You check on your assorted animals.

Nothing unusual going on, at least not from their perspective.

You check on Dr. Finch. He is currently passed out, alone in the government surgery area. He is likely recovering from having his necrotic tissue replaced.

You check on Macland Row. His guard is shaking him, yelling, trying to get him to respond. Macland just stares at the ceiling, eyes open, jaw agape. His expression is blank. He's still alive, he's just... not there.

You carefully help Fuse out of the tub. You thank him for helping you, and you offer to try and heal him. He shakes his head. "I already got turned into a roach today, I'll just... get grafted when we don't have so many people trying to kill us." He shakes a little, having to prop himself up on the wall until he finds stable footing. He shoves his visor tighter to his face as he finally stands under his own power. "It's... not that bad." His voice cracks as he says it.

You ask Red if she's alright.

"Yeah," she says. Her tone is quiet, her answer very short, but you hear her perfectly fine.

omg Fuse ;_;

We should at least hit him with the blood-painkillers (not enough to dull the pain COMPLETELY because that might lead him to damage his tissues worse, and also he might resent that; but enough to make things easier on him) and also with some blood-simulated fluffy cat magazine feelings. He needs ALL the fluff and happiness.

Also, Red needs a hug too. I guess we can't really give her fluffy cat feelings, but we can offer to try. If nothing else, hug.

And another thing to think about-- we might need to learn how to enhance the immune system with our blood. With that much injury to his skin, Fuse is gonna be at a really bad risk of infection until it heals.

Oh! and a big thank you to Red as well. Forgot to mention that, to go along with the hug. Cuz she protected us a lot there too. Thanks for everyone.

...okay I think that's all I was gonna say, hopefully another idea won't pop up right after I hit "post" this time...

Red is exhausted after everything that happened, I'm sure - she was stretched to her limits just protecting everyone, trying to keep brains alive, etc.

But I think one of Red's worst predictions sort of came true: '[your friends are] going to have their skin ripped off by something out of their nightmares' was one example she gave.

It's probably something Jane remembers, too, since she cried a bit. :'D

We're still too weak to fully protect those around us, and it hurts. That's the thing that Red wanted to shed humanity for, to avoid that pain.

Just a thought, just a maybe.

... Hugs all around please. Yeah. ;v;

Yeah, and Red is probably suffering a lot from this experience too. She's not *used* to hurting. It's not something that such a powerful creature ever really gets accustomed to, and this is probably her first real experience getting hurt herself, as opposed to seeing pain through our eyes.

Also, Red is still very young in red terms-- she's only as old as us, after all, and that's not exactly old in eldritch horror terms. So she's young and hurting for the first time and no wonder she's being a bit short with us :C

jesus christ.

today could've… probably gone better… it might be best for fuse to stay cool until caius and michelle get back and we can deal with the burns properly. and we need to get him some clothes, obviously. god, i feel awful ;^; fuse… you poor thing, it's all our fault. i'm so sorry.

i just kind of feel awful in general about this entire update :'D even macland being a vegetable. like, from a moral standpoint, that's probably the best outcome we could have hoped for, but still.

Yeah T__T

This update does show quite a lot about Fuse's character, though. He takes an awful lot on himself and he's even thinking of Jane's feelings by telling her it's not that bad :'D man, Fuse.

Red seems... off. Maybe we should ask her what happened to her when we lost contact. And if we have any brain damage.

After that, WoW we need to make sure that doesn't get infected. Immune boosting probably's a good idea.

If we are just going to sit around a bit, though, we could work on the anti-aging thing.

Mindhug Red for saving Jane's brain from the lands of vegetables.
The feds actually used a bioprinter to fix Dr. Finch ? How generous of them.
Also, dammit Mackey. Sorry again.

All things considered, we didn't get much aside from a decent confirmation Patton Thale Jr. is TH, and Macland has weird hobbies and poor people skills.
Not exactly worth almost losing Fuse. He's in shock, btw. The painkillers are currently helping, but unless he's also got some regenerative mutant powers, he needs to go lie on a bed and stop exerting himself. Make him drink lots of fluids.

Next mission: nurse Fuse and extract Dr. Finch.
Contact feds on neutral grounds. They saved him, so they probably won't murder your human teammates.

I wonder, if Jane controlled a talking bird (they just mimic sounds, but you know what I mean), could she 'tell' it what to say ? Cause that would be pretty good for that.

I wouldn't say we didn't get much. We got some interesting information off the computers that could be of use if we extract it with cleantex, there's something that Macland was waiting for that would elevate him above the need to show a public face (which we kind of guessed, but this confirmed it) and the confirmation that it was Patton Thale is absolutely major. I don't want to say it was worth almost losing Fuse because obviously nothing is, but we needed that lead. Now we have it, and after extracting Dr. Finch, it will give us our next starting point.

Totally agree on nursing Fuse next as a focus. ;_;

I don't know about contacting "the Feds", though. We don't know that they saved Dr. Finch without the plan of doing other experiments on him after he's recovered enough to actually take it. I'm very iffy about what that agent lady was really about, after our speculations on Zone Fifty and Lasker.

I say we wait for Michelle and Caius's report before we think about contacting anyone, really. They might give us a better idea on what we're really up against.

Ah, Red seems to be physically OK, but she was there feeling this guy dying around her.
Mayhaps we need to... I dunno, how does one care for their Red? Does Red need a hug? I could imagine feeling that happen was incredibly traumatic.
Do we just send a feeling of courage and support down the emotion link? Does she need a shoulder to cry on, or is she just tired?
