You try to check on your red.

"It... it's trying to kill us,"

she says, her voice distant and frail.

"I'm trying to keep our brains together, but that thing is shutting it all down."

You ask about the properties of Nothing--about the fact that the creature... was, and wasn't, and you could affect it until you couldn't.

"It's taking advantage of how this place works. You don't... do anything, you imagine yourself doing things in a representation of the mind. That thing is a logical hole, hiding in what Macland doesn't know. It contaminates knowledge with... un-knowledge. It's going to leave us all brain dead. When you tried to attack it, it saw what you were thinking of doing and stopped it from manifesting. It broke the signal. I don't know how long I can hold this off--it's only affecting your brain a little bit right now, but if Macland's brain shuts down with you in it you'll be trapped."

You hear something from beyond the Hell door, like a screeching digital noise.

Oh, red. Thank you for doing your best to keep us alive and sane in this horrible, horrible place. Stay strong, for a bit longer. We'll get out of here in one piece - we'll figure this damn thing out. (Uh, let's all think on that first though. LOL)

And hey, screeching digital noises. Let's go check out what's happening in Hell.

Seconded. Let's get in there and face whatever is going on. We needed to check on the computers.

Oh no, what happened to Fuse? Did he become brain dead?

*funeral shots*

Well, I guess the porn is ready. I can only imagine what it did to the harddrive.

Alright, so we know our enemy now, and we know how this place works.

In order to defeat the logic hole, we need to root it out of the space where Macland doesn't know.
To do that, we must imagine ourselves doing something.
Whatever we imagine ourselves doing, the logic hole will likely predict it and cause that action to not occur.

What can we do that, by the logic hole negating it, would cause us to gain the advantage?

It's fairly certain that this thing has some degree of sentience, and wouldn't negate things that it knew would hurt it.

So. Seems we're screwed here. Ask Red how to GTFO and bail with Fuse. If that doesn't work, try doing... the opposite? of a brain dive.

Nothing seems to either be the memetic defense or perhaps the drug. After all, the guy does sleep a lot, and the drug might not be completely eradicated from systems when they get hit with The Blood.

I just belatedly realised what Red is saying, and what the melting statue means. I... I think Macland is going to be braindead as a result of the defense mechanism triggering. That would explain why this project was initially shut down. Macland may not have known the consequences of that defense mechanism.

We need to find a way to inform Macland that Carpenter has screwed him, and get his rage and willpower working against this. If he can fight it, we might be able to help him.

I think it's a little late for that, unfortunately :'D we've already established in Michelle's force-sync that we a) cannot contact who we're in the mind of and b) cannot change anything about what the person is thinking while we're in there - it can only be done in person. In other words, we can't produce a new thought in the person's mind.
