you give her painkillers, for now. You want to wait and do proper first aid once you're out of here.

You do a quick check of the bodies. You don't find much. Prophet has a cell phone with a decently long list of names and numbers in it, including Harold Hope... which prompts you to put the phone back down. You figure you can cleantex yourself later if you want to research the numbers, but the phone itself is dangerous. You inject your blood into Prophet's body--just in case--and you draw some of his grey blood. You're not even sure why, you just... do.

You don't find much else. Two knives, and a wallet with very little money in it. It's mostly quiet until the end, when Michelle speaks up. "I'm not complainin', but no guns?"

You mention there was a distinct lack of guns at the warehouse, too.

"Must be some dumb cult thing," Michelle suggests. "Thou shalt carry no guns, and not wear a lot of shirts."

You head downstairs just long enough to finish wiggling your gun out of the surveillance office and floating it across the hole.

You check on Fuse and Caius, who are still safely back at the motel. You check on Dr. Finch, who is... asleep again? Or unconscious. He's not awake, and currently being loaded on a stretcher into another unmarked truck. Two men in suits and one in medical garb are arguing over which hospital to send him to for the remainder of his recovery.

You check on the rat and the ravens. Everyone's fine. You don't see anything abnormal.

You walk back out to your car and discover the tires have all been slashed.

"For real?" Michelle sighs. "Prophet had to get that last fuck you in, didn't he?"

Phew. It's good to get a bit of a good ol' cathartic cry in there. Michelle. <3 SO glad you're alive.

And sigh, of course he slashed our tires.

They're shifting Dr. Finch? Huh. Do we still have our raven in vicinity? If we do, better track him discreetly again.

And... welp, guess we're taking the train back.

EDIT: I mean... alternatively we could steal someone else's tires. We do have a jack and lug wrench. But like... is there any car nearby handy to do that with XD

EDIT2: I mean, is there any enemy vehicle nearby actually? Like, surely those cultist jokers didn't *walk* here from the lower tiers, right? Can we jack their tires?
Akasha 23rd Sep 2017, 3:17 AM edit delete reply
Alternatively! There's that one car that crashed into the hospital that kept Michelle stuck in the break room for a good portion of the first chapter. That still around anywhere? If so, maybe we could take the tires from that, provided they're in a usable condition.
Cuttlefish 23rd Sep 2017, 6:05 AM edit delete reply
Alternatively alternatively, how did Prophet get here? Because, you know, he doesnt need it anymore...
Varil1024 23rd Sep 2017, 2:54 AM edit delete reply
Well obviously we should just fill the tires with BLOOD.

Dammit. I forget, do we have another car? Can Caius and Fuse come give us a ride? Maybe meet us a little ways away in case we're still being watched or they have an ambushed prepared. They could bring spare tires, if we can find any.

....hey, how did the bad guys get here? Maybe there's another car around?

Anyway, calling Future Uber is probably out so I guess we'll walk unless our buddies can come give us a ride.

Keep in mind that Finch's apparent release MAY be a trap. He'll almost certainly be very closely watched, but as long as he isn't in any major danger and isn't be restrained any more, maybe it would be wise to just leave him to recover in a proper hospital? We can keep him informed and if he has a chance he can talk us a bit to curb the boredom.
Mochi 23rd Sep 2017, 3:19 AM edit delete reply
our only other two vehicles are at dr. finch's house -- his car, and michelle's truck.
WalkerOfSorrow 23rd Sep 2017, 3:35 AM edit delete reply
What if we blood the tires and use our powers to fill them with air, then mend the rubber once they're good and pressurized?
Mochi 23rd Sep 2017, 2:58 AM edit delete reply
!!!!!!!!!! FINCH

take a look around. these assholes had to have gotten here somehow. i'm sure fuse knows how to hotwire a car, we'll just take our stuff out of our car and steal one. or if we want to take the time, we have a lug wrench and a jack, so we could just steal tires instead of a whole car.

I have the urge to send a Raven to Shirai and have it say "Nevermore."
Cuttlefish 23rd Sep 2017, 3:10 AM edit delete reply
I mean, we could attach a note to a raven and get the bird to duck through a hospital window and drop it off on Mac. Of all our many enemies, I feel like Shirai has the most cause to turn on Thale if they'd hear us out. I doubt anyone else on team TH gives a damn about Mac anymore.

Grab some more soda from the vending machine in the break room. Have a refreshing drink.
Drop all the bodies into the big hole in the basement to hide evidence.
Contact Fuse and Caius and get a ride to a different motel from your old base of operations.
Burn the hospital down behind you as you leave.
Baeronius 23rd Sep 2017, 3:08 AM edit delete reply
But... where does the hole go? Does it lead to one of Carpenter's labs? Is there decent info to be had, or more constructs?
Cuttlefish 23rd Sep 2017, 3:18 AM edit delete reply
Does it matter? Fill it with bodies! Drop a burning hospital on it! Drink soda!

Although it's probably a sewerline or something, so maybe just leave the bodies in the hospital for incineration. I don't think either of the two of them would be up for cave delving right now.

likely a loading dock or something

I finally caught up after a day of not being able to check on my new favorite comic. MM, you are an amazing writer. The final encounter with Prophet was really some Psycho Mantis level bullshit, and I join the crowd of those glad to see him dead.

I'm also so proud of my fellow audience members. You did so well, and the rage and blazing glory was beautiful to behold.
tor 23rd Sep 2017, 3:51 AM edit delete reply
kay, do we call a pick up service for the car? Also we should probably tell Caius that Mr. Gasmask is dead now, as well as fill them in on what happened.
tor 23rd Sep 2017, 5:13 AM edit delete reply
Also can we ask Michelle how the battle between Biomech and Flesh Hulk went?
Zeddy 23rd Sep 2017, 5:05 AM edit delete reply
How did prophet get here, though? Can we take their car?
Nayru9572 23rd Sep 2017, 7:35 AM edit delete reply
Maybe we should put another blood warning on Finch? What if they check his blood while he's out, and can't signal us? And definitely have the raven follow him.
Kitty 23rd Sep 2017, 11:16 AM edit delete reply
Good idea, I second the blood alarm thing.

Silly non-canon fancomic that would have happened shortly after 'Patch Fuse up', written by Mochi with 10% contribution from me XD (contribution: Fuse's reaction lol)

Have some silliness after the sheer intensity that was today's sequence of updates -v-)/ <3
Akasha 23rd Sep 2017, 9:35 AM edit delete reply
Man, after the roller coaster ride the last few pages were, I can certainly appreciate something decidedly more light-hearted rn. So, thanks for that. (Also, Michelle in that last panel is far too adorable. It's incredible.)
rufiangel 23rd Sep 2017, 7:53 PM edit delete reply
@Akasha: Aw, I'm very happy you enjoyed the silliness XD <3 much love for Michelle baby boo XD

Just drive slowly, is all. Flats don't get too damaged from that.
Mochi 23rd Sep 2017, 11:58 AM edit delete reply
back after a very long sleep and i’m still super satisfied with how the last few pages went. how prophet wasn’t expecting jane to react with anger. how she reacted to someone having the gall to try and take her family from her. how we broke him before he broke us. how he died terrified and alone.

i said “thank you” a page or two ago and i want to be clear that i do mean that. this whole scene with prophet was so… cathartic. marking him as dead on the fan page made me feel so much better after the fake out. this was a really satisfying sequence and it makes me happy now that it’s over and i can go back and read it in its entirety.

*checks the fan page*

Deserves all he got? Yeah, gotta agree with that. Might wanna link it to where, but... heheheh

i might’ve been angry when i wrote that >>

Anyone else think how Michelle was able to deal with that thing is a little too convenient? I half expected Mr. Carpenter to rig his abomination with some sort of trap in case it was defeated.
tor 23rd Sep 2017, 1:39 PM edit delete reply
I'm pretty sure this is a set up so that we look like Killers to the police. Or at least get Blondie to look like a killer. (I'm pretty the multiple stabbings on Mr. Gasmask aren't going to help). Let's hope when Fuse shut down surveillance that it cut this part out to.
Kitty 23rd Sep 2017, 3:49 PM edit delete reply
It could also just be that they seriously underestimated us. Prophet was obviously *terrified* at the idea that we were able to break through his control, and it seemed like something he had really never considered to be a possibility. And Carpenter has at least a few screws loose. He may well have focused so hard on making his amazing biomechanical nightmare that he never bothered figuring out what might happen if it didn't win.

Could we check in on everyone for a moment, just to see how they're doing and to avoid any other surprises? I keep expecting things to go wrong on Finch's side next...

Hmmm...very good hints Morgenstern. I'm glad you and I have similar thoughts,in this plot device.

Everyone lets ask Michelle if we may draw some of her blood. Just in case Ms.Agent has a little more than just marksmanship up her sleeves.

No more delays,we leave here first thing, the plans to meet up with the agent is a must!
