You tell Fuse and Michelle about what's going on--that your guard is being watched over by a frail man with a respirator and red glasses, and some kind of hulking mutant. Also, Macland is strapped to a table, and being tended to by some weird scientist.

"So this is a trap, then," says Fuse.

"Yeah. This sounds like a big oool' trap," concludes Michelle.

You contact Dr. Finch, in addition, and you describe the situation that Macland is.

"Hm. Hm hm hmmm," Dr. Finch begins, "that is... odd. Why upright, and facing a screen if they're going to drain him... and no IVs present? Odd, very odd indeed... I'm actually not too certain what they could be planning. Some manner of hypnosis, perhaps? There have been experiments done with memetic defense mechanisms, mostly for fighting off potential telepaths. The idea is that, by planting a 'dangerous thought,' it lays a trap for anyone invading the target's mind. I didn't read much up on how successful the experiments were, I just know they didn't pan out and the whole project was quietly dropped."

You give it a moment of thought, and then you decide to try and converse through your guard. You wake him up, and make him speak.

"Who's there? ...What do you want with me?"

The man with the mask and red glasses draws nearer, his mechanical wheezing increasing in pace. He leans in close... uncomfortably close.

"You ask who's here... I want to know..." he gives a shuddered gasp, as if fighting for breath. "...the same. How did you know there was someone in the room with you? Are you... you?" He brushes his hand against the guard's cheek. "Or are you... the devil?"

You are pretty confident that you can kill your guard, if necessary. You are not very confident about figuring Macland's location. There's no landmarks, and no one seems to recognize the scientist you're describing. For now, you force Macland to pass out.

"Hmph," says the portly scientist with the cybernetic eye, "Mackers has fainted."

The scarred man crosses his large arms tight against his chest. "There's been a lot of that going around."

"It's of nooo consequence," the scientist continues, "Most men pass out halfway through the process anyway..." He retrieves several instruments from the nearby counter, and begins to fix them to Macland's face. The devices force his eyes open, and combined with one of the table's restraints running across Macland's forehead, Macland Row is left to still firmly face the screen ahead.

Hmm. Not entirely sure what to say about Macland and his mad scientist acquaintance, but for the red glasses, try to reply that you think you/Blondie are on the opposite side? Your kin come from above (world to world) not from below. MIGHT make them less (or more) confident if dealing with nephilim (half angels).

Ah, might also want to point out that while the guard IS blindfolded, he can still hear things, like the red glasses' mechanical wheezing a la Darth Vader. I doubt the two of them would've stayed completely still - and the wheezing would have still been a giveaway.

How the guard could know someone else was there is easy to answer. He could hear the mask guy's breathing.

Spotted the green eyeblink. We meet again, it seems. Wider smile than humanly possible, is it ? Body shape is also a perfect match with #105.
We have our peeping tom #1.

Not sure how to use that... but Jane should let her posse know.

i think we can leave macland to this tbh, it'll be a problem if we have to sync with him but there's nothing we can do to get to him or get out of what's going on. the guard presents an opportunity to learn what's going on with bane-a-like and maskface. tell him you have no idea what he's talking about, that you don't know anything. you could hear him breathing.

The scientist's eye is flashing...
Just like the image in the basement of the Hospital...
