You inform everyone of what happened. You also ask Dr. Finch if he has any more rats, as you'd like to try something. He fetches a gray rat, and you have Dr. Finch inject it with his own blood.

You do not gain control of the rat.

It seems that the blood has to come directly from you--blood from those you control does not have the same effect.

You increase the amount of time that your guard will be asleep to make sure he's still passed out when Macland and the scarred man leave. You consider delving into your guard's thoughts, but even a cursory thought reading requires syncing.

You ponder whether or not you could set up some kind of alarm system using your blood control. Normally, perceiving through someone--and giving them orders--requires your full attention, at least briefly. You think you may be able to wait for particular triggers by watching a target more passively. It's a little like speed reading--you're just "skimming" until you see words that look important. However, because of the concentration involved, you suspect you can only have one such alarm set up at a time.

For now, you set your blood to alert you when your guard wakes up.

dang, didn't see this one. oh well, my comment is still applicable so i'll just revise it a bit.

having another trained tubecop around that looks like a bunch of other tubecops, most specifically the one close to macland, might be a good thing. try and sync with our guard, see if we can find out where he is. maybe make it abundantly clear in our attempt that we want to help him not meet the same fate as the bartender. alternatively, watch through macland and see if we can get an address. or do both. either way, i'm in favour of making sure no one else we've roped into this has to die. he doesn't deserve this, really. he just had the bad luck of being the one near the back vent, and he also literally has no idea what happened inside. if there is a way to subtly make mack leave the place unguarded, do that.

Yes, that's true and all, but two things to consider.
The guard is likely to be /pissed/ at us for injecting him, making this happen, making him lose his job... Everything.
We kinda ruined the dude's life.
Anyway, if he was willing after we told him WHY did those things, that'd be cool.
Otherwise, I think we'd have to kill him. Better a dead dude than very unwilling help, sometimes. Especially if he knows everything.

i mean, once we have him out and safe we can always give him the option of getting as far away as he can as fast as he can. i'm not saying we force him to help us, i'm just saying we do our best to keep him alive, because whether he hates us or not, no one deserves to die just because they had the misfortune of running across the party.

And Done. Now to see what the future holds.
Things to watch for the creator that have relevance to blood matters: anime Beyond the Boundary, Avatar (especially the second season) and Dragon Age. Equivalent query to be found for if Jane sees something involving blood manipulation could she pull it off herself?

Maybe we could sync with Macland, see what he knows. He's not currently in danger of being injected with Chatter, and he probably knows more. Then we can just have him act like he didn't discover anything from the sync.

Also, maybe if we can figure out where he is, we could send another injected rat in with a syringe. If we can get the scarred guard, we'd be good.

When Jane syncs with someone who's conscious enough to resist it, they can learn from you as much as you can learn from them.

We don't want a bunch of suicidal hobos destroying every place we currently can hide in, and especially not compromise Grizwald's safety.

I vote against syncing with McLand while he's awake.
