You send your bug into the room with the visible bookshelf, sneaking it under the door.
It looks like some kind of study, maybe a private room of Hope's. Given that the hall outside was unmanned, he may not even trust his own guards to be in this area.
You also ask Caius if he can call Jury, and tell her about the monster under the church. Out of habit, he aaalmost starts to walk out of the lab... but then stops, and throws his hands up.
"Yeah, gimme a sec to plug tha thing back in my ear."
He fishes around for the alien communication device, and starts to make the call.
no, we can't go in the vents, remember? Hope put that gas in it, since he got (admittedly justifiably, but still inconveniently) paranoid after fuse and the reporter fell out of one.
They may also be electrocuted if they weren't torturing Grizwald (vents being his M.O. and it being the first on the list of violent transgressions on his being).
I think Thale and Co. have learned if it's a vent, boobytrap it to Hell and back.
Our bug is basically just meat being puppeted around - it has no lungs, circulation or organs.... gas wouldn't be a problem. Electricity might be if it paralyzed it... I'm not sure if we could just like... extra force it to move anyway.
I'm curious about the safe but we don't have the combination and I don't think the bug can break in. Take a look at the picture and everything on the bookshelf.
Fuse can pick locks, especially if it's an electronic lock. If it's an old-fashioned safe, he might know about safe cracking as well.
My main concern is if we can open it, can we CLOSE it with a golem so small? We might want to hold off until after saving Grizwald to see if there's incriminating paydirt in there or not.
we might also be able to slip some blood into the safe and explode it from the inside if Fuse doesn't know how to pick it. But yeah, lets just get a good look at it, ask the others if anyone knows how to crack it, and plan to break into it when we do the rescue.
D'you think Caius and/or Michelle could lift it? If the downward staircase nearby is in fact a passage to the tunnels, we could just... pick up the safe and carry it away on our way out.
In my mental image of this plan, Fuse has lit his own gloves on fire and flipped our pursuers the double birds.
While I take the time to catch back up, I must still wonder why we haven't tried the alternate controller experiment. This seems to me like a massively important detail that will become incredibly integral before much longer.
As for what's in the safe? Don't know if that's all that important, but intel is good anyway. Don't stress if you can't get it. My vote's still on BLOW THE BUILDING SKY HIGH as soon as we're done with it, and my reasons are sound. (The blood drive, it's a queen ritual. Everyone whom attends will become Thale.)
It'd at least be in keeping with tradition.
