You feed it more blood.

There's a lingering quiet... and then the mouth speaks again.

"Ah, I see what you mean. The way I was butchering syntax, I hardly explained myself at all! English is such a... bizarre and unsightly language. Okay.

Your red is an aspect of you. Imagine an architect--he has an idea for a structure. He sketches up blueprints. He has the structure built. That idea, that blueprint, and that final product are ALL the red. The building he eventually produces may be altered and worn by those that occupy it, or by inclement weather, but it is still intrinsically a part of him--it was his concept made real.

I was a part of your mother, for I was in her heart, and she made me. I am also independent of her. Clearly, as I am still here, and she is... she has passed. I am a song she sang, or a lesson she taught. I am of her, and from her, but I am not her.

Your red is a part of you, as well, whether you externalize it or not. In fact, you can externalize it multiple times, in different places! I existed elsewhere, ages ago. I am always me. Your red is a part of you, and it is influenced by you--just as a song can be as sad as its singer, even making the singer sad anew after their mood has improved.

Part of you fears what you are. Part of you thinks it would be easier to just... let go of the shackles of humanity. And rest assured, it would be--in fact, we could take off to space right now if you wanted. Your mother had to fight me every step of the way in loving your father. It took me years to give up on eating his brains and becoming decorative with his flesh. Your mother was torn between being the conqueror god of old, and... well, being your mother. Being your mother eventually won out.

She was conflicted about telling you all this, as well. I insisted, insisted that she tell you the entire truth, but she wanted you to be... normal, as this world considers it. And happy. When you demonstrated no anomalous properties, and appeared human both in appearance and behavior... she thought, perhaps, you could just live a human life. Why burden you with some dark, forbidden knowledge of an ancestry from out of space? Why ever make you think that you're not like the other children? Why make you suspect, even for a moment, that there's a monster within?

There was always that inkling of a fear, that smallest thought, that some aspect of your other lineage would make itself known... and change all that. Ruin it. Not just dash your mother's hopes for a normal life for you, but risk turning you into something that could, and would, destroy this world.

Everything could have been fine.

Those bastards."

Your mother lived her life as Something Else. Something Grand and Terrible. Something from Elsewhere. And she was able, and willing, to throw it all away. To wear the guise of a human. All for love. All the way to the grave. Maybe normalcy is behind you. But you're still human. For so long, you've lived as a human. This otherness, This... Red. It's a part of you, yes, but it is NOT YOU. If your mother, someone who lived with it all her life, could just throw it away like that... Well, I think it might be easier for you to push it aside. Normalcy is gone... But you became a nurse to save people. You've saved Dr. Finch from being impaled. You broke the control over Fuse and Michelle. You... have power. Now, use it. Save the city.

Save the city, and/or take over it yourself, take over the world....

Point is we don't have to go fully monster or rather, we don't have to completely abandon humanity. They might be delusions of grandeur but I know of more than one tale of humans killing gods and other beings that were otherwise stronger than them. Humanity gives a certain unique perspective, even if only used for reference points.

Kill the Queen, then see where we want to go from there. The Queen is hostile, so let's kill it.

This might just be me but normality is overrated.

And there's also something about nature vs. nurture in here at this point. Maybe some self control based philosophy built in as well. Either way we should tell Jane's Red "Friends are not food. Enemies can be food, but not friends."

That said, time for Jane's monster heritage lesson. ... or should we have a sommat psychic conference call with our party before we go there?

Either way this seems like a good time to check on people.

Well, now we know it's possible to overcome a red's... eldritch urges. So that's good! There's hope for getting through to our red that "no we will NOT choose which friend to kill" yet!

We should probably be checking in with Fuse and Michelle via Blood-o-Vision during lulls in the conversation, just to make sure they're okay and "those bastards" aren't messing with them.

It's fine. Hiding that kind of stuff is pretty hard.

Ok. Jane's mother is an Old One who fell in love with her father, enough to maintain a human facade and restrain herself for years.
Jane's own Red got... insulted when exposed to Queen, and woke up on the wrong foot.

Jane should avoid doing human drugs - she can do so much more on her own. Placating her Red means respecting it first and asking for respect back, become buddies. Explain human concepts to it. Let it devour your enemies. Play games with it?
Stuff friends do.

Anyway, describe the situation to your mom's Red. Is it fine for it to remain here ? Enemies will come in eventually and try to... reverse engineer it, enslave it, or just plain kill it.
Is there a way you could take it in without going full monster?

Then explore that final room.
