What... is happening, you ask. Is Red physically here?

"No," Red says, waving her hand through the edge of the bed. "I am not made of meat. I'm still just the second voice in your head."

"Well, you're in my head, too," Fuse interjects.

"If I had to guess... it's two things." Red considers for a moment how to phrase it. "One, you're seeing me without fully retreating into your own mind, which means we're becoming more cohesive. Two..." Red waves a hand at Fuse. "The total length of time you've stayed synced with him has started reaching weird levels. Remember the card game? This is like the card game, but on a way bigger scale."

Like the card game, but way bigger. You point out that Red's vernacular is a little more... uhh, relaxed than usual.

"Yes, it probably is. Our minds are amalgamating. Remember, you and Fuse were synced the whole time you were in Macland's mind, even if the nature of the mindscape prevented you from feeling that way. If you push this too much further you're going to start adopting each other's mannerisms, thought processes, tendencies..."

"And seeing her imaginary friend?," Fuse adds.

"I am not imaginary," Red huffs, "I'm the non-human side of her mind. I'm just as real as she is, I'm just--"

"--not made of meat. Got it," Fuse concludes.

"The point is," Red continues, "this is quickly becoming dangerous. Syncing to this extent means one--or both of you--are going to be at risk of losing yourselves before too long."

"We're turning into a hivemind," Fuse sums up, turning a look back to you. "You'll get bitter and start wanting to wear a visor, and I'll... I dunno, I'll like pink more. Eventually we'll be like the same person in two different bodies."

k, lesson learned. No more group forced syncs.

On a side note, guess we should check on Macky and Finch
rufiangel 16th Sep 2017, 4:37 AM edit delete reply
On that note, could we set a blood alarm on Dr. Finch so we are alerted when he wakes up? It would be good to just let him know that we're thinking of him and are formulating plans to get him out of there.

Well, dang. Fuse, you joker XD I love that he can still make silly jokes even after all of this. Maybe it's *because* he's been through so much he can crack jokes like that. Gotta love the guy. <3 (But Fuse, please, sit down. You are very badly burned. >_>)

In any case! We probably shouldn't sync with our pals unless absolutely necessary, going forward. ;;

But it's kind of nice that Red can chat with Fuse now. 'Imaginary friend' XD

god, fuse, don't ever change. you've known red for all of about five minutes and you're already ribbing her. and... yeah, we need to ease off on the syncing for a while, i think. if we need to sync with fuse, we need to keep it short. we don't want to lose him, or ourselves. we want to keep him his bitter, visor-wearing self. although, he might be able to pull off pink...

also, i really do like that they can get to know each other now, even if this is a dangerous side effect of syncing. it's nice. they can be friends! red should hang out for a bit while we tend to fuse as best we can without the supplies michelle and caius are grabbing.

We should ask Red if this...side effect will back off some if we refrain from syncing with Fuse for awhile.

Can we do anything with Macland? Controlling the dead is hard, controlling the living relatively easy but less precise.

Macland is kind of inbetween...can we use him like an asshole-shaped robot? If we gave him orders would he obey them? Maybe even fake like he's "okay"?

If we can't use him...can we kill him? It's harsh, but if we could mimic that disease Finch had, maybe it'd eat away at his brain and make it hard for them to examine what made us get away.

...but only if we can mimic the disease without, say, accidentally making a spreading super alien plague.

i don't... really think we can cover for total brain death.
Varil1024 16th Sep 2017, 4:37 AM edit delete reply
I'm not so much worried about them knowing he's wrecked, I'm just worried they might be able to examine his brain in order to design a BETTER defense.
Mochi 16th Sep 2017, 5:08 AM edit delete reply
i mean, i'm honestly okay with never doing this again so hopefully it won't matter.
Varil1024 16th Sep 2017, 5:12 AM edit delete reply
Yeeeaaaahhh...not only did we nearly kill both us AND Fuse, but we learned very, very little. At best maybe we can glean the identity of that reporter that was being beaten in his memories, or use some other trivial detail we learned in some way?
Mochi 16th Sep 2017, 5:20 AM edit delete reply
we did get some pretty solid evidence that patton thale is TH which is what we wanted to find out, so
Kitty 16th Sep 2017, 1:39 PM edit delete reply
Now that he's gone full potato, we might even be able to get more info out of him just by looking, since he's not exactly in a state to resist us any more. It seems that his defense mechanism has *already* detonated, meaning that whatever is left, we can probably pick over at our leisure.

Aaaah! Soul-crushing answers! ♥

We could get a pink visor to irritate Fuse later on.
PurpleKetchup 16th Sep 2017, 4:50 AM edit delete reply
The blood, the blood !
Weedgoku 16th Sep 2017, 4:51 AM edit delete reply
We should ask Fuse for his visor now.

I think we should ask him for it again occasionally just for giggles as well. Just every 4 days or so- just long enough for him to forget it's a joke and then re-ignite it.

No pun intended, and no actually igniting of anything.
Auron 16th Sep 2017, 10:57 AM edit delete reply
Okay then. Fuse is just going to have to stick to lighting things on fire and not using the skills of the others for the next while.
PurpleKetchup 16th Sep 2017, 12:17 PM edit delete reply
No fire until he's better. Jane can try directly producing thin skin grafts compatible with his immune system, but that's fleshcrafting of a higher caliber than she's achieved so far.
