Uncertain about tampering with whatever is rigged to the vent cover, you and Fuse head back to where the ventilation shaft branched off. You begin to climb up the vent, toward the roof.

About three fourths of the way up the vent, the vent begins to shake a little. You hear a loud sound begin to build, like a fan turning on.

can we see a fan if we look up? if so, that's another dead end... we'll have to go back to the hallway and figure something out. if we don't see a fan... the fuck is that noise???

I'm going to hazard a guess and says its them filling the vent with gas. A quick but careful descent is recommended

and holding our breath is recommended

I don't suppose that's a helicopter getting revved up? Just spitballing mind ya.
Mochi 25th Aug 2017, 9:20 PM edit delete reply
helicopter wouldn't be able to get in or out of the shield bubble unless they disabled it, which i doubt they're going to do while we're still loose in their warehouse.

3/4ths of the way up sounds like we're nearly there. If they're really filling this vent with gas, then I would guess they're doing it from the side with the tubes. In which case the roof would be most sensible to pop out of, because fresh air. (Well, as fresh as it gets in the Lower Tiers.)

But if the fan is above us, then we probably need to drop and hustle back out the way we came. Unless we can figure out a way to throw a (literal?) wrench in it.

yeah, if they are filling it with gas then up is better than down. i dunno about a wrench, but we do have a length of pipe! we'd still probably have to like, physically remove the fan to get past it, though.

We *did* seal up a vent with our blood once before, we could do it again, I guess. Like if the fan was really above our heads and the gas was coming up from underneath us, we could bleed into the vent and seal it from below, and throw the pipe up into the fan to stop it so it doesn't, uh, whirr us to death or something. XD; (EDIT: I suppose that might trap us though now that I think about it LOL, stupid fan, where is it XDD)

that's true, i forgot we pancaked a monster inside a vent in chapter 1. i wonder if we could squish the vent to pop out the fan, then open it again? might make a lot of noise though.

...Going to go with a paranoid and Horror option: That fan might be a suction-type, one that'll pull our intrepid heros into the rotating blades for a grisly end. If the vent takes corners, carefully peek around each corner to check - also! Can we breathe through the blood soaked bandages somehow, as a makeshift mask. And if we can, can the blood act as a filter to counter gaseous attacks?
