You send a quick message to Dr. Finch to look into the names Carpenter and Shirai--to try and figure out their connections to any of the TH candidates, and cross reference them with the Elegance list.

You have your guard ask about the people Prophet mentioned--why he wants to harm them, in particular.

"Because..." He inhales sharply, sputtering. "They are among the worst... of the worst... of this city. I need... power... to even things out. They have power... already... but still they want more. They're greedy... and wicked... all."

You have the guard state that--just as you're not the devil--Enyo isn't quite the goddess Prophet thinks it is. You and Enyo both are just regular people with extraordinary power, and you can match or surpass anything Enyo does with no divine intervention.

"I was told... that you'd say that. The devil will masquerade... as man. Deceivers... false prophets... they will try to claim the goddess is mortal. These are... a part of the prophecy. You have died, and returned. You are... not... human. I have seen... your bloody tendrils, your bladed limbs. You are... not... human."

You want to ask Fuse how he's doing, and why he's angry... however. There's only two ways for him to respond to you, presently, since he left his phone in the car: he can reply out loud, or he can reply telepathically, if you choose to sync with him. Replying out loud may be dangerous while he's still in the presence of the man in the clown mask. Syncing may be dangerous if Fuse fights it.

Not being human doesn't equate to being the devil, but that's what the devil would say, obviously.

Jane can still keep going. Admit her (partial) inhumanity and point out it is unrelated to anything spiritual. Also that she's only looking to help people instead of doing horrible transdimensional things to their reality.

Fuse wouldn't like syncing right now. Join him in the vents ?

See, this is what I thought would happen if we weren't careful. Rather than play into his religion, we've tried to undermine it and he has no reason to believe us.

Admitting we're not human is good, but phrasing it as a question is better. Does having non-human blood in you make one the devil? Because both we and the Prophet have different strains of non-human blood in us. We can confront him with the question: are we both the devil, or are neither of us the devil?

We should probably avoid mentioning "horrible transdimensional things" and joining angry pyro in a confined space.

Time to invite the prophet and nimrod to her house for Dinner. Cunningly though this guy has proven quite crafty. If you desire such power come meet me at my home when able, bring however many people you would need to feel safe.

Do we really want to tell Enyo/TH where our house is? That hardly sounds advisable. But arranging a neutral place to meet could work.

Enyo actually could be practically immortal. If control works by having more fo the fake blood than anyone else they could have a number of potential successors planned in the event that something happens to the current head honcho.

i second going to join fuse in the vents. michelle's not going to like it but i don't think it's a good idea to leave him alone in there. plus, we'd have more options for dealing with clown. it might get kind of hard to concentrate on keeping prophet busy though. explain to him that your bloody tendrils are bandages and your bladed limbs are just scalpels. try and break the illusion.
WalkerOfSorrow 22nd Aug 2017, 4:40 PM edit delete reply
Rather than flood the conversation with unnecessary information, we could just say that our blood lets us move objects it gets on, and both of those are just such objects.

The prophet's referring to that one incident with the blood from Mars...
Mochi 22nd Aug 2017, 4:51 PM edit delete reply
i get the feeling he means the hospital incident, which, if you recall, was livestreamed by the hacker and viewed by a number of people. he says specifically your bloody tendrils. he's convinced jane specifically isn't human.
Macheman7 22nd Aug 2017, 6:00 PM edit delete reply
Oh my god I just realized something.
He isn't talking about Jane.
He's talking about the Lasker thing, I think.
He doesn't necessarily know the Jane is even 'the devil', he just knows how the blood works.
The devil isn't us, it's the blood, to him.
Let's... not mention anything about being a nurse.
At all. Or anything relating to our 'private life'.

I vote for joining Fuse in the vent. >_<

Edit: maybe we could ask Fuse to nod or shake his head and ask if he'd be OK with a sync? If he shakes his head or doesn't respond, we could join him in the vent?

Also, uhm, yeah. Maybe we're not human, kinda sorta, but if we were so hellbent on being a devil we sure as heck wouldn't be here trying to talk to this guy. And our bloody tendrils are kewl. (okay don't tell him that)
