You ask Red if you might be able to take the exertion you experience during finer blood control, and split the strain across multiple people.

"It should be possible," Red says. "You would need to be synced with them, of course."

"A bit like parallel processing," adds Fuse. "Using several computers to deal with one task. Might be risky if it's to deal with that testing machine again, though--that was like, what, almost two hours last time? That's a lot of syncing."

You also ask about hiding your blood from such a test.

"That's... going to be more difficult," Red says. "If it were anyone else, it wouldn't be as taxing--most of your allies only have a needle's worth of your blood in them. Dr. Finch received a major transfusion from you. Your blood makes up a significant portion of his system. That's not easy to obscure, not without effort."

You otherwise just spend a while making idle chat with Fuse. You attempt to get your red in on it, but she seems ill prepared for casual conversation. You also put more focus into making sure Fuse's immune system and airways are working efficiently.

You also peek in on Caius and Michelle. You see them just as they're starting to unhook and haul off your computer. You send them a quick note to consider picking up another rat or two, if they can find a pet store open this late.

"We'll keep an eye out," Michelle says with a light chuckle, "but I dunno how many pet stores would wanna stay open after sunset."

Aha, so it is possible! Alright, good to know there's that option, though with all the usual risks that come with syncing.

Aw, Red. XD

MM sure is letting us have ample time to get to know Fuse XD Is now a good time to kinda ask Fuse about his personal life? >_>?

BTW sitting Jane sprite is so cute XD

.... BYYYY the way. This is so totally nothing plot progressive but. Like. We burnt a bunch of sheets and blankets yeah? So... Either we go down and ask reception for more and apologise and compensate for the ones we turned crispy and wet. Or... We be naughty and sneak new ones in from another room (using our resident lockpicker) while waiting for Michelle and Caius to get back XD; tiny misadventure time maybe??
Zeddy 21st Sep 2017, 1:59 AM edit delete reply
These shenanigans can't possibly backfire!

We do really want to avoid explaining burnt, bloody sheets to the hotel staff.
rufiangel 21st Sep 2017, 2:23 AM edit delete reply

I mean, I suppose we could learn how to lock pick from Fuse while we're at it. I'm guessing that casual B&E is so old hat to Fuse, this probably won't faze him at all. XD;
Baeronius 21st Sep 2017, 2:29 AM edit delete reply
I could imagine this turning into an entire episode by itself.
Such as... the only room with sheets of the same size is upstairs at the end of a hallway.
Having to sneak the sheets past the hotel staff, crawling through vents and timing the passage past cameras to reach the unocupied room, drop the bad sheets down, and pick up the good sheets... Only to have to backtrack, but this time, there would be cleaning trolleys and other such items in the way, or a substitute camera placed up cause one went under maintenance...

Hoo boooooy. That'd sure be the shenaneganigan.

If MM actually indulges us in this, I was kind of expecting it to happen in one sentence or two -v- (and that's only if lol)

I also came up with the worst pun

Fuse: Well. *holds it up* Holey sheet.

i don't think we need to come up with an elaborate heist to get more blankets, we have four people staying in one hotel room. just call the front desk and ask for more.

Did we decide if Red looks like that, or did she? I mean, if so, she's... pretty literal with this whole 'our Red' thing.

When is Michelle's birthday anyway? Cause Tamagotchi would be the perfect present. Or an animal that isn't full of our blood.

I don't have anything constructive to say here.
PurpleKetchup 21st Sep 2017, 12:14 AM edit delete reply
Red's appearance comes from Jane's internal visualisation of her.
She associated her alien side awakening with her waking up in the hospital, so bloody bandages, nurse outfit and bed hair it is. She accepted herself as the odd creature she is, so they have the same 'body'. Her hair colour probably stuck after learning who she is from her mom's red.

Maybe Jane can ask if Red wants to change clothes or fix her hairdo and so on, but I think the answer would be "you know I don't actually look like that, right?".
Skybirds15 21st Sep 2017, 2:12 AM edit delete reply
Yes, but our Red chooses when and where to 'appear' physically. Also, before we found out he had a red, she looked like Mom's Red, which... isn't how I'd think she'd visualize a weird voice inside her head.

Anyway, if we're going to end up hive minding eventually, because what realistic other choice do we have, Red needs to get better at this talking to other people thing.
Guest 21st Sep 2017, 9:45 AM edit delete reply
Skybirds, Red is not appearing physically like you said, she stated a few pages ago she's still "just the other voice in your head" or something along those lines. She also moved her hand through the bed, as well as Michelle having run right through her. The way Red looked in the first couple of syncs was back when Blondie didn't know what it was and hadn't communicated with it properly; I don't think it was a voice then, just the creepy-looking place (no offense, Red >w<) she went to during a sync.
Skybirds15 21st Sep 2017, 10:08 AM edit delete reply
But there was a mouth there, and words that weren't our own entered our head. So, there was something akin to a voice then.

There's a reason why I put appear in quotes, because she's always there, but she can also choose to become visible to our (and Fuse's) eyes.
Guest 21st Sep 2017, 12:46 PM edit delete reply
I believe it was stated earlier that Blondie's red's original appearance was an attempt to scare Blondie (too lazy to re-read dozens of pages to find that bit again for a quote XD) and/or a ... less friendly way of trying to get her to "stretch thin", so at that time, it was just what Red decided to look like. Yes, there were words not belonging to Blondie during the red part of syncs, but those were more thoughts felt in the red than a clear voice which might happen to be accompanied by the appearance of Red, or as was my interpretation, at least -- if all that makes sense. There was nothing for Blondie to have to visualise back then.

As for how her red is right now, I do rather agree with PurpleKetchup.

Whoop nice! I say let's make sure to take note of any street "camera s" that may spot C and M. Just in case ms.Agent tries to toss us a curve ball(we're already sure no one is around so let's check for ways they can check with out being there),then adjust the story accordingly.

Okay my paranoia aside, the sun has long since set so the ravens would have limited vision, many of our plans were set-back because of that machine they used on Finch. Once the lovable-tube-cop and streetsmart-bodyguard come back,we should setup the computer then go to bed with one of our animals on guard. Then make with the plans around...nine-ish in the morning.

Don't forget to practice meditation! We need our daily meditation session.

Yes, I'm gonna keep harping on this :P cuz it's important for developing Jane's abilities
Baeronius 21st Sep 2017, 1:55 AM edit delete reply
Well... Meditation is a... subjective matter. Like hypnotism, you have to believe it will work, for it to work. But as to what it really works? That is usually up to a person's imagination. As often as does not, the results of meditation may actually be the things around the meditation, and have nothing to do with meditating itself.

For example... if you believe that meditiation made you more at peace, then you will act as if it did. This is called a Placebo. But because you act like you are more at peace, your body responds as your belief does, hence lowering your stress. The meditation did nothing to relive the stress in this case, rather it was the belief that the meditation must have done something, that did something.

But as this is all perspective, Meditation can also perform the exact Opposite effect. If you were an active person who likes to move and see the world by walking around. Sitting in one place taking various poses would be incredibly stressful. You'd feel caged and inactive, which would make you feel like you weren't using your time well, which would then cause your stress to increase. Hence you would then know, as the other person knows in the opposite way, that the meditation is a stress increaser.

There are even some people who attain higher levels of self-calm than many meditation dabblers by playing video games. Technically in this case, the video game is meditation.
Ah, but calm may not be the intent nor focus of the meditation you suggested, so what mayhaps its purpose be?
Skybirds15 21st Sep 2017, 2:17 AM edit delete reply
If by meditation, you mean figuring out how to control our blood abilities better, then yeah, that's a good use of our time. But otherwise, sitting there doing... not much isn't really going to help anyone.
WalkerOfSorrow 21st Sep 2017, 7:39 AM edit delete reply
Actually, I'm going to harp on it too, Kitty. Consider yourself signal-boosted.

The subjectivity of meditation goes out the window when Fuse can control fire with his mind, Prophet can put spider in Michelle's, and oh...I don't know, the fact we've been inside entire urban sprawls locked up in someone's noggin. More than once. Did I mention our main character is Nyarlathotep's cousin? Because DANG.

If MM flat out states things like meditation and crystals are BS or subjective, then I'll drop it. But I think this level of "realism" is entirely unwarranted in a setting where we imploded a ventilation duct with our blood.

You do and don't have a point on the third paragraph, Baeronius. The type of meditation most people think of might have the opposite effect. I know someone who struggles with it for the exact reason you just said. But there are other ways: martial katas, qigong, and tai chi being just a few. All of which involve movement and/or going places. And some people find parkour or freerunning meditative.
Skybirds15 21st Sep 2017, 10:13 AM edit delete reply
So... meditation is subjective then, if there's all these ways to enter a meditative state?

Nyarlathotep would be insulted by your comparison. Control over multiple bodies she may have, but Jane still only has one mind directly controlling one body. Also she isn't constantly complicating things for kicks.

Hmm. Mom's Red said it can fold itself up. Since it's a spaceship, it presumably has some means of propulsion. Therefore, if we ever need to escape from the city, or just go to another one, we are covered. And then we stick the ship in our pocket.

We could figure out how to externalize our red into a phone-sized thing right now, then adapt it to the situation. Maybe.

Is it bad of me to want to ship Michelle and Jane but also want to ship Fuse and Jane?

I mean

Please tell me I'm not alone in this one

There's always OT3s :P

I do second this, though.

Well she could work on slowly reducing the Blood in Finch's system to a smaller enough level so that it gets replaced by his own.
Reducing could be done be done via the natural pathways normal blood takes once it's used up.
Zeddy 21st Sep 2017, 8:13 AM edit delete reply
I'm currently envisioning Dr. Finch crying blood in front of a pair of very scared federal scientists.
PurpleKetchup 21st Sep 2017, 1:43 PM edit delete reply
Wouldn't it be easier to just make it... not blood anymore ? Red can mimic drugs and blood cells. Surely it can mimic other things.
Like nerve tissue, adipocytes, muscles or bone.

No more moving around. No more extracirculatory-based detection.
Cuttlefish 21st Sep 2017, 8:43 AM edit delete reply
Did Finch destroy the other blood samples in his lab? He attempted to inject the agent before he collapsed in page 343. Presumably he had more... and then the federal biohazard team came. Can Jane try feel out if the samples still exist or not?
PurpleKetchup 21st Sep 2017, 12:39 PM edit delete reply
In #403 Jane failed to 'connect' to her syringed-blood. To quote, "it may have been shattered, its contents removed or dispersed somehow". We didn't ask about the others, but it's impossible for this one to have gone "missing" on its own.

This is why we're a bit split over what to do with miss Fed. It seems she dealt with every sample of Jane's blood at Finch's place (aside from Dr. Finch himself) for some reason.
We don't know her reasons because Finch never admitted his connection to Jane, so she might be protecting him from her, or Jane from federal dissection.

We're back at the current crux. We can't keep hiding everything, because two playing this game causes a complete block. Meanwhile, very real enemies are plotting Jane's bloody murder.
