Red and Visor-Mine begin to back away from the whimpering... as do you.

You quietly ask what they know about the other you.

"A-Arms," says Visor-Mine. "She has... a lot of arms. She's been crawling around in the walls and floor."

"She's really pale," adds Red, in an equally hushed tone.

The... meat of the floor begins to move, shifting subtly.

Visor-Mine is your caution--your tendency to think about (and sometimes overthink) what the worst case scenario could be. The big you is your anger, your frustration, and the pain you've felt at losing control over your emotions. The mouth was your fear of your own death, and your acknowledgement that you could do something about it.

The only thing you can think of that could be left, in terms of your negative emotions, is--

something begins to shove its way out.

The layers of meat part as a form starts to squeeze between them, steadily rising from the floor...

and flopping over, uneventfully.

She squirms, and whimpers, struggling against the bandages that have bound her.

"That's not her!," Red blurts out.

An arm bursts out of the floor, from roughly the same spot.

A pale arm.

A very long arm.

You fear death but not nearly as much as you fear other peoples' deaths. If you could, you would just hoard all your friends in the bunker, and never let them out. You'd protect them. You'd keep them safe. You'd never put them in the line of fire.

You'd never accomplish anything.

It'd be a full shut down. Thale would win because you'd never fight him, or you'd try to fight him alone and fail. It's a thought process you have to suppress, you have to, because it would mean stashing away the only people that can hope to stop all this.

Another arm bursts out of the floor.

Your first instinct is to run back to the first room, but you're caught by the sight of the... doctory looking you, still restrained and struggling on the floor. You tell Red and Visor-Mine to run.

Visor-Mine starts to, but stops when you and Red both hesitate.

"What are you doing?!," asks Visor-Mine.

"You're not fighting this thing by yourself!," Red yells at you, ignoring the other Mine.

You're not planning to. You're not planning on fighting, you just think you might have a shot of--

a third arm emerges. That you--the fear, the urge to take everyone and just... secret them away, begins to pull herself out of the floor. You're not sure if you have time to grab Science-Mine or not.

Pale arms. Of course they're pale. You never let that version of you see the light of day. That's what she wants. ...To never expose herself, or anyone. ...To just drag everyone under the floor and keep them there, forever, and hope it all blows over.

The only thing you can do with fear is confront it. Untie the Dr. Mine and then say hello to both new parts of our psych
Gigafreak 18th Jun 2018, 3:47 AM edit delete reply
I'm like 90% sure she'll be as receptive to words as the big violent aspect-- which is to say, "not at all, not just yet." Rather than trying to stab things, this one binds and gags them and drags them into the walls. Even if she WAS receptive to words, it'll be hard to say anything once she puts the bandage-gag on you.

It sounds bad, but we can afford to leave Science-Mine there. The Fear isn't going to harm her. (Did she wiggle free on her own somehow, or is the Fear using her as bait for some reason...?) Retreat to the bedroom together and fetch the others-- especially Anger-Mine, if she is up for it. Her strength might be enough to restrain Fear or yank her main body out of the walls to force a confrontation. After all, when the Red-Eyed Prophet inflicted Mine's worst fear upon her, Mine's anger kept her moving. Just don't bring the knives, and emphasize the need to subdue the Fear nonlethally.

I'm digging Gigafreak's plan on this one. Let's do that.
Skullrama 18th Jun 2018, 8:08 AM edit delete reply
Yes, get Rage!Mine to help pull this one out. The reasoning is sound - anger overcame fear of losing friends with prophet.

Its just a matter of learning to focus and direct the anger.
Leafia_Barrett 18th Jun 2018, 9:01 AM edit delete reply
Yeah, I'm gonna back Gigafreak on this one too.
Swagner 18th Jun 2018, 9:25 AM edit delete reply
Yeah, pulling her into the open is step one to getting her to calm down. But between the 3 here, we don't need to leave the one that's tied up behind, carrying her shouldn't slow us down much. And we can let her loose in the other room, because that's where we left the knives (to cut the bandages with).
Skullrama 18th Jun 2018, 11:30 AM edit delete reply
After she is out, I propose a nice conversation rather than being like, too forceful. But we are going to have to be clear on setting the tone - no hiding and no grabbing everyone to bind them up and keep them safe forever.

We understand you mean well, but you need to realize you're doing more harm then good here, Pale Mine.
PurpleKetchup 18th Jun 2018, 1:03 PM edit delete reply
That plan sounds solid as it gets. Make it happen.
Cyanic 18th Jun 2018, 1:16 AM edit delete reply
drag doctor us away from the arms with help from Visor and Red, we need to flee back to the first room. While we're at it, we can throw the skindoor at the emerging arms so it has something to distract it for now (WAIT, WE DID GRAB IT, RIGHT?)

undeadDreamer 18th Jun 2018, 1:21 AM edit delete reply
Grab a pale arm and pull.
Twelveseal 18th Jun 2018, 2:05 AM edit delete reply
This. Everyone together now, at that. Have Visor-Mine go get Anger and Nurse. Everybody's going to need to grab an arm and pull.
Blue_Elite 18th Jun 2018, 2:59 AM edit delete reply
Yes, main!Mine and Red!Mine begin pulling on arms. Visor!Mine should go out and recruit rage!Mine and nurse!Mine to help as well.

Fear loses its grip when you overpower it with other emotions. It's a powerful emotion, but even it has limits. If we can bring fear!Mine out in the open (is this literal metaphor enough yet?) and face her, she'll just be an unpleasant sensation rather than actually hold us back.

Also: Lots of arms = lots of hugs.

It won’t blow over. It won’t. It’s terrifying. It’s horrifying. We know that, we know every bit of that. That we’re always so close to failing. That it’s so close, so probable, that we would lose one of them. But hiding would still lose them. We care about them. We love them. But we have to trust in them. That they know what they can do, that they’ll help us. That even if it’s not okay in the end, even if it hurts, they’ll be there with us.
If we hide, we lose everything. We lose them, we lose ourself, we lose everyone that we’ve ever met. Even if Thale didn’t exist, even if there was no threat, it would still be true. We can’t save anything by hiding away. If we run, if we hide, it wouldn’t work. And that’s even scarier.
But we want to. We’re scared of losing what we care about. We’re angry at the idea of losing them. We’re horrified of what we could be, but tempted. We can’t hide from any of it. Not just because of the experiment, but because of what we are. We don’t have the option to hide. We have to do everything that we can. But that doesn’t mean we can’t be careful. If nothing else, our Paranoid side shows that. Our mortality, our divinity, our innocence, our empathy, our reason, all of them are balances, and they NEED the fear and the anger to keep us grounded.

Talk to her. Encourage her to come out. Let her cry if she needs to. It’ll be okay. We have friends, and we have allies.

And there’s always cat magazines waiting, if things get too scary.
Morgause 18th Jun 2018, 1:36 AM edit delete reply
Addendum: make sure we step out of reach of arms and watch our footing as we talk, too. Can’t reason with her if she gags us with bandages like she did with Science.

No running, no hiding friends. Get everyone together to pull up Fear!Mine, while we undo Minch’s bindings!

Would taking one of the other Mines fake hostage help force Arms!Mine to stop and listen?
Twyll 18th Jun 2018, 2:01 AM edit delete reply
Yeah, as much as we don't want to, we probably need to drag this fear to light. And hug her thoroughly.
Take Swapper 18th Jun 2018, 6:33 AM edit delete reply
We need to hold off on the hugs for a bit. This Mine is far better at hugs than we are- we’ll need to...

Hum. We can’t fight, hug, or blood this one. That’s 90% of our options gone. Sharing info seems appropriate.

Speaking of which, how much you wanna bet Fear-Mine looks like Michelle?
Waddle Dee 18th Jun 2018, 3:01 AM edit delete reply
Use our scalpel to cut Minch's bandages.

Mine: Face your fear.
Twelveseal 18th Jun 2018, 4:10 AM edit delete reply
Huh. Fear took Mine's rational mind hostage. We should free her somehow to help with the pulling.
mr. thought 18th Jun 2018, 9:15 AM edit delete reply
I like the idea of Visor-Mine going to get help from rage and nurse while you and Red distract and try to free Minch. If we have the skin cut it blood it and try to use it like bandages along with the skapel to free Minch.
ReikoLupus 18th Jun 2018, 9:55 AM edit delete reply
No, don't do it. Escape!Mine put Doctor!Mine there as bait. We need to regroup with the other Mines to take the upper hand in this situation.
Twelveseal 18th Jun 2018, 10:02 AM edit delete reply
Probably. Freeing Minch is a priority, but ideally something we can manage while we're working on dragging the Amazing Spider-Mine into the open thanks to our team of X-Mines.

Also, why brain, why are you going Marvel on me?

Is only a thing of time until we find the Cat!Mine!!!

Have everyone garb the arm and pull it out from under the floorflesh.
Caydenite 18th Jun 2018, 11:24 AM edit delete reply
Everyone grab an arm and pull together; the point of this is that we can't succeeded alone, we need other people. Hopefully the three of us are enough to drag them into the light so we can confront them head on, but if not we can free Dr. Mine and maybe someone can go and see if nurse and rage can help.

People kept in a box are not safe, it just makes them unprepared if the box ever breaks. It also prevents them from being themselves, and is an attack on who they are.

No, the way you keep people safe is to keep them aware of what's going on, and able to act. People are their own best judges of capability, and the ones most reponsible for themselves. You rob them of that, you've robbed them of them. If they want to be protected, protect them, if they want to head out, head out. When you attempt to box them, you become the monster they need escape from.

Let me tell you this, your work is really really really awesome!!!

A few days ago I discovered in Nast the Enchanter that you had this other work going on as we, and it was such a pleasant binge/marathon!
And then I discovered the webcomic, which is awesome as well.

Damn it, it's not just the incredible story, it's the unique way you write (I read a lot, but you showed me new really creative stuff, which has some similarities to some unorthodox/free-style things I write to myself), it's all the cool philosophical concepts, the depth of all the characters, and even the pinch of comedy that comes up even when we least expect it!

Of course that we can argue that all the comments shape significantly the story. But it takes mastery to do what you're doing!
You're not just listening to the public, you're hugging it, embracing all the options and letting everyone know they were heard, and everything in such a seamless and apparently (so ilusory) effortless way!
I mean of course that with the practice it comes more naturally, and that sometimes the talent is just there, but I can only imagine that you have a looot of work doing all this.

Major Kudos for you Sir.

I can perfectly picture a mind blowing netflix series made out of this (though adaptations are seldomly satisfactory for the biggest fans).

And we can't compare Blood is Mine with Nast the Enchanter. They are too different, at least for now lol.

But I would even say that Blood is Mine is at least as good as Rick and Morty. There. I said it. And note that Rick and Morty is my favourite series.
So yeah.

Thank you for the magnificient ride you're giving us all :D

not related to what's happening, but I really would like Dr.Finch to inspect further the slime!

(if we give it a crown and send it to the Traders will it become the (female)Slime King (not Queen) in Nast the enchanter's Universe? :P xD )
Nine of Pens 18th Jun 2018, 5:01 PM edit delete reply
I kinda doubt the tradesmen will ever ttrade us something capable of independent life unless we trade up things that are already living, which sounds like a bad idea.
Magister Dicks it 18th Jun 2018, 5:55 PM edit delete reply
I don't know if slimes in this world are creatures or just some crazy ass material that regenerates itself. could be interesting to make golems out of them though.

Besides I was just making a joke as we don't know yet the origins of the King Slime. We know she learned a lot from the books but how did she get them, and how was she able to read them in the first place?

Oh and other cool thing to send to Nast would be a sex golem xD to solve the goblin war hahaha. though I'd prefer to empower the female goblins somehow.

Oh well, back to blood is mine, gonna read the chapter that just came out :D
