Caius turns the bookshelf over. It hits the floor with a very heavy thud--and does seem to slow the meat wall down, albeit not nearly enough.

You have your monster break through the vent cover. It doesn't seem to trip any traps, at least.

You tell Fuse, Caius, and Michelle what's in the other room.

"Go," Michelle says firmly.

"Yeah, whatever that stuff is," Caius adds, "that's gotta be it."

You look at Fuse... and then the two of you dive into the vents. You scramble into the other room, with Fuse approaching the screen and you approaching the... meat pedestal. It resembles the one you fed blood to underneath your house.

While you cut yourself with a scalpel and drip blood into the mouth-like opening, Fuse taps at the neighboring screen--then pulls a USB out of his pocket, plugging it into the side of the machine.

You take over the pedestal. You can't see what it's attached to, but you can feel it: the blood line that runs up the wall is hooked into some kind of... blood... bone... puzzle box. It takes you a moment just to get the hang of messing with it--you move the individual pieces, sliding them along resilient contours. It's not a complex puzzle, and you spend more time just figuring out how the whole thing works, but--

"Got it!," Fuse declares before you can finish. He pulls back from his screen. "It was a stupid fucking puzzle."

You mentally check on Caius and Michelle. They're giving a collective sigh of relief.

"They're movin' back," Caius says.

Indeed, the meat walls seem to be... crawling backwards, moving toward freeing the doors again. It appears only one of the two puzzles--the digital one, or the meat one--needed to be solved to call the walls off.

"Dunno what you guys did," Michelle states, "but it worked."

Try to solve the meat puzzle anyway. Just in case.

Ask Fuse what he did/for help just to make things faster.

Good job fuse, if it won't take long, solve our puzzle just in case, maybe there's bonus loot for doing both

Commend our newly-befriended abomination for its bravery. Perhaps hug it, because we are the eldritch hug god and we do as we please.

It's a vertebrae-based monster that is now our bro.
It is a vertebro.
Twyll 8th May 2018, 4:41 PM edit delete reply
Agreed with both of these comments. Definitely hug Vertebro.
Blue_Elite 8th May 2018, 5:09 PM edit delete reply
Keep in mind it is BADLY burned before hugging.

Also totally agree to Vertebro.

Before moving on, fix Caius's hands, and maybe your monster too. (Was anyone else injured?)
Blue_Elite 8th May 2018, 5:12 PM edit delete reply
Check condition of Caius's armour which took a beating. If it still looks good, all we have to fix is the scalpel wound Jane gave herself (aside from Caius).

Finish the meat puzzle and then head back to the others.
Loot the cabinets and send your monster into the next room.
Check the others and apply first aid if necessary.
Gigafreak 8th May 2018, 3:12 PM edit delete reply
Huh. So this room was escape-able by most possible team compositions. Fuse could solve his puzzle, Jane could solve her puzzle... or team comprised solely of Caius and Michelle could've simply ran for the door and kicked it in if they didn't stop to look for traps, letting the walls close in on the spine monster. Neat.

Damn, Bunker X is REALLY a damn game XD. It has everything, Monsters with a diferente color palet that indicates that they are stronger, and puzzles that for some reason stop the traps XD.

For now, complete the Blood Puzzle and heal everyone.

This was designed in large part by the Tradesmen; they professed a full understanding of Jane's culture and knowledge base, and operated as the arbiters between the entities for Jane and the entities against Jane.

The Tradesmen also admitted that these challenges would be watched, so the game-challenge design is doubtlessly meant to do more than give Jane a chance, but also entertain the observing gods and godlings and various spirits a proper source of entertainment.

We should ask the Tradesmen if they were giving their cosmic audience a running commentary.

And this makes one thing clear:

Hmm, there might be some merit in taking finch or Elizabeth into future floors for the sake of doing puzzles.

Maybe we should cautiously check if the sink does anything.

You remind me, we need to test NOW while we have a moment of peace, if we can still sync with or communicate with our compatriots outside of Bunker X, including our Mini-Jane who does our Magic Book sight-reading for us.

I would hate to think that our blood connection to the outside world could be secretly severed or interrupt, and not know it could be done.

You know, we've never heard if this would be allowed. I don't wanna be catching flak from the tradesmen for changing who's in the bunker, in a way.
1977 8th May 2018, 4:10 PM edit delete reply
Communicating with them is possible.
In the beginning she already tested it and could succesfully talk with Dr. Finch.
Ergo syncing should be possible.
Using all your abilities to their fullest can hardly be considered as cheating.

Rejoin others. Lick wounds (figuratively) and send in Vertebro to/through the next door.

EDIT: And raid the sink cabinet. If we find anything (including the fresh scent of linens/lemons) don't use it immediately but if take-a-able take with us.

It was puzzles.
