The rat squeezes its way out of the vent, hops up onto the counter, and plugs the drive into the computer. It begins to upload the program Fuse set up.

While the program is uploading, you have the rat check the locker. It is, in fact, locked.

As the upload reaches 50%, you hear someone approaching. They're coming down the stairs to the security office. You think the USB needs at least another couple of minutes to finish.

Run around the floor and be noisy and squeaky.

It's likely to get the rat killed, but we could still try to keep them occupied for a couple of minutes and escape through the event. If possible, make them chase the rat out of the room.

Ah... Have the rat flee! And, I guess, take the stick with you? Dammit...

Gaaagh gosh darnit!!

I don't think it's a good idea to get our bandaged rat caught and killed, it'll give the game away, not to mention the USB stick will still be in there.

I think we should grab the stick and retreat back into the vent, but keep an eye in the room to see who's coming in. Hopefully they're not sticking around.

Removing the stick will stop the upload, which is the entire point of putting it in.
Better to sacrifice the rat to keep them distracted while the upload finalizes.

Couldn't we stick it in again later to try again? If we sacrifice the rat and the USB stick stays in there, the whole situation could be compromised because the person would notice there's a USB stick doing something in there that wasn't there before. Not to mention, the rat with bloody bandages would be incredibly suspicious, considering what they've seen of our bloody-bandaged nurse and her bloody-bandage powers through the camera livestream from the hospital. Security could ratchet up. >_> I dunno, man...

Turn off the monitor(s) if there's a button for it... then be a distraction and book it when you get the chance. Stay close to the vent just in case. (The rat can get back up... right?)

Does the door to the security office have a lock? We could lock it, maybe delay the person coming in for another little bit while they get out their keys...

Otherwise, taking out the USB stick and trying again once the person leaves (as long as that won't mess the program up or something, or leave visible evidence that we were trying to do something) might be the best choice.

If I'm counting right, we're currently deadlocked between take the stick out, wait for person to leave or leave the stick in, distract the person while the upload happens

As much as my instincts tell me this is a bad idea in the long run I'm going to have to say we gotta take it out and scurry our rat self back into the vent. We can atleast listen and observe at that point.

I guess I'll break the tie with take the stick out and hide, while the rat may be expendable, the USB stick is not.
