You begin to establish a rudimentary communication system. Two clicks for yes, one click for no. You ask if Fuse understands.

He nods, and you realize he can just nod and/or shake his head.

He still seems to have trouble getting his arms to work... or figuring out which arm is which... or not having multiple arms trying things simultaneously. Also, no fingers. But it's a start.

You thank Fuse for helping you, and apologize for getting him into this. You explain about the trapped... memetic... thing upstairs, but that you've seen the exit. The two of you need to head up, and out.

You check the computer. There's not much functionality on it--it looks like a discarded computer from the upstairs office area. Macland knows the company needs better equipment, but he doesn't bother to improve or replace any of it.

Opened up on the screen is a text file.

"I'm typing this out just in case. My nosebleed just turned into a facebleed.

Feeling sick. Skin feels weird. If you find this, I might have died.

Face falling apart getting hardr to type hands wont move

everythbng hutrs

feels like insdes r tryin to climbbb ou t

ca nt soorry"

There's blood on the keyboard.

You contact Red to try and figure out what's going on. You have to strain to hear her, her voice sounds so far away.

"It's Macland's mind," your red says. "You have a strong anchoring point as the instigator of this intrusion, but Fuse is just along for the ride. His representation has been slowly changed to reflect how Macland sees him, not how he sees himself. If you stick around too long, the same might happen to you--though, Macland has seen you, and sort of knows who you are, so his subconscious version of you shouldn't be that different. He doesn't know anything about Fuse... so Fuse is just how Macland sees all the poor people in the lower tiers.

That might be why it's getting so hard for us to talk. I thought it was because I'm distracted with keeping Macland's brain together, but the distancing started before you met Carpenter's defense. We might be getting pushed apart because Macland doesn't know I exist."

You ask if the brain death is getting any better, or less intense.

"It's going better for you now that you have some distance from the source, but it's still there. Macland's brain is still trying to die pretty hard."

You check Fuse's toolkit. He does, in fact, have a small foldable saw that could be used to hack through decayed metal bars.

Seconded :'D omg that text file is so horrifying, I feel SO BAD for Fuse. Now I just want to give him a million more hugs. Sigh.

worse for the hacking pun? or for the bugifying?

Hack the system, hack the bars.
With a hacksaw. Oooh.

Shouldn't we check out these bars first?

i get the feeling the grate in here will connect to the grate at the start. there was a green-eyed roach watching us from it shortly after we got here and fuse is the only green-eyed one we've seen. so, theoretically, we could do both.

Bruh go back to those bars with fuse but watch out for the king rat thing lol
Dragon_ANGL 14th Sep 2017, 5:59 PM edit delete reply
Try to bundle up and carry all of Fuse's clothing too, in case somehow he changes back. ...I wonder if the king rat is supposed to be Tube Cops though, since it's also 'inhuman' yet powerful.

Determine if Fuse can communicate somewhat with those others that were here, having them help out might be useful if even one of them gets to the exit, Things may happen.

Well, Fuse with the four arms might be able to climb that pipe in the room we started in. hmm. Maybe since the whole lighting thing on fire bit is more art than science, we can just light everything around memetic brain death on fire. Or do it whilst panicked.

I'm still trying to figure out a way to get past the memetic defense, and Skybirds is probably onto something, like, just light it all up XD

In terms of getting past the logic hole, we know it takes advantage of how the place works by hiding in what Macland doesn't know. That seems to imply that Red, something that Macland doesn't know, can force it out of hiding.

I don't know if we can logic error it by basically doing multiple things at the same time that it can't negate simultaneously (i.e. one person gets past it going left, versus one person gets past it going right; one person thinks they'll say something, one person thinks they won't say anything, etc.) or by operating continually in the 'unknown' since the statement made by the creature is 'I will make unknown all the things you try to make known' (so... 'stretching thin' is a thing that could completely confound it, possibly ;;; or just barrel through it with THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP because Macland doesn't have any real friends, right, oh geez if only that would work). And back to Skybirds' suggestion, technically Macland wouldn't know much about Fuse being able to light it up so that could potentially work wonders? XD;

EDIT: Btw the whole thing about Fuse nodding or shaking his head just cracked me right up, thanks for making us feel like dorks MM XD

FINALLY!! After, like 5 days I caught up. Super comic, by the way.

P.S. For whoever edits wiki: "THE ABILITY TO PHYSICALLY MANIPULATE AN INANIMATE OBJECT THAT HAS OUR BLOOD INSIDE OF IT" most probably cn be called a variation of hemokinesis (ability to manipulate blood).
Mochi 14th Sep 2017, 8:03 PM edit delete reply
i feel like "hemokinesis" implies a larger level of control over blood than we actually have, since our control is incredibly specific and limited specifically to our blood inside things.

Establish if Fuse can communicate with the other insects down here. Facepalm on the nodding thing.

An idea: Try to pump some of the 'sewage' upstairs, once we get there. That might cause interesting effects eventually.
Also, uh, work on getting back upstairs. Can Fuse do normal cockroach things like climb walls and/or fly? I'm guessing no, with the whole 'not used to this sort of body' thing.
Try focusing REALLY HARD on making Fuse be Fuse again.
