Dr. Finch tosses a smoke bomb as soon as it's ready, the canister landing on the counter in front of the door. Though those within the smoke can hardly see out, Dr. Finch and the agent can see their silhouettes well enough. The first guy through the door takes a bullet to the head before he can climb all the way through.

The second goon doesn't take his time, diving straight through the door and rolling off the counter as Dr. Finch and the agent unload at him. As the man finds his footing, Finch and the agent move forward, using the counter for cover. There's a gunfight, but a short one--your side is too quick at taking cover, the smoke veil is too thick, and the enemy is too large of a target. The invading man takes a couple of bullets to the chest but fights through them, until Dr. Finch puts a shot between his eyes. The man drops.

Dr. Finch was grazed by a couple of rounds, but none of them really connected. He's scared half to death, but not hurt. He lowers his gun, his hands shaking.

"I counted three," the agent says. "There should be one more in there somewhere."

"Oh. Y-yes, of course," Dr. Finch replies, nervously shoving his glasses back up his face.

You update everyone on the situation. You also ask Michelle, incidentally, if she picked up anything from you during the sync.

"Cats," she says. "Somethin' about cats. Y'know how dreams are, right? Like, I didn't have a lotta control 'til I realized I was dreamin', and by then it was almost too late to grab anything."

You have the raven near Dr. Finch's house look at the cars parked outside. There is, indeed, one large vehicle parked directly in front of Finch's--you get the license plate number for future reference. There appears to be a man in the driver's seat.

You also tune back in on Macland. He continues to argue with Shirai, refusing to tell her the details of his plan--now for fear that she'll screw them up by being reckless. You force him to hang the phone up.

Macland yells, throwing his phone across the hotel room.

Wing Eye
Relay to Dr. Finch that the last guy is still in the car.
Kitty 5th Sep 2017, 7:50 PM edit delete reply
Except there were FIVE guys, according to Macland. Killed three, which means there's one still in the house, and Agent Fed's estimation is correct. We should probably let Finch know this.
Kitty 5th Sep 2017, 7:52 PM edit delete reply
Wait, no, we killed TWO, sorry. So there's one that Agent Fed saw, and one more probably.

Unless Macland was just using "five" as an example, but it seemed oddly specific. We should let Finch know to be on his guard, in any case.

I am... I am so happy about Dr. Finch deploying the smoke bomb so adequately and displaying all the gun skills, I know he's scared half to death but he's doing so admirably and he deserves spots of badassery once in a while XD <333 So. Happy.

Macland said five guys were sent over. If there's two dead in the lab, one in the driver's seat, one more the Fed lady saw, then that's one unaccounted for. Tell Dr. Finch to watch out for more than just one more goon.

The last couple goons may not use the same entrance, nor try anything while the smoke screen is up. Be on your guard, Dr. Finch!

Maybe that raven could discreetly follow that vehicle back, if we don't get back in time to stop it.

i get the feeling five might've been an arbitrary number. she actually sent more like... eight or nine, if we count the dudes whose car we wrecked. still, might be good to warn him there may be more than three regardless.

Ah, re-reading what Macland said, I see what you mean. -v- While it won't hurt to keep our eyes peeled, I guess we don't necessarily have to expect an extra dude popping out of nowhere! Whew.

good job, finch. good job. we'll be there soon. warn him about the man in the car, so he knows that there are four -- not just the three inside. don't advance. we have a good foothold where you are -- stay put. let him come to us. alternatively, we could advance, and try to take him out before he gets the possible chance to call for backup, but that involves risking finch and the agent's safety. perhaps ask her what to do, since she might have more experience with this kind of thing.

also, i love that macland is freaking the fuck out. pass that info along to the group, i'm sure caius might get a kick out of it.

Yeah, I think Caius would XD

Unless five was the total number sent, in which case the other two were dealt with in the car chase.

WAHAHA the magazine read near the start! Well placed!

Which makes me wonder:
Would it be possible to de-stress our team by us reading a cat magazine while they're in combat?

Kind of like a soothing aura that would increase focus and decrease combat jitters?
Kitty 5th Sep 2017, 9:25 PM edit delete reply
If we can simulate the effects of drugs like caffeine and level, we should theoretically be able to simulate the effects of looking at cat pictures, too.

What Michelle said implies that the faster we get through a forced sync, the less our enemy is likely to get from us. This might mean that multiple short syncs over the course of a few nights might be smarter than one long sync, if we have that kind of time(which we may not, but it's worth considering).

We should still be efficient about it though, since after a couple syncs they might subconsciously learn to watch for it and be faster to react in their dreams.

Yes, lets inform Finch that there is at least one more guy still outside in the car, and that Macland implied there may be even more.

Also tell him he's doing a great job.

Does Finch have a couple of syringes with our blood in it so we can help more than with just boosting his skills.
Mochi 5th Sep 2017, 10:44 PM edit delete reply
probably not the best idea to be blooding people in front of the fed lady juuuuust yet.

Loot the weaponry, at least two guns and one machete there. As a follow up for Mackers, (if able) suggest him ravenously hungry for pizza such that his only goal in life right now is to order and devour Lots of it, then sleep him. That Should give tame footing for trying to force a sync.
