While Caius calls Jury to see what progress has been made while you were gone, you head to Bunker E to check on the girls.

They... seem to be having a good time.

"Is fun," confirms the baby red. "Been princess."

Faraday giggles, and even Tesla is smiling sheepishly. "It took some time for us to explain make-believe to our new friend," Faraday relays, "but we got there."

"No cups. No hands." If baby red could shrug, they probably would. "Tea party. Weird happy."

"Did... everything go okay?," Tesla asks.

You nod, and confirm that you had a good time. You... probably needed it, in the big scheme of things. Now that you're recharged and not feeling as stressed, well... now it's a perfect time to do something extremely stressful.

You want to try and help Edison.

Tesla visibly tenses. Faraday seems apprehensive, as well, but gives an accepting nod. "We'll do our best. Just tell us what you need."

For now, you need to go make other preparations--you just wanted to let the girls know, and see if they were still willing to give it a shot.

"She's our sister," Tesla mutters weakly. "W... we have to try. We must do something."

Faraday steps closer to her sister, hugging Tesla tightly. "Even if nothing can be done, at least we will have tried."

You take your leave for the moment, and head back to Bunker A. You inform the group of your plans.

"Hittin' the ground runnin', huh?," Michelle chuckles.

"So, Edison's..." Lydia raises an eyebrow, "like... another ghost?"

"The first ghost we ran into," Fuse replies before adding, "and a total psychopath. Whatever the scariest image you get when you picture a haunted school, that's pretty much what we had to deal with."

"She's been through a great deal of trauma," Dr. Finch clarifies, "and may not have been all that mentally sound to begin with. Her 'sisters' have been recovered, aided, and have made incredible progress... that may well go a long way to rehabilitating Edison, as well."

"Oh, yeah," Michelle agrees, "there's no way in hell we coulda ever calmed down Edison without havin' the other two. I think we got a shot at it now, though--what with Faraday out and about an' all."

"Perhaps." Dr. Finch gives a small, solemn series of nods, mostly to himself. "Perhaps."

Michelle shrugs. "Well, I'm game. Let's go get her can."

"I'll inform Caius, once he's finished speaking with Jury," Dr. Finch states. "You... may need as much assistance as you can muster."

You and Michelle head to Bunker D, on Mars... and you are promptly reminded of the two ominous crates still residing there.

You remember Mom's red saying they can now store items inside themselves--you've just... never gotten around to stashing these things anywhere but here.

There's been a lot going on.

You and Michelle step around the boxes, heading into the left hand hallway where Edison's canister sits.

The bloody bandages you left around its lid are undisturbed. Edison's been sleeping the entire time... ever since the incident at the school.

Michelle takes a deep breath, giving herself a moment before hoisting the metal tube onto one shoulder. The two of you take it back to Bunker E; you retrieve your recently purchased fire extinguisher on the way there.

Caius meets you at the entrance, and hands the lab's ghost gun to Michelle. Caius takes the canister. "I sure as hell ain't gonna rely on my aim if shit goes south," Caius remarks with a somewhat grim smile.

You, Michelle, and Caius reach the containment hall, where Tesla and Faraday have been waiting. Tesla looks incredibly nervous, but even Faraday seems worried. You ask if they're okay, and still prepared to do this--and they both nod.

"I'm s-scared, but," Tesla pauses, wincing, "we can't just... leave her in there."

Everyone nods to each other, signalling that they're ready.

Caius plugs the canister into Edison's old cell.

There's a long, tense silence.

You fear, for an instant, that maybe Edison wasn't in her tube after all.

However, after just a little longer--

she bursts out of the open end of the metal container, frantic, eyes full of almost as much fury as she had the moment she was captured.

She quickly realizes where she is, turning to glare at the window.

More specifically, she glares directly at you.

"Of course," Edison huffs. "You know this won't save you, right? I already thought of a huuundred ways to get out of here, and when I do--"

"--Edison," Faraday says firmly. "...Edison, it's Faraday. And Tesla, we're both here."

"H-... h-hello," Tesla says, much quieter. She gives a small wave.

Edison's eyes steadily widen. Her enraged exterior slips away for just... a moment.

"No it's not," she finally blurts out. "Faraday's dead. The scientists killed her."

"No, Edison," Faraday pleads, shaking her head, "I'm quite alright! The experiment didn't kill me, it just... well, I wasn't quite myself for a while. But Dr. Finch, and Caius and Mine, they--"

"No!," Edison exclaims her voice echoing off the chamber walls. She seems... less coy and in control than before, becoming slightly unhinged. She throws another glare in your direction. "You lot are clever, I'll give you that. Cleverer than I thought but Faraday is DEAD! They killed her and you won't TRICK me!"

"Edison," Faraday protests, "it's not a trick! It's really me! Please--"

"FARADAY IS DEAD!," Edison screams, and pounds her small fists against the glass. "She's dead! They pretended they were our friends and they took all that time and all that work just to kill her! They can't kill ghosts so they looked for a way! She's dead! SHE'S DEAD! And you're trying to trick me!"

Edison sinks to her knees. By this point, Tesla is hugging Caius and crying into his shirt, and Faraday herself looks like she might start any second now.

Faraday takes a moment to collect herself... before speaking, more quietly. "It... it's not a trick. I'm really--"

"Shut up," Edison mutters, sounding like she's worn herself out yelling. "Just shut up. I'm not falling for it. It's just more lies. Oh, it was an accident. We didn't mean to. This wasn't s'posed to happen. You know what's not a lie...?"

Edison looks up, staring at you hard through the glass.

"I'm going to get out... and I'm going to kill you all. Each. And every. One of you."

mmmmmmmmmmmm..... My first reaction is to put her back in the can, but let's wait till things get violent for that.
By that I mean, prep the can in case things go south but leave Edison alone with Faraday and Tesla or something. best actions I've got right now.
wierdweblurker 24th Jul 2018, 9:12 PM edit delete reply
I... can't believe I'm saying this after the schoolhouse shenanigans, but let her try. I'd hazard a guess that we're actually better at electrical control than she is at this point, and she may very well be more amenable to conversation after she's exhausted herself attempting to fight us. Send all non-electrical personnel out of the facility and let the girl out.
Memo 25th Jul 2018, 12:59 AM edit delete reply
I very much vote against that.
Just too much risk. Also, we want her to become less violent. Going mano-a-mano (so to speak) against her, is not going to solve anything.
Tale Swapper 25th Jul 2018, 7:43 AM edit delete reply
So much nope. We don't know what she might do if she stops playing with us. And she sounds mad. Much better to leave her as is for now; let her calm down. Under no circumstances should we allow the homicidal, traumatized ghost girl a chance to kill everyone.
chaosblitz 25th Jul 2018, 4:24 PM edit delete reply
no, very much no. or at the very least, not yet. she literally just said she's going to kill us all, lets wait for her to calm down some and realize that Edison really isn't dead before even thinking about letting her out.
chaosblitz 25th Jul 2018, 4:26 PM edit delete reply
*Faraday. I keep getting these girls' names mixed up.
Guest 24th Jul 2018, 9:13 PM edit delete reply
Ask Edison if she'd believe them, if Faraway said something that only the three might know or recognize- give or take a few scientists, given that they might've been watched regularly.
PurpleKetchup 25th Jul 2018, 1:59 PM edit delete reply
She may find a way to justify anything - with the scientists spying on them all the time so they'd have known this kind of things as main argument.

Let's perform a ghost-enhancement ritual on one of the scientist ghosts, to prove that we have ways to alter the state of ghosts, in ways completely different from the scientists.

Failing that, go ghost.
Twyll 24th Jul 2018, 9:35 PM edit delete reply
We haven't reached the point of proving things to her logically yet. She's still in a state of overwhelming emotion; proof is unlikely to penetrate her mental defense mechanisms, and she'd probably see us doing that as being some sort of proof that we *are* trying to trick her.

She is traumatized, and probably has an assumption carved deep into her psyche that she can never trust again. We have to get past that before she'll believe anything we show her. Facts are useless when people aren't in a state to see and understand them, so we have to work on getting her emotions under control first.
Twyll 24th Jul 2018, 9:20 PM edit delete reply
We need to be calm and persistent. She's been horribly betrayed and been through a lot of trauma. Pull on all our nursing bedside manner powers to calmly explain to her that we're going to help her just like we helped Faraday. We recognize that terrible people did terrible things to her and her sisters, and while we can never make up for what they did, we're going to try to help her however we can. Maybe we can never understand her feelings fully, but they're all perfectly valid and reasonable feelings and we'd never ask her not to feel angry at the people who wronged her and her sisters.

Calmly explain, very briefly, exactly what happened with Faraday and how we got her back. She'll try to interrupt, she'll try not to hear, and we've just got to be patient and try to get through to her anyway. Don't react emotionally except to be as gentle and calming as possible. Hopefully, we can get a bit more of the situation across to her, but it's not guaranteed, and it's okay if she refuses to listen for now.

Then, ask her what she wants or needs. If she says "to kill you all," then ask "anything else?" calmly. We have to show her that we are here to help her, and even threats won't drive us away. This might take a very long time, and it might take multiple visits. We might need to give her time to simmer down every time we ask after her. But eventually, it should get through to her.

Also, we need to comfort Tesla and Faraday. Encourage them and tell them that they're very strong and doing a very good job. We expected that Edison would be difficult to communicate with, and we're committed to helping her no matter what.

We also need to do a lot of things as a precaution-- blood all around where she might get out and set our blood alarm to monitor that area, for one thing. We don't want to rely on Tesla and Faraday to keep her contained or alert us if she gets out.
Twyll 24th Jul 2018, 9:23 PM edit delete reply
Also, let's very much *not* leave her alone with Faraday and Tesla. That's a good way to traumatize the OTHER two girls. They're already reacting badly, and they need to be comforted and supported. A task this difficult should *not* be on their shoulders.
Skullrama 24th Jul 2018, 9:35 PM edit delete reply
Agree with all of this approach. Patience, kindness and PERSISITANCE will be key. Put that nurse training to use.
Skullrama 24th Jul 2018, 9:41 PM edit delete reply
Further suggestion - perhaps Caius can comfort the girls while we are speaking with Edison.

+1 to everything Twyll said.

But before that, I suggest a little moment in which Edison can huff and puff some more (if she likes), we comfort her sisters, and perhaps, as an opening question, why she thinks we let her out of her tube. An open question, by the way; I'd like to know how Thale got her to be angry at us, or if she just assumes anyone is in cohorts with the scientists, or if he trauma and pain just makes her attack everything that moves.
PurpleKetchup 25th Jul 2018, 2:08 PM edit delete reply
@Tobias: Thale himself probably never made use of Edison after her breakdown. She was likely tubed and left in stasis for decades, so her bloody murderous anger is still fresh - she probably didn't even take time to properly mourn.
He told Gesenai to give her red thread to placate her, but Edison planned to go kill Ges right after being done with everyone in the school, so that's not exactly reliable.

Good as a gift, but no more.
Tobias23 26th Jul 2018, 6:35 AM edit delete reply
I admire your memory! Still, whenever someone let Edison out of her tube, they wanted something from her. As did the scientists. She tried to kill us, and still wants to. That we let her out at all, even though we have every reason to keep her locked up, might make her think. Basically, we have more to gain from keeping her sealed than we do from letting her out. And she from being let out, than from staying in stasis.
ReikoLupus 25th Jul 2018, 11:01 AM edit delete reply
I support this XD.
But first send Michelle to get baby-Red. That cuteness and sincere personality can help with calming Edison.
skybirds15 25th Jul 2018, 7:54 PM edit delete reply
Ask Edison what would prove to her that this is Faraday. After doing all that other stuff, assuming it's not a good enough answer.

If absolutely nothing works, we can just go 100% practical and just say that we'll just leave her in the tube forever, then, no reason to let her out.

ok, maybe there are a couple steps to take before this.

A history lesson might be in order. Knowing that all the scientists are dead mighg help some, after a fit of rage that SHE cannot do the deed time did.

+1 with Twyll, but just in case, let's ask Faraday if there actually is a way out of the containment chamber so we can deal with potential problems
T41 25th Jul 2018, 12:23 AM edit delete reply
Hey, Edison, how 'bout we play a game? The rules are simple. You think of things that only you and your sisters would know and ask questions about them. The girl in yellow will answer, no one else is allowed to talk or help her out in any way, not even Tesla. If she answers all of them correctly, she is Faraday. If she does not, I will enter your chamber alone and you can try to kill me.
Nayru9572 25th Jul 2018, 4:27 AM edit delete reply
Let's not try to turn this into a game: I think that would only make us seem less sincere to her.
pkrankow 27th Jul 2018, 6:56 AM edit delete reply
Yes to the questions only her sisters could know. It is not a game though. It must not be an interrogation either. Some lightness is necessary.

Fun and real are possible. We can tell her about ourselves too as answers.
Twelveseal 25th Jul 2018, 3:45 AM edit delete reply
Hmmmm. Let's see... I think we should have Caius comfort the girls. We should probably give Edison some time to cool down in the tank for a bit. Maybe ask if there's anything we can get her. Nothing dangerous, ofc. We should also ask Faraday, outside of Edison's earshot, if there are any books Edison happens to like. Mine, Michelle, or Caius reading to her might help calm her down a bit and shift her attitudea bit to our benefit. Just make sure she doesn't get the book. Fire hazard and all that.

Also, we should ask Edison if there's any way Faraday could prove she's really who she claims to be.

Perform astral projection ritual. While in ghost form, tell her that we went through the exact same experiment as Faraday went through; she wasn't destroyed, she just inflated like a balloon so much it was difficult to interact with her. We did the same thing and then condensed down; and helped Faraday do the same. Let Edison know we're trying to help her, but if she threatens our family again, that this time our family includes her family. And if we have to protect our family, we will, and unlike last time, it's not going to be scary ghost girl against mere mortals, it's going to be scary ghost girl against superghost-mom who's super-scary when her family is threatened. She couldn't win last time when we were the underdog, and we've come a long way since then.

Now, we understand flipping out because your family got hurt. We would also flip out if our family was hurt, (which we WILL do if you hurt them, and we will do FOR you if you're part of the family). And, part of us understanding how important family is, is why we helped your family.

So, as it stands, you've got three choices. Give the benefit of the doubt, and take your time to see if it's really Faraday and then maybe say thankyou when you realize it's actually her OR leave and never come back - abandoning your family and the people who saved them OR tick off the lady who's done what you only wished you can do, and who can now do the same kind of tricks you can do and then some and has been doing her best to reunite you with your family.

Another thing we might want to consider is asking Edison what she remembers. If she's been in stasis this whole time, she might not even know how long it's been since Faraday's accident. We'll have to explain the whole story to her, probably. But we'll definitely have to get her calmed down to the point where she will even LISTEN, first.
Terrac 25th Jul 2018, 6:17 PM edit delete reply
Also, it seems she needs a reminder that she should NOT be threatening her sisters, who suffered just as much as she did, out of all people.

She's emotionally incapable of hearing a logical reasoning, right? Further, she can't be blooded so we can't walk into her head and do things that way (not that that would be safe anyhow...).

I can only think of two ways to reach someone like that: time or shock.

Time is an obvious option and self explanatory.

Shock is... well.... shocking! How would she respond if Mine just burst out laughing in a maniacal fashion and walked off? I'm not saying this is the answer (good god not), but the shock value is there. Something to consider if the next item doesn't work: what would be so unexpected that both Edison and the various gods watching would think "WTF?!" and just stare, all while trying to rethink the events leading up to said action.

>Rethink: that is normally what breaks this type of behavior.

Example: I have personally run face first into a wall to get an unstable kid to stop fighting his parent and be good. "I though I was crazy." (The teacher, yes this was the handicap section of the school, whom helped me up asked me if I was retarded... then laughed his ass off when he realized why I did that.)

Your idea gave me this one. NOT recommending this (my own recommendation is further up)

However, IF we go shock value, my recommendation is this (because I can't resist the idea, the whole thing played out in my head in a moment and I was like "dang, I gotta write that"), but it's dark, so before I even put it out there, I'm giving it a "-1" from me...

Grin internally, and almost-evil mischeviously, because she taunted and scared us before

Get everyone else to leave this bunker, close the door. Just Edison and Mine.

"You saw through my clever ruse little ghost. However, in case you forgot, you're dead. You're right it a was a trick. But this isn't some trick by the scientists before, oh no no no, this is a different trick.

Your sister. You're right, she's dead. But you're dead too. Both of you were ghosts before, but now you're both dead ghosts. Ghosts that have passed on. That's your "sister".

Blood begins to pour out of mine's eyes

That little human woman who barely held you off took your little canister to a priest. He said the rites. You've passed over, and you're on the other side. You've joined your sister. And you've been a baaaaaaaaad little girl.

Elongate teeth and nails and change eyecolor to red pupils with black 'whites'

But you see, little girl, you're only one girl, but you're broken into pieces, and you were such a bad little girl, you're in hell. But since 2/3rds of you is innocent, Hell isn't normally a place for rewards, but yours is a strange case. Hell is going to trick your innocent parts into thinking they're in a good place, and it will be nice for them, forever. But not for you. Because you're the bad one. You get the brunt of the punishment. Beyond just knowing you're in hell, you get to know the truth.

At this point, be using blood powers to grow temporary tentacles, mouths, etc. in odd spots.

So, you see, your eternal punishment is to make sure the other two stay happy with this little family hell put together for you. And to torment you, I, the devil, will continually wear the face of the innocent woman who defeated you. As the head of this little family. And you're going to play along.

Release a little of the electricity stored in the red to make the air crackle and hair stand on end.

For all time.

Casually stroll along, streaking blood across the viewing window.

Because, you put hell in this weird predicament. And we don't like being put in weird predicaments, but the punishment is just. Which is more than you deserve little ghost piece.

Turn to face her, blood trail on window sprouting tentacles

So it's your job to maintain their happiness, for all eternity. You get to maintain the illusion, while being constantly forced to assist one with the face who defeated you, to remind you of your transgressions.

At this point, make the walls bleed

And if you ever fail to play along...
... they will know the truth.

And since they are part of you, they will face your same punishment.

Let random faces appear in the pooling blood, having agonizing screams

So, to put it simply, you get to play the good girl for all time, play along with the story Hell makes for them. There will be laughter, and tears, and hugs, and everything, and it will be a good life for them.

Or we can treat you as just one bad girl and bring on the fiery pits.

It's your choice.

At this point have the bunker flooding with blood, and terrifying shrieks that we learned of the blood echolocation from mom's red

You're lost, you can't save yourself now. You can only save your "sisters"... but if you fail... it will be worse... so... very worse.

Retract everything in an instant so it looks pristine and clean with Mine looking her adorable self.

So, come along and be a good little girl, okay?
