You act as quickly as you can. You pry open your first aid kit, you grab a scalpel, you cut yourself. You bleed into your handgun and you throw it across the room, discharging it somewhere behind the monster.

You were right--it can't see, but it can still hear.

"THERE YOU ARE!," Carpenter's distorted voice screeches. The monster turns, firing wildly at where it heard the gunshot. You sync yourself and Michelle with Caius and you charge the door, attempting to maneuver around either side of the creature. It hears your footsteps, but it can't react fast enough--you tuck and roll under its swinging blade, Michelle briefly grappling with its gun arm to keep it from getting a shot off until you can both make it out the door safely.

You both run out into the hallway...

and are stopped at the gaping hole the creature first crawled out of.

The massive break in the floor takes up almost the entire width of the hallway, even cracking into the walls a little bit. Below, all you can see are broken pipes, wires, darkness. You're not sure how far down it goes, or where it leads to. The hole is too big to comfortably jump over, and the ground at its edges looks unstable.

Michelle grabs you.

By the time you realize what she's doing--by the time you think to make her stop--it's too late.

Michelle throws you to the other side of the pit. You hit the concrete floor hard, but you land right next to the stairwell.

You stumble back to your feet. The monster has moved out into the hallway. Michelle fires her shotgun high then ducks low to evade the incoming gunfire, drawing the creature's attention away from you.

"Go!," she yells. "I'll meet you upstairs!"

How does she plan to get out of there?! If I'm understanding the layout correctly, WE'RE AT THE ONLY ENTRANCE TO THE STAIRWELL! The other side goes to a BROKEN ELEVATOR! The only other way, is if she took a running start and leapt across the breach, but to do that she'd need to take care of that damn thing first.

Uh, random ideas from me.

a) Trust Michelle to keep herself alive for the time-being and rush back to the car. Grab the jumper cables, bleed into them on the way down and then hurl it at the bio-mech in order to tangle that thing up to distract it long enough so Michelle can get her running start (or blast it with her shotgun to oblivion, either works).

b) Syringe it over and over until we get enough blood in it. Might make us light-headed, might take forever, but if we keep at it, it would eventually work. Just... you know, at some... expense.

c) Scream and flail wildly to distract it back towards us, and make it fall back into the hole it made. Foolproof plan.

Any other ideas I'm open to :'D

oh god but he knows the hole is there he has to, he made it! what if it doesn't work? what if he thinks that making us watch him kill michelle is more rewarding than trying to kill us? he might just go for her anyways! he's a sick sadistic fuck! but if we don't try then what? it's the only thing we can do we have to try, he might see us as the more enticing target but he might not ahhhhhhhhhhh MY KINDGOM FOR A TAZER OR ELECTRICITY POWERS OR SOMETHING.
rufiangel 22nd Sep 2017, 7:53 PM edit delete reply
I was totally joking but XD

But you know, about the electricity thing... actually, blood does generate electric impulses.

I'd actually wondered this before but wasn't really able to find a way to test it. Maybe if it's actually possible, now is a time to see if we can mess with the electric impulses with the blood we injected. It's how Carpenter is controlling it, after all. Could we actually try?

i'm thinking michelle's plan might be to scale the cables in the elevator shaft but this thing could shoot up after her and turn her into swiss cheese pretty handily...

i don't know if we could short it out with our blood? can we even move the blood that's inside it? ahhhhhh ;_______; MICHELLE WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO GOOD PLEASE DON'T GET ANY MORE HURT I'LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU IF YOU DIE
rufiangel 22nd Sep 2017, 8:04 PM edit delete reply
@Mochi: I don't know if Michelle has cables to scale up if we cut them, unless we actually left a stray one or two behind, though like you said it doesn't exactly give her much room for defensive manoeuvres against guns in that position :'D
Akasha 22nd Sep 2017, 7:59 PM edit delete reply
Okay, wait. Was the elevator actually broken? I thought it was less that and more that it was just a bad idea to use it at the time.
rufiangel 22nd Sep 2017, 8:01 PM edit delete reply
@Akasha: The elevator was hacked, so in order to stop bio-printed monstrosities from getting shipped up and down the floors, we sabotaged the elevator on purpose by cutting the cables.

EDIT: Mochi and I are on this XD
Mochi 22nd Sep 2017, 8:02 PM edit delete reply
no we broke the elevator. we rendered it nonfunctional to keep any more biomonsters from getting shipped to the upper floors of the hospital.

Wait, couldn't we get Michelle to directly shoot the arm with the blade and then the arm with the gun and possibly have her jump on top of the beast and use it as a ramp to get across the hole

Alright, naptime's over... what do we got here?

If Michelle has to climb the elevator, getting a shot at the gun arm could weaken its accuracy enough to allow safe(er) passage up the elevator. Or the legs to slow it further, so we can plan more.

Scaling a wall with a cable in hand should be easy for her to do.

If we need to get something small to Michelle, I think the Raven could be a courier.

We need to get to the top of that elevator if possible and see if we can get a rope down.

Oh some chemicals from the cleaning closet. We could dump some bleach into it's wounds from above if we can get to the door....
rufiangel 22nd Sep 2017, 8:57 PM edit delete reply
Where would we get rope though on such short notice? The closest thing I could think of was the jumper cables but that's not going to be anywhere near long enough. That's why I came up with that idea to entangle it. :'D
Baeronius 22nd Sep 2017, 9:28 PM edit delete reply
Well... in any hospital regardless of the quality, you usually have two rooms.
1. a cleaning closet
2. maintenance closet

The maintenance closet usually has a lot of rope, as tying something down or securing something is actually needed when cleaning certain things. Or even a foldable ladder. It's not uncommon to have rope so that you can make a pulley for a paint bucket or some other cleaning supplies.
So at the very least, we'd have a tall ladder that could get you up a floor, and a rope that could be dropped 2 floors. Combined together and you have an escape route.
Mochi 22nd Sep 2017, 9:36 PM edit delete reply
baer you do realize that this is the same hospital we cleaned out in the first chapter right

there's nothing left here. we took everything we could find. the maintenance closet was trashed by the door ripper.
Baeronius 22nd Sep 2017, 9:45 PM edit delete reply
Yes, but there was NOTHING that a hospital would really use in there.
Either there is a door we missed, or this place was operating without sterilization or cleaning supplies...or maintenance or repair... or general linen storage.

I mean, where's the gear-room to repair the elevator?

Now that I think about it... it's kind of odd that we only use doors that are.. "north" facing. The only south facing door we've seen is the hospital entrance I think.

There could be doors on the other wall, but then again, mayhaps this universe doesn't have double-sided hallways. O>O;;;
(so another brain-memory-pan kerflop? or a chance to explore the foriegn element of the unknown wall?! Probably a kerflop)
rufiangel 22nd Sep 2017, 9:55 PM edit delete reply
I don't think you're necessarily wrong, I mean, it's true we skipped a bunch of floors when we were in the hospital before. But I'm talking about 'short-notice'. If we had a lot of time to look around and explore the hospital and try and see if those things might be somewhere we haven't seen before (which would mostly be above the 1st floor, so 2nd~5th + Rooftop) that's a lot of ground to cover, and I don't think we have that leisure.
Baeronius 22nd Sep 2017, 9:59 PM edit delete reply
I guess we could see if one of the fallen counters or collapsible tables could be used as a bridge over the gap. But we'd have to operate fast.

Or we could have one of the Ravens cause an audio distraction, as Carpenter seems to be piloting by sound more than sight.

DOH! I forgot Ravens can imitate human speech!

If you blow out the lights in the hallway, and have the raven immitate talking from the top of the elevator shaft, mayhaps we can get it to wander past Michelle and start climbing without us?

Like if he thinks the raven is Michelle climbing the elevator shaft, he might go up so we can put a table across the gap and get Michelle out of the basement?

try and find a ladder and make a makeshift bridge or something?
AlphaDragon 22nd Sep 2017, 8:41 PM edit delete reply
So... Our blood can do some amazing stuff, and mimic lots of things. Any chance we can channel fuses Pyro ability?
rufiangel 22nd Sep 2017, 8:55 PM edit delete reply
I'm afraid we cannot imitate Fuse's pyrokinesis without risking brain damage. You can look at 'Fuse's Pyrokinesis' under 'Skills' in the Fan Page to get a better idea of this with all the relevant links where our Red talks about this.

EDIT: Orrr I might have put all the links under 'Psychic Mutations' in Plottery. XD;

Michelle, you heroic bonehead, this had better not be what it looks like!
Crestlinger 22nd Sep 2017, 9:35 PM edit delete reply
Throw something to distract it so she can get a clean kill shot or two in, then book it, once at a safer location sync Caius's training to her and mimic in some painkillers.

Dammit, Michelle! We did not stress so much about a way to extend your lifespan for you to go and pull this shit!

Okay, can we use the blood we put in our handgun to call it out of the room, maybe to us? Yell at robojerk and try to float the gun out here to shoot him? Michelle's a pretty damn good shot, but she has a shotgun, right? It might be good to duck into the exit, at least, so she can shoot without hitting us.

Oh, probably don't shout randomly? Yell something like how Michelle better make sure she gets away WTIH you. It pulls double duty of informing Michelle that she had BETTER not pull some heroic sacrifice shit, and hopefully will make Carpenter turn around to try and stop you from escaping.

...hey, he isn't dumb but he's also kind of psycho. Do you figure he can see the hole he made? Does he remember exactly where it is? Maybe we can trick him into falling into it.

I can't help but feel like the wires in the wall could be useful somehow, for frying this thing.
